Flip Side Record Parlor

Picked up a T-shirt, some nice incense and patches and had a cool time chatting with the folks working there.

Flip Side Record Parlor is one of those places you can feel the history when you walk in, and I'm terribly grateful to Chris, one of my former photog mentors, for putting me onto it. Chris has been friends with owner Clarisa since childhood. When I told her I knew him, she immediately pulled out old pictures of them from the 90s, and then of Flip Side, which has been in business in San Antonio since 1972!

The original owner, Doug, sadly passed away seven years ago, but his spirit is still very much alive in the many quirky relics, incredible woodwork, and his Grey parrot who can be overhead saying "goodbye" through the fantastic selection of #music playing on vinyl. It's the kind of ghost you want haunting you, fully equipped with records, tees, vintage clothes, incense, posters, novelties, and everything you need to be nostalgic of good times.

Doug passed the business on to Clarisa knowing full well she would put the same level of love into in - and she really does! Clarisa has archives of stories from her 24 years working here, including one she shared about the wooden crates being hand-built in-house as they were too big to fit through the door. And you'll be amazed at what you dig up in them! Definitely check this small business out in south Alamo City.

Great place, good selection of records and metal patches. The records can be relatively expensive, but I've also found records there cheaper than other places, if you know your music you can score something cool for a decent price. Love the dogs, and I always walk out of this place smelling like incense. An essential piece of San Antonio music history at this point.

Love this shop I bought a Weezer shirt but if I had more money at the time def would have bought like 5 records they got a good selection and even have then a-z and also got a section for Spanish music great place has much to look at

Love flipside. A southside gem that everyone needs to check out and support. Staff is super friendly. I try and drop by when I can to get vinyl or cool t shirts.

Went to look for oldies albums to buy as a gift for my mom's birthday. I found two great albums. One was to a great soundtrack to a classic movie filled with many great oldies hits and the other was a Marvin Gaye classic album. Money well spent. Can't wait to listen to them once her birthday rolls in!

The gentleman who operates this establishment has a profound and vast knowledge of music spanning across all genres. The eclectic atmosphere, the ambient music, and fresh smell of incense is a staple of the community. I make it a point to visit frequently as new things often arrive and concert tickets are readily available at the counter. If you are visiting San Antonio it's a must see to believe location.

Favorite record shop! Huge selection. Other goodies too such as jewelry, cool rock tshirts, posters, etc. We always walk out with great finds. Been customers for years. We love it there🖤

I spent so many days driving to SA to go to flipside and it was always closed..but since the day I went in and met the owner and bought my flipside shirt...it has changed my life...every time I wear this shirt I meet amazing people with amazing stories about flipside...from the valley to dallas...everyone recognizes the magic of flipside..I get called out at concerts...comedy shows..flea markets...record conventions.. this place embodies San antonio history and culture. Love it.

I haven't been there in more than a few years. The place is just as awesome as I remember. The staff are very nice and extremely helpful.
Even if you're not looking for anything particular; I suggest at least dropping by, and checking it out.

This place deserves 100 stars, one of my favorite places in all of SA, Clarissa is the best ever! Love the family, love the products, I have absolutely nothing bad to say about Flipside, you can find rare LP's you might have been searching for all your life here. Great band tee's and other rock memorabilia. Hats off to this place ♥

been going since I was in high school in the 90s when it was at its old location, now my high school kids love it as much I did. We still go! Love the insence! They have great merchandise!

50 years I've been coming here, always finding something worth taking home! Memories from the past and the owners are the best people to do business with. 🙃🤣

Love this place, the staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and always welcoming. Everytime I walk in we talk music, history, etc. One of those spots you get a warm feeling when walking through the doors!
