Stillwater has somehow kept this place a secret from Wisconsin people. Or maybe it's the wonderful new-ish bridge diverting traffic from historic downtown that made us miss it..... Regardless Wow! If you haven't you have to, if You've heard, then you know, and if you don't wanna know then you just plained missed out, on the second 🥈 most stunning experience I've ever had at a restaurant. Don't treat this place as a bar restaurant it's not even in the same breath. Long winded I apologize, for starters The lovely waitress offers us warm sugar donuts just as a treat. Spectacular idea. Then we indulged into this heavenly plate of Parmesan fries. I could have just had those and been happy. I had the capper burger. Perfectly cooked wonderfully done personally I'd 86 the ciabata bun for a pretzel bun or traditional bun but it didn't downgrade it at all. my wife had the carbonara... that may have edged out The Post American Eatery .. maybe. It was bursting with flavor absolutely a masterpiece. We ended with some delightful key lime pie. Perfect service perfect food perfect atmosphere. All at 4:00 on a Monday. Standards set high bar none. Mic drop Mad capper. Well done Chef well done all. I'll be back and this time I'll charge my phone one more time Chef well down 😉

Every time I’ve been here the last couple years has been just spectacular. Wonderful staff and the food has been just delightful!
We went for Mother’s Day and their special menu did not disappoint!

We popped in for a quick drink 🍸 and an appetizer. I am intrigued by the menu and interested in returning. We got the Burrata Crostini with an old fashioned and wine 🍷. Super fancy and delicious. I see this being a standard stop on our future Stillwater visits.

Good food and excellent service! The espresso madmartini was amazing! ❤ The food was good and service was spot on! There is a large screen TV. The space is fun. If you’re visiting Stillwater this a great stop for some food or drinks or both! All of us enjoyed our meals. They were not stingy on the alcohol so have a designated driver or plan like we did to shop for a few hours! 🕶🛍 I could see this place being packed on weekends in the summer. We were here on Sat in Oct. Also there is market fee. We were a little surprised by that. So just a heads up! 😃🤷‍♂ We didn’t mind! ❤

Delicious burger! And outstanding Brussels sprouts. I started off with a mock tail that was reasonably priced and incredible! For apps we ordered the arancini and the ala frita. The Ala Frita was the best bite of the meal! For the entree I ordered the Benedict burger. I am not a burger lover, but it sounded amazing so I ordered it. The Burger was amazing!!

this place has really good food for a decent price! i got the chicken avocado melt, and the portion size was bigger than expected and tasted so so good. their parmesan fries are also really good although they cost extra. our server was also really nice and we got free refills on our shirley temples. definitely recommend this place if you’re in stillwater!

I just had lunch here for the first time and this place was absolutely amazing. The servers were very attentive, the food was incredible, and the atmosphere was on point. Thank you!!

Recently, I visited this profound establishment. From the point of entry all the way to my seat, I was greeted with top-tier service. My choice of food was the cowboy burger.
Once my burger arrived promptly, it wasn't cold or too hot. Each bite was nothing shy of delicious, aromatic, yummy, flavorful, appetizing, mouth-watering, luscious, tender, and scrumptious. The presentation of the burger complimented what each bite tasted like. I particularly loved the bun to meat ratio. The meat was 100% real beef, and the bread was toasted to perfection. If anyone is in the community for a mouth-watering burger, I behoove you too try them out, you won't be disappointed.

Love this place. One of my favorites in town. I took my girl here on our first date so it always have a special place in my heart. Food is wonderful and delicious and the bar makes some good mean drinks. Staff are friendly and the styling is really fun saloon style.

Stopped in for a few drinks and appetizer-what a gem! The atmosphere was excellent, music not too loud but you could still hear it. The decor is creative and fun.

We had a few of the craft cocktails and they were absolutely fantastic. It also helps they have a killer bartender and bar manager who were both super friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and enthusiastic about what they do. It’s great staff like them that make all the difference.

We also ordered the fries to share. Delicious and just enough for two.

