Great hobby shop with a bit of everything. Has model rocket kits, an extensive train selection, plastic car/truck and military vehicle kits. All the accessories you could need. The owner is really kind and helpful.

Fantastic store with a wide variety of model trains, track, scenery, and accessories. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We will definitely make this a regular stop when we visit Gettysburg.

This shop is awesome due to its owner! Mr Gilbert is personable and professional, a rarity in today’s society. Love his sign inside his store on rules of conduct! His stock is excellent and his knowledge of same is on point! Definitely a must go to shop!

Was there in March of 1969 after touring the Battlefield. An absolutely amazing store with seemingly endless rows of motive power along the wall. I'm glad it's still around, so many model trains shops have closed over the years.

Been coming here for a little while now, after recently moving to the area. So far I've been very impressed with the service, as well as how knowledgeable the owner, Tommy, and the other guys that work there are when it comes to all things model trains. If you have a question, they'll most likely know the answer lol

As far as the store goes, its got a nice, albeit a bit cramped, atmosphere. Though this is coming from a 6' 4" tall, thicker built guy, so thats not surprising lol But its a very well lit, well stocked, store, with a LOT of model railroading stuff to choose from.

I do wish there was a bit more N scale stuff in stock, but its still a pretty decent selection, and I always manage to find quite a bit of stuff any time I come here. For HO scale though, theres more stuff in stock than you can imagine! Rows and rows of HO scale stuff, both old and new, used or unused, and everything in between, so you're bound to find something that'll work for you! And they even have a pretty healthy selection of O gauge stuff as well!

Would highly recommend this place to others looking to get into model railroading, or to those who have been in the hobby for a while.

Great hobby shop. Incredibly large selection of HO scale locomotives and rolling stock. All kinds of little pieces, parts and accessories that are difficult to find elsewhere. Decent selection of plastic model kits: aircraft, tanks/armour and cars. Some cool vintage NASCAR kits as well. Really friendly service and good prices; got a good deal on a model kit that was priced lower than online competitors.

One of the best hobby shops in the area and Tommy knows his Model Railroading stuff! He's very helpful and has a great stock of supplies for most model railroaders to pick from. Stopping into the shop isn't just great for picking up supplies, but it also comes with some great conversation and a humble feeling while you're there.

Tommy is a great guy. Last time I visited was when I was about 5 or 6 years old. Just came up from South Carolina and was passing through the area. Would definitely recommend any modeler visit. He has a bunch of new/old stock that is reasonably priced.

I have been a customer of Tommy Gilbert's Hobby Shop for years. Very well stocked, especially with N-scale rolling stock. Mr. Gilbert is probably one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He and the other gentlemen that work there are always happy to answer any questions, and have a good conversation. If you are in the area and have any interest in model railroading this is the place to stop.

Tommy's store was great! He had a wonderful, fairly up-to-date selection of N scale rolling stock. He was very helpful and recommended another shop in Gettysburg to purchase O scale products. I wish there were more train stores and small shop owners like him!

Best hobby shop I've been to. They have a great selection for more than just trains (I tend to stick to Gunpla and non-scale kits) that is restocked pretty often. Lots of Tamiya products, diorama pieces, landscape supplies and tools to get the job done. Prices are comparable or better than online retailers like Amazon. Staff has always been able to answer my questions and are just nice to talk to. Glad to have a place like this so close by.

Enjoy traveling to Tommy Gilbert's in Gettysburg, PA all the way from Waldorf and Edgewater, Maryland. Tommy has one of the most enjoyable hobby shops since Aunt Pitty Pat left Atlanta. Fully stocked with everything a model railroaded needs, including scratch building supplies, paints and tools. Has everything for other type modelers as well. The place is full of history, charm, and good people. Looking forward to my next visit. Not only is one most likely to find and leave with what their looking for, they're most likely to leave with a smile as well. I can't praise this fine establishment enough.

My dad would take us to Gilbert's when I was a kid visiting grand parents in Emmitsburg. 1950s
Loved going and getting model airplanes. Still have a few of them.
Great that family is still there. Assume me Gilbets kids are still owners
