What an awesome little gem! The drive-in is easy to find and offers a wonderful experience for every family. We had such a great time and cannot wait to go back. They have extremely inexpensive concessions that is stocked with all of the movie classic that we grew up with. There were a lot of families that chose to grill out and bring their own food, which was fun to see. I recommend bringing your own radio instead of using your car radio.

I have spent most my life going to this place! Very little has changed about it and thats one thing I love! Its an amazing atmosphere and the dollar hot dogs are great! Bring cash as thats all they take but if you are wondering if you should go, do it!

Great price, great hotdogs and if you come prepared you can have a great time before the movies start! It reminded me of tailgating, but with my parents high school music playing in the background!
We will certainly be coming again💕.

A flash back to the old days, at an affordable price,
You'll have a Great experience here ! The food was suprising Good and also real reasonably priced, I recommend their burgers, was shocking good.
Sounds comes through the car stereos, and picture quality was better than I expected.
A perfect place to take the whole family, and not have to break the bank to do so.
I highly recommend

CORONA VIRUS UPDATE: (7/22/20)
Several things have changed here due to the virus: ¹ There is one car, instead of two, between each speaker post. Makes it easy to socially distance. ² For concessions, you have to wait in line outside of concession stand (please wear masks and socially distance in line). ³ Radios are not rented during this time. ⁴ Showing 2 older, but fun movies, instead of 3 new ones (there are no new movies being released in theaters at this time, due to the pandemic- at least we can still have fun here for $5, per person per movie and still enjoy ourselves).

ORIGINAL REVIEW :
Vali-hi Drive-in Movie Theater in Lake Elmo is one of our favorite places to be in the summer & warmer months of the year. We even go towards the end of the season, when it's getting down right cold at night, to see how long we can brave it. ;) The movies start at dusk or just after dark, so if you catch all three, you're there until the wee hours of the morning.

After coining here a few times, we learned we needed to prepare a little more, by bringing mosquito repellent, our own camping chairs, blankets, sunscreen, grill, charcoal, drinks &food. We still buy food from the concession stand to support the owners, because we love this place. We learned to come very early (4-4:30 pm) so all of us could get in front of the line and get the best spaces for us and to bring our boom box, so we don't have to drain our car battery to use the auxiliary switch to keep our car radio on. But, if you choose to use your car radio and your battery goes dead, they have free battery jumpers to help you and are very nice. They also have radios to rent out for a reasonable price.

3 movies are shown each week. They normally start with a kid/family friendly movie. The 2nd feature is a somewhat family friendly movie and they finish up with a feature geared more towards adults, usually with a PG13 or R rating. Sometimes a movie will be held over a week or two, you can always check their website on Fridays for the current movies.

I wish there were more of these places. Vali-Hi is the only one left that has so many options. Just love it!!!

This place is awesome. Cheap prices for food and tickets/admission (9.50 for adults, 1.00 for kids 6-12, and 5 and under are free). The service there was speedy in my experience.

3 movies are shown: 2 family friendly and 1 for adults (rated R, etc) .

Get there early to have first picks on spots!! Like 2 hours early.

They also have radios you can rent if you dont wanna drain your cars battery (get it asap). All you have to do is show your ID. Same thing goes for jumper cables/batteries in case you need to jump your car.

You can also bring dogs, seating, and even bbq things to cook (or bring your own food in).

Overall a good experience!

Fun experience! We went on a Tuesday evening mid-August and first movie started at 9 pm. We arrived around 7 pm and more than enough open parking spots if you just arrived before 9 pm. Weekends probably a different experience.

Pro Tip: borrow your dogs' beds for the bed of the truck. Can get dusty, careful of your eyes as people drive by. First movie started at 9:30, second was at midnight. Good number of people on a Friday night but wasn't packed full. Wish they would start loaning out the radios again. Was a little disappointed by the popcorn but we should've planned better and brought snacks/drinks with us.

This place is awesome for families! Get there early when the gate opens and find a good spot. Bring some fun stuff for your kids to do. You can bring a grill and cook or buy a burger, hotdog, or nachos from concessions. It's a super fair price for 3 movies... Even if you don't stay for all 3. Movie starts just after dark and you can listen to it on your car stereo or they have the old school speakers to hook on your window. If you've got an SUV/van load up with blankets and put the seats down in the back. Back it in and make a little bed in the back. Open up the back door and watch laying down. Or from chairs outside... but bring the bug spray!

Only drive-in left in this part of the Metro area. Reasonable prices for admission and snacks. Friendly, helpful, capable staff. Almost a festive atmosphere.
However, if you don't want the screen to be about the size of your iPad mini held at arms length get there early. Early early early.

Had a blast with my family at this long time drive-in. The movies for five people for less than the cost of one at the Cineplex is a steal. Cheery concession stand and great audio from our car speakers made it a great night. Starts after sundown so be ready for a late night.

This place is the #1 reason why I cannot wait for summer!!!! It was where Chris & I had first official date and it became a bi-weekly date night for the last 2 years! Everytime we have gone there it was a night to remember! Especially last August when HE PROPOSED!😍😄❤💍💐💒 we need more drive-in theatres in this decade! I would give more stars to this place if I could!

Just like everyone else says. Get here early so bring something to do for a couple hours.

Remember moves start about 930 1130 and stupid o'clock in the morning.

I'd bring a radio to play music so you don't have to rely on your car stereo.

Really enjoyed our drive-in movie night. Covid setup allows only 50% capacity which leaves a very comfortable amount of space between vehicles.

So much fun for any age. You can bring your own food and drinks. They also have great buttery popcorn and clean bathrooms. Very affordable too

The fiance and I came here last Sunday for date night. I was really impressed with the fact they had 3 "scary" movies playing. The only thing is, it would be really nice if they could update the screen to Atleast 1080p super hd or something because IT chapter 2 was a really good movie, but it's Sooo hard to see the screen, it's too dark.

This has been one of my families favorite places ever! I never experienced a drive-in movie until I went here. Then I took my kids and they loved it! Dollar dogs, grilling, my kids playing with other kids while waiting for the movies to play and being carefree. It was an experience unlike any other. I will sadly miss this place if it closes down. Such great memories!

A rare place to experience a snapshot of history. It’s like walking into the film American Graffiti. Classic place with good people and an authentic environment. I hope they reopen.

The real McCoy. Can take a few visits to get it down. Can be an endurance watching experience starting after night and ending in the wee hours. From another time though the promenade to the snack shack between movies may hold the same tension between the boys and girls 😂
