El Maguey - Lake Side Mexican Restaurant

Wonderful place to eat. Had the street tacos with a combo of steak, chicken and pork. All were fantastic. My dinning partner had enchiladas Supreme which he very much enjoyed.

Came back recently with a group of friends and had another delightful experience! Fish tacos, and a wonderful jalapeño margarita!!

Beautiful view of the Lake! Frozen margarita consistency could have been more solid, but the flavor was nice. Delicious food. Service was attentive but not overbearing. Will be going back!

Ordered for office holiday lunch. Food was great, and delivery was on time. Staff was super nice to work out the order with me, since there is no catering menu.

My husband and I used to live 5 mins from this place. We now live 2.5 hours north.

We were regulars when we lived close by. We both still work in St.Louis and whenever time allows, we stop in to get dinner and invite local friends to join us.

We've both lived in multiple states, and this is by far one of the best Mexican restaurants we have ever been to.

Great food like like always. It was towards the end of the night, but the kitchen and the wait staff were amazing. Fast and everyone had a smile.

This is my go to spot! The lakeside is so peaceful, food always fresh, and staff is quick and friendly. If you haven't been because "it's El Maguey" give this place a try! I drive from Troy to here because It's the best one in the area. It's different than the rest!

Great view on the patio! I had Yolandas which were 3 chicken enchiladas. This dish was good but what made the meal were the chips and queso. I highly recommend getting queso with your chips!

This is our absolutely favorite and always safe go to for Mexican. They are always fast and hot. They also make whatever additions we want to add to the meal.

I wish I could give this restaurant a good rating, but I can not. The service was very slow, which resulted in cold, greasy food. In most Mexican restaurants, when you order fajitas, it comes out sizzling, and you're warned the skillet is hot. This was not the case here. We also had to ask for the tortillas, which resulted in more waiting to start eating our meal. I don't like leaving bad reviews, but this time, it's warranted. The food was cold and greasy. Service was slow and not good. When we asked for our bill, it took our server quite a long time to return with it and a couple of to go boxes. This bill was wrong and had extra charges on it. We had an extra drink added to our bill as well as some random charges. I asked our server to correct our bill and explain what the extra charges were. She tried to explain and it was difficult to understand her so we requested to speak to the manager. The manager walked over with a sour look on his face and proceeded to yell at us. I haven't been that embarrassed in a very long time. He told us that "we have to pay for the Styrofoam boxes for our leftovers, and the order to go" (I ordered some food to take home for the kids) had multiple boxes that we also had to pay for. Then he suggested we bring our own containers for leftovers and to go orders in the future. We were also charged for using a credit card instead of cash. I was in shock! He was loud, rude, and very condescending. People at the near by tables were looking and listening to the spectacular performance of this man and his overbearing display. Needless to say, I will nevr eat there again, no way José! All in all, if subpar cold, greasy Mexican food served at a dirty restaurant is your thing, then you're in luck. Also, bring cash and your own containers if you are ordering To Go or think you may have leftovers.

Every time we come here, we're treated great. The service is excellent, and the food is always hot, fresh, and delicious. The top-shelf margaritas can't be beat. Never have a bad experience here, and we come at least 3 times a month.
