John Schott of The Furniture Shop took my grandmothers 102 year old mirror that had been painted (again & again by my mom) and carefully removed all the paint. He then restored it to its original gold tone with antique finish to help the plaster embellishment stand out. His work is flawless and he takes such care to bring back to life the old and tired pieces that are actually heirlooms. I highly recommend John and The Furniture Shop and would take my business there again! (Photo not the greatest but the mirror and frame are 102 years old!)

I have a 3 piece wall unit. The middle piece is a bookcase with a folding desk. The desk was damaged, I believed, beyond repair. John was able to restore it and it looks as good as it did 43 years ago. It is actually stronger and sturdier than it was originally.

John did such a good job with reupholstering our formal dining room chairs. Everything came out beautiful! He was quick and easy to work with. Good/fair pricing. I would definitely recommend him for furniture refinishing or reupholstering!

I had two Sligh dressers that were passed down from my aunt that were in rough shape, the seventy year old finish was clouded and crazed. Beautiful work and worth having fixed up, they really don't make furniture like that anymore.

John does awesome work. He is very passionate about what he does. We had early 1900’s handmade rocker re caned and painted. It looks like new. My wife’s Dad was rocked in this rocker as a baby. We are overjoyed how it came out. If you need furniture repaired don’t go anywhere else.

My husband and I are expecting our first child in October and we decided to use my crib from the 80s. It is solid wood and had been stored in an attic with no climate control. John picked up the crib from my home, refinished it, and dropped it back off. My The crib came out so nice! He buffed out the many bite marks from my sister and I then put a new finish on it. You can see how passionate John is about his work and it shows through results. I would definitely recommend John for any furniture needs.

Amazing experience. I had some mid century pieces that needed to be refinished due to damage. They did such an amazing job coming to my house to give me an estimate on the pieces, picking up the pieces to bring to the shop, then delivering them to my house. And on top of all of that, they moved the old furniture we were replacing out of the bedroom and put our new furniture that they just refinished into it. You can’t get better customer service than that.

And I know people want to know pricing, because that’s very important. They were wonderful on pricing. Worth every penny and would recommend this company to anyone!!!!

After having our living area repainted (an off white) two years ago, I began shopping for lighter colored furniture. I soon realized that the furniture we purchased after Katrina, being solid wood, was of better quality & was indeed worthy of a facelift.
Fortunately, I learned about John Schott, of The Furniture Shoppe.
John came to our home to view the area and to get an idea of what we wanted done. He & Cory, his assistant, took several pieces at a time back to the Shoppe.
John lightened up each of the darker wooden furniture pieces, including a large entertainment center, a large gold framed mirror, two metal art hanging pieces, two metal framed snack bar chairs, recovering the cushions w/fabric I chose, then treating each piece as a work of art, distressed them all, adding character & charm to each piece.
I cannot say enough about the quality of John’s work, his pleasant disposition, timely manner, in spite of extremely hot weather conditions, his willingness to go above and beyond to make sure his clients are satisfied w/the finished project. We love our new living room!!!

John designed, built & custom finished a cabinet for my business according to my specifications. It's hand made from solid wood, looks like it's 100 years old and is absolutely beautiful. I had an idea in my head of what I needed, John took my input and gave me something ten times better than I imagined for a price that was very affordable. I cannot recommend him highly enough, it was a wonderful experience doing business with a true craftsman that takes pride in his work, and that's not very common these days.

This gentleman took my mother's 80 year old cedar hope chest which needed a couple of repairs, and took such loving care if it while maintaining all it's character of a long life well lived. My mother was very concerned that the character of the piece would be erased, but John assured her that he would just make it look like it had been well cared for while maintaining all it's character (even though he would have loved to have refinished the piece 😅). He returned the chest today and my mother and I were astounded and ecstatic at how brautiful it looked!! John did exactly what he said he would do....make it look well love and cared for while maintaining all the character. This man obviously loves his work and the pieces he works on. It shows in the quality of the work he does. If I could give him more than 5 stars I certainly would. I can't recommend him highly enough!! Thank you John! You do beautiful work!!

John fixed my extremely heavy dresser that my movers cracked all along the hinges of my doors in the dresser. I thought it was hopeless and he performed his miracles and you can’t even tell! Everything works like it did when it was brand new. He was prompt, quick and reasonably priced.. He even came to my home to do it. I highly recommend him and will be using him in the near future to repair 2 antique items that my dog chewed on.

I was so pleased with the work done here my i lost my mom and this was one of her prize possesions her dinning table an chairs i had a house fire and John put life back into the chairs love love what was done

First had John recover 6 dining chairs my husband inherited. Was very happy with them so showed him a side table that was my grandmother's that I had partially stripped before realizing how big a job it was and has been sitting in my attic for years. Originally asked for one color of stain and he called me after getting the stripping done and suggested another color. He just delivered it and I am VERY happy with the results. It doesn't look like "new", but it shouldn't due to it's age and history. It is beautiful while still showing its character. John loves his work and I would highly recommend him.

Professional service, reasonable prices and prompt delivery. Instead of replacing my kitchen cabinets, John helped me with design ideas and guided me to pick a color that matched my kitchen perfectly. He refinished all 25 doors. He even helped me install some of the trickier cabinets. . I would use his services again on future remodels.. Easy to work with and VERY professional.

We owned an office credenza that was 40+ years old. It had great bones but was clearly a bit dated. After finding The Furniture Shop on the NextDoor app and after reading the reviews, we called for a consult. John was very kind and professional. He clearly saw our vision of paint and new hardware.
