Sherbeyn's Lawn & Landscape

Sherbeyn's has done several projects for us at 2 different houses over the past 12 years. The designs have always been thoughtful and creative; the workmanship has been impeccable, and the results have brought us joy and added value to our homes. Sherbeyn's crews show up when they say they will, they are polite and hard-working, and they leave the job site clean at the end of every day. We have recommended Sherbeyn's to our friends and neighbors, and we will continue to do so. I can't imagine letting anyone else do an outdoor project for us.

I contacted well over half a dozen contractors regarding the work I needed done. Donald Sherbeyn was truly impressive in his knowledge and his ability to offer various solutions. The work was completed as scheduled. There was one issue, as I’ve found happens sometimes. I called Donald. He answered the phone and told me my issue would be addressed early the next morning and it was. I suppose the true worth of a contractor is whether a customer would use a company again. Wouldn’t have to think about it for a second to have Sherbeyn’s do work again. Truly impressive!

Sherbeyn's is the best landscaping business around. They always finish the job quickly and efficiently. Their most outstanding trait is how they pay attention to every detail no matter what the project. I highly recommend them to everyone who wants an affordable quality result.

These guys are first class. The designed a beautiful sidewalk, courtyard and landscape for our home and installed it perfectly. Donald and his crew are pleasant, hardworking and courteous at all times. I highly recommend them for any of your hardacape and landscape needs!

Not the biggest garden center but a very good mix of flowers, vegetable plants, etc for it's size. Prices are reasonable too.

Best service, very nice people. So happy we chose them, would never use anyone else.

Great company that does excellent work!

You hate to post a negative review about someone in your community but folks have a right to know. In my experience, this guy doesn't care about quality as much as he cares about making a quick buck from trusting clients like my wife and I.
We recently built a new home in Culpeper County and Don came out to do an assessment. Nice fella; Slick talker - one who doesn't worry about the results.
He was initially hired to grade the area around the build site and get grass to grow. He did "ok" at the grading portion (that's why he gets two stars instead of just one) but all the dirt that was used was rocky fill from the foundation that the builders had thrown up in a big pile. No nutrients at all, just nasty, gravelly clay.
Because I hadn't given it much thought, I didn't consider that we needed top soil as bad as we did. That's my fault. But it's also the reason we hired Don, a landscaper. It's his job to tell us these things - otherwise we'd of course just do it ourselves. It was last summer, that super hot summer, and while the construction was wrapping up, we couldn't be there all the time to water the seed he threw down. No surprise it didn't grow. A responsible and honest landscaper would've said, "Look, y'all aren't gonna get the results you want this Summer, let's hold off till Fall, bring in top soil and do it right." That would've been the intellectually honest thing to do. That is exactly what Don Sherbeyn did NOT do, satisfied to get thousands of dollars from us then, rather than waiting to do it correctly, later.
Again, it's totally our fault for not knowing what we didn't know and I'll be the first to admit it. My warning to anyone considering this character is "educate yourself" because he sure won't.
We've done a lot of landscaping at the house with other folks since we fired Don and couldn't be more happy that we asked him not to return.

Be very careful about this contractor. At the time of contracting to perform work on our new home totaling over $100,000 he only held a Class C license which only allows a contract value not to exceed $10,000. He asks for up to 65% up front, which doesn't motivate him to fulfill the contractual obligations. I had to keep my mouth shut while substandard work was performed as I was "upside down" on the contract balance. When he claimed the work was finished, I pointed out the deficiencies and what needed to be corrected. Instead of fulfilling his obligation to perform, he hires an attorney and to date I've spent thousands of dollars in legal fees. Additionally, it will cost in excess of $15,000 to repair the work he would not correct. Stay away from this guy!