I have yet to have a mediocre dish! The chef can cook anything and it’s all amazing! Not-to-mention, the staff are lovely… respectful, fun, and upbeat personalities. Chelsea was my server today, she’s fantastic. This is, hands down, my favorite place to eat.

In general their food and drinks are pretty good. Their fish leaves something to be desired though. I've gotten the walleye and the F&C a few times and they're both disappointing

Atmosphere is great. Has a nice darker tone but bright enough light to not make it feel dungeon-y. Service has been touch and go. There have been times when it feels we were straight-up forgotten and other times well taken care of.

My favorite place in Stillwater! I didn't get a picture of the crostini - my favorite - because I can't help but dig in right away when it's delivered to the table. Enjoyable cocktails - had the Bada Bing, which I recommend. Service was friendly and quick.

I have been here 2x and both times the food was absolutely amazing! So good it felt sinful. Can't wait to go back and try more items off of their broad menu. I had the grilled chicken pesto sandwich the first time, superb. This time I had the house salad with the white balsamic and the appetizer of the ravioli bites and those were drool worthy! Service was top notch, and a very relaxed environment.

Louisa is amazing!!!! She is a friendly, bubbly, and knowledgeable waitress who provided quick service and great recommendations. I also spoke with the manager, Jen, and she is helpful and delightful. Although I will dearly miss the old menu - especially the burgers, sandwiches, and soups that were sold at the Mad Capper for at least 40 years, the items that I tasted from the new menu were absolutely delicious. The Pink Prada Cozmo was good as it had a nice cucumber flavor. I really enjoyed the Butternut Squash & Goat Cheese salad - it had perfectly roasted walnuts, nicely sized chunks of squash, and tasty dressing. I also tried the Bigoli, and wow it was so good! It had thick al dente homemade noodles, wonderfully flavored fennel sausage red sauce with a little kick, and delicate shredded Parmesan sprinkled on top. However, my favorite part of the meal was the Ricotta Bruschetta. The crispy well done toast, creamy ricotta, and sweet flavor from the figs and local honey was the perfect combination.

I went back after having a bad first impression and I am absolutely blown away by their service. The server I had was super friendly and clearly enjoys his job. The gnocchi is absolutely amazing and so is the cowboy burger and the meatballs. I am definitely coming back.

My family stays in Stillwater at least twice a year when visiting family near by and on a recent visit we stumbled into Mad Capper and what a wonderful surprise it was. It may seem like another bar/restaurant, but it is not. The food was fantastic and so was the service.

We stopped in for lunch one day when another favorite restaurant down the block was a bit too busy and what a bit of luck that was as we now love the Mad Capper. Two of us in our party of three ordered the walleye plate and we both thought it was the best walleye plate we've ever had. It wasn't overly breaded and it was so, so crisp. The Asian style green beans and crispy roasted potatoes were a perfect accompaniment. Seriously, this is a can't miss dish.

We loved the walleye plate so much, we came back the next night for dinner so that the third member of our party, who didn't order it at lunch, could order it for dinner. On our second visit, in addition to one walleye plate, we had the beef stew and pasta with tomato sauce. Both were great too.

I also love how they start you with an amuse bouche of a mini donut. Yum!

Both of our servers were excellent, but because it was slower at dinner, we really had a chance to get to know our server Lexi, which just added to our dining experience.

We'll be back again and again on future visits to Stillwater.

It has been years since my husband and I went here. It was one of his favorite restaurants. He passed away in 2017 but his nephew and family like to celebrate his birthday which today it was. We always cheers to a PBR. Something not on their menu any longer. Our waitress went up and beyond helping us celebrate today. So grateful. Service and food very good.

I have enjoyed every visit to the Capper. The food is always so good I clean my plate, and the servers are serving with a smile. Great atmosphere, lighting and music. It’s a must stop downtown Stillwater.

This a great American bar with your standard burgers and fries, but with a super unique twist. Definitely try the candied jalapeno and peanut butter burger. The truffle fries are also great! We had amazing and attentive service and will definitely return the next time we're in town.
