Coastline Academy Driving School - Austin

Coastine Academy driving school is a school I would highly recommend. I chose the 6-hour package. I was a first-time driver with zero knowledge of driving, but after my lessons here, I am now a qualified, confident, and safe driver! Jimmy T was my instructor, and I had a great time during my lessons. He exhibited professionalism, knowledge, calmness, patience, clarity, and friendliness. I have been lucky to have him as my instructor. Jimmy, I appreciate you teaching me how to drive confidently on the road. Learning with Jimmy T., the instructor at Coastine Academy, was a truly enjoyable experience.

Coastline Academy does great job in car driving training. I appreciate the flexible kind of training which enables adult and busy students get flexible timing and training that suits their specific needs.Special thanks to Jeff T. Michael B is amazing at teaching driving. Very technical in detail and information. I wanted to grow in my everyday skills in driving and also learn to navigate the roads safely in Texas being from Pittsburgh. And I can 💯 say that I’ve become a more confident and safer driver since starting my lessons. Michael is super caring and considerate with explaining turns, hand-over-hand, seat position, mirrors, and lane switching. I was given extra resources and tools that I can get from Amazon/links that will help with my blind spots and seat position.

Coastline Academy Driving School is a good place to learn how to drive. The instructors are patient and well experienced, making it easy for students to relate and learn. Jimmy Thornton is an exceptional instructor by all standards and I highly recommend him.

If I could give more stars, I would. I had 0 behind the wheel experience, but my instructor, Dr. Jimmy T., was incredibly patient, reassuring and confidence inspiring to the point that I never felt like I couldn't handle what I was doing. I took the 10-hour package because I wanted to get as much driving experience under good supervision, and I do not regret it at all. The lessons were very well scaffolded, always pushing me a little bit more without overwhelming me. Before I realized it, I was comfortably, confidently driving around the city. Booking, scheduling and pick-up all happen incredibly smoothly. I really, really recommend Coastline, especially for first-time drivers.

Great, easy-paced lesson! My instructor Jimmy was a great guy to talk with and learn from. He even gave me some driving tips that I’ll definitely use in the future!

My daughter has had two driving lessons with Richard and she says he’s a great teacher - very patient and knowledgeable. Scheduling with Coastline has been really easy, they have a bunch of different places to meet the teacher depending on where you live in Austin, which is great. They also send text reminders before your lesson with the address, time etc. which I really appreciate. So far it’s been a great experience and I highly recommend them!

Michael is a really great instructor and couldn't recommend taking his classes more. He has the right temparament to teach driving to a student at any level in his learning journey. He's a great person on an individual level as well. He'll help you understand every small bit of detail that will help you drive safely and will give you enough points that you can't go wrong on anything. He's calm, patient and overall a person from whom you'd take lessons and learn more things than if you'd circled that parking lot all by yourself. Coastline was also very proactive on reminders for my lessons and keeping me up to date with any information if needed. Great experience overall. Well I also passed my driving test and that explains it all.

Hadn’t driven in 6 years and had to redo my driving license. Wanted to take a couple hours of refresher driving before heading for the road test. Had Patrick F, and Richard B as my instructors! Amazing experience. Just being able to easily book slots online was a plus but the instructors were phenomenal!
Easy going, relaxing and just overall good interesting people!

My daughter loved driving with Coastline Academy. Her instructor was Michael B. Austin Driving School was booked 3 months out and we got in right away with Coastline. I believe they were new to Austin (summer of 2022). We did parent taught driving through Aceable and purchased 2-hour private lessons with Coastline (I believe she did 5 lessons). These initial lessons got her to the point where I could drive with her without a high level of anxiety. She still needed practice of course, but I didn't have to teach her how to use the gas, brake, etc. They pick the driver up (hugely convenient). It's a true drivers ed car w/ brake on passenger side, and they have a camera in the car for safety. Scheduling was easier. Customer service was excellent every time I called. I highly recommend.

I just wanted to buy one lesson for my son as a safety refresher - and I liked that this was an option. Jimmy was his instructor - and was amazing! Highly recommend.

About halfway through the lessons and it’s going great! Michael is a wonderful instructor and my daughter feels comfortable driving with him. She’s learned so much and parallel parks like a champ!

Highly recommed Sir Jimmy he is a very good instructor. He will really explain to you different techniques on how to properly execute the needed skill.

Easy to schedule, good instructor in a quality car. What more can you ask for. So much better than the other local, more established driving schools in Austin.
