Aquatek Tropical Fish

I've been here many times with my son, getting fish, shrimp, snails, and supplies for his aquarium. The staff are always friendly and helpful, even when they're clearly very busy. They've answered countless of his questions directly and honestly, with answers from their own experience. I feel lucky to have Aquatek in town - this place is a gem!

Will and I like to visit this store ever so often. Will is the fish person and has 2 tanks. He considers this store one of the best in Texas. The staff is always super friendly and knowledgeable. If you need any kind of supplies, they have it. They have a great variety of fresh and salt water fish. Their prices are comparable to the big box stores. If you are thinking about setting up a tank or you need help, this is the place.

Great selection of fish & having only The best quality brands is great so you're not wasting your time looking through "Tetra"-like brands.

The employee named Zoe was amazing! So sweet and helpful. My time shopping with her totally made my day.

We are novice with our fresh water system. As we learn and troubleshoot Aquatek is an amazing resource. Super knowledgeable staff. Amazing inventory. Plants and animals look healthy. Looks likes a ton to offer as far as salt water goes but that’s way beyond what I’m dabbling in to say for certain. We definitely enjoy looking at that area when we go in. Worth the drive.

Love visiting this store, the only problem is I always spend more than I plan to. Staff are always eager to help you and full of all the great advice and suggestions you could ever need. This place has sparked an interest in fish from me ever since I was really young. They have an amazing collection of fish, with great prices and healthy specimens. Employees were always super knowledgeable.

Amazing small business! This store has everything for your aquarium needs. They have common and rare fish, invertebrates (shrimp, lobsters and coral), aquatic plants, and even pre-assembled and aqua-scaped tanks. They have a great selection of food and nutrients, lighting, pumps, protein skimmers, and other tools for aquariums. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and does not attempt to sell you anything you don't need. Unlike the big chain pet stores, they don't ask pesky and patronizing questions about your aquariums or make assumptions about your skill level. They are polite and honest. Mark is particularly helpful.
The only down side is the pricing of certain merchandise. Some live stock are more expensive compared to other fish shops locally. This is partially offset by the membership card that offers 10% off of items. The catch is that there is a fee of $25 for the card, but is worth it when making big purchases. All in all, this shop is at least worth a look. It is a straightforward, clean store with no pressure to buy. Check it out.

I just called Aquatek with questions on a sick fish that I purchased from a totally unrelated fish store. The place I got the fish from sold me a sick fish and they were very unhelpful in helping me figure out what to do, so I called Aquatek and the person who answered helped me so much. They literally stayed on the line with me for about 20 minutes answering my questions, they were so nice and helpful I could literally cry from the relief.
They will forever have my business from now on.

We love this fish store. They have a great selection and everything we need to upkeep six tanks. The staff is super helpful and know so much about all their types of fish.

I am getting back into the hobby and have a 20 gallon aquarium I needed to fill with fish. I went to petsmart first, and they were understaffed, so they weren't selling fish. This was close by and I saw it online and figured would stop in. I was immediately welcomed by the staff and as I looked they checked in a couple of times. When I was ready I was able to get help and recommendations as well as answers to any questions. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable and isn't afraid to tell you no or if the idea you have may not work. That I can appreciate. They had a Black Friday sale going on as well. I will be back soon to get some live plants!

The staff are friendly and helpful. They are honest about pricing and don’t try to just sell everything to you. They really listen and ask questions to be able to help with any aquarium needs.

Super friendly and helpful staff that are more than willing to help educate new people to the hobby. All the flora and fauna I've purchased from them have thrived with no signs of sickness. Good selection of equipment, and never felt like I was pushed into a purchase.

The one staff I did interact with was knowledgeable and she made me feel comfortable enough to ask her more questions. Nice staff and lovely fish

Love it here. I always learn a new factoid after talking with the employees and I love how my 20 gal. Has progressed! We have 2 tanks and will probably have many more in the future. Long story short, this is the place to visit if you are going to start a fish tank. Rather than other places, they want to make sure your fish live so they were really patient with me and my questions. Again, me and my fiance love it!

Great fish shop! Wish San Antonio had more shops like this. Really great selection of Freshwater and Saltwater as well as a knowledgeable staff. I loved their display tanks too! I will make the drive it’s worth it!

Awesome fish shop!! So many varieties of fish, shrimps, aquarium tanks, plants, tools and other aquatic supplies. The staff was very helpful although I thought everything was little expensive. Recommend this over any local petco shop.
