Sometimes, you just want a good meal in the middle of the week so after reading great reviews about this place on a FB group called Charlotte Foodies, I decided to give it a try and my fiancee and I were not disappointed! Why 5 stars?? Let me share why!!❤!! The moment we opened the door, we were welcomed by two nice employees, we were on a mission to try the nachos! Ambiance- not to loud, keep it that way please!! Food: sooooo good!! The pork rinds were hot and fresh, very good flavor. The nachos, my fiancee gives them 4/5 stars only because the tortillas are the bagged ones instead of actual fried tortilla chips and were kind of cold but the pulled pork was out of this world! I ordered the wings and I ate them so fast because they were the Best I have found so far (I am a chicken wings lover!!). Place was very clean, the waiter was present all the time and checking on us. Price is very reasonable, so that makes it easier on people because we know how expensive eating out has gotten and quality has decreased in many places. Not at this place. At least, in Matthews. We will be back❤ .

Jodi served me and my mom at the bar. I am visiting from New Jersey and I gotta say her service made the whole experience incredible. She suggested at the end of our meal a banana pudding moonshine that was Incredible. If you don’t have room for dessert but want something sweet I would 100% recommend going with that. Jodi was so incredibly sweet and knowledgeable that she made me want to come back again!!

Started off with the pulled pork egg rolls, then crushed a bunch of smoked wings that literally fell off the bone. Finished the dinner with a salad that had perfectly blackened shrimp. Only negative was I had trouble getting in my truck I was so full😆

My favorite bbq place in Charlotte. Burnt ends are the best. Chopped brisket was good but not on the level of the burnt ends.

I'm just adding on to a prior review. I was invited here for a belated birthday outing with some friends. We sat at the bar on the far end. We had a few beers and some cocktails, and our bartenders name was Lauren. Phenomenal bartender and the hostess with the mostest. Great personality, very engaging and attentive. We had Brisket Nachos, a Cuban, and a Smokehouse Dip, which I ordered as Lauren highly recommended this particular sandwich. It came with a nice healthy serving of smokehouse au jus, which I also used on my garlic, Parmesan mashed potatoes. All of the food and appetizers were very nicely done. The service(Lauren) and the vibe are exceptional in a laid-back relaxing atmosphere. Just a really great place to kick back, relax, and enjoy some really good food, appetizers, and beverages of your choosing. I'm meeting a colleague here as it is mutually accessible for both of us. I've been to the original location of Mac's Speed Shop on South Blvd on any number of occasions. They've done a phenomenal job of replicating that experience and vibe. We met in the middle of the afternoon on Friday, and they still managed to have a respectable turnout for that time of day.
We split the pulled-pork nachos and had a beer(or 2) and a cocktail.
The beer and cocktails were outstanding, as were the nachos.
It's a very vibrant and lively atmosphere with plenty of seating and TV's available.
Yet, you could actually have a nice conversation without being unnecessarily overwhelmed by the noise. The staff members were very pleasant, helpful, and friendly.
Rachael (I believe) was the on-duty manager and was exceptionally kind when speaking with her.
The restaurant was exceptionally clean, as were the restrooms and exterior of the building.
I look forward to returning to this restaurant and any other restaurant that has Mac's Speed Shop on the building.

Our group of three ordered their deviled eggs (mine are better), nachos, cornmeal shrimp with okra and chili, and a Cuban with sweet potato fries.
Everything was good and we enjoyed our visit.
It was a little too loud in this restaurant.

Saint Pat's day was a moment. To see all the staff celebrating the holiday was exciting. Our waitress was so helpful in helping us choose our meal. Her little self was so friendly. The bathroom was clean, and you don't see that often at other restaurants. Now I have to honestly say the Mamosa was just Orange juice. But we didn't complain due to the good service we had overall.

We came with our baseball team after a game...party of 20 and called last minute. We had great service and the food was delicious! When we visit again, we will definitely return. The pic is my entree the Hot Damn and Cheese. Delicious 😋

I tried Mac’s in Matthews for the first time a few days ago, I ordered a pork sandwich with fries. The food was good and my service was excellent. But what drove me to give a 5 star rating was the bartender Alex. He was very fast and made the best drinks, but most importantly he made me feel like family. His compassion and kindness really touched my heart as I just lost my brother not too long ago. The holidays were difficult to get by, but stopping by Mac’s Speed Shop and having a conversation with Alex made me forget. An angel sent from God! A truly amazing experience.

This place is amazing! The food is great and they make all of their different options in house and smoke their own meats. The food is just amazing. I also love the atmosphere as it’s a place you can bring the family without worrying about having to keep your kids quiet the entire time. I highly recommend trying this place if you are in the area or haven’t tried it yet.

Maddie was one of the best bartenders I've ever had. I had the brisket plate that was delicious! The Mac n cheese is a must get! Also had the sweet potato fries that were good. Very good food!! 62 beers on tap helped wash it all down.

Yummy! Got eggrolls had pork slaw n mac in it and some semi spicy dipping sauce soooo good! I got some chopped brisket sandwich had fried onion bits on it. Got okra and mac n cheese omg the mac n cheese is soooo good yall!

Been to Mac's now quite a few times and have never been disappointed. The Mac and cheese here is always phenomenal and at our last visit we tried the Mashed potatoes for the first time and were blown away. The bbq platter here is always good and fresh and the service and atmosphere are perfect for some bbq eating. Can't say enough good things about this establishment.

Went there for lunch on a Saturday. I had my family with me. It was perfect. My grandchildren were getting a little cranky before we went. Our server was excellent! So good with the kids and very patient and attentive. Food was excellent. Atmosphere was perfect near the windows.

Amazing and delicious spot. Service was perfect and so friendly. Food was absolutely delish. Highly recommend the Brisket Quesadilla. Belinda the manager very sweet aa well.

Got 12 counts of burn out wings. They taste smoked. Very nice. Burn out is their spices sauce. Taste is good, but not spicy at all.

I mixed the wings with Flip-A-Los Atomic sauce, wow!! Smoky spicy taste. Made my drink more cold draft beer’s.

You guys should really think having a very spicy sauce like Flip-A-Los, your draft sell will double :-).

This is a temporary rating based on the Mathews, NC location not having their famous hush puppies available. I travel to NC occasionally for work and look forward to Mac’s hush puppies. This location was out or not serving these for my last 3 visits. I will now call the shop in advance or will dine & drink elsewhere. Easy fix Mac’s!!!

Ohhhh delicious!!! Just the right amount of smokiness. Terrific tap selection. Treat yourself to the Kansas City Beef Rib and eat it Fred Flintstone style. Then bring the bone home for your dog. Great service. Great atmosphere. Great dinner. Good parking.
