If you need a beautiful and relaxing place to walk your dog while on a road trip, stop at St Mark’s lighthouse. It is 11 miles off the road but worth the trip! A bird watching location with lots of trails. Dogs allowed on trails with a leash.

2nd oldest lighthouse in Florida!

Very cool history with the Confederate and Union armies.

Beautiful lighthouse and living quarters that you can walk through and get the history of the lighthouse.

Free admission to the lighthouse, although there is a $5 vehicle registration fee at the entry to the state park.

There are many trails in this park that are really nice to hike.

We really liked cedar point trail!

Watch out for alligators! 🐊.

If you’re a birder, this spot has to be on your list if you visit the area! Even if you’re not a birder, this spot should be on your list. Phenomenal location for waterfowl especially. The lighthouse is beautiful! Lots of hiking trails and unpaved biking trails. The road is narrow so not great for biking on the main road. In the warmer months, this is “the” location to see massive alligators — and you can almost always spot one from the road without getting out of the car.

This is a wonderful location for photos. We shoot here often and are always blown away by the natural beauty and beautiful light of the space. We see some local wildlife at every shoot, and we're very thankful to have such a stunning location nearby to Tallahassee.

This place is beautiful, amazing, stunning... the refuge is pretty secluded so the trails will provide amazing opportunities to see an abundance of wildlife. I came during their annual Monarch festival. One of my favs!!!

We drove out to St. Marks Lighthouse located in the St. Marks National Wildlife refuge. It's a nice drive thru the refuge with restrooms along the way. The lighthouse was not open the day we were there but they do tours on Friday thru Sunday's.
It is worth the drive out to see it and all the different birds and possible other wildlife!.

Beautiful national wildlife refuge! Nice visitor center with helpful employees that are excited about the area. The restrooms are clean and well maintained. It cost $5 to enter and was totally worth it! The lighthouse was closed today, but it is open occasionally. I highly recommend visiting. Make sure you take time to explore. There are many trails throughout the area and you could spend an entire day here. There was also a very nice picnic area overlooking one of the ponds if you want to pack a lunch and spend the day!

Loved visiting St. Mark's. The lighthouse is gorgeous with having access to the beach to swim, fish, crab, or just relax and get some sun. Was quite a bit of traffic when we went, but I'd say that's bc of the 4th of July holiday. Bathrooms, benches, and a covered staircase overlooking the water at the actual light house with other seating areas and views galore. Would definitely recommend visiting and packing a picnic lunch. Pet friendly

After a friendly chat with the Keeper, we explored the various rooms and artifacts. The staff/volunteers are welcoming and knowledgeable. The location is beautiful and although you can’t climb the lighthouse, it’s worth the visit.

A cool gem of Florida. It has lots of hiking trails, boat ramps, and beaches to walk on. If you get a chance take a tour of the lighthouse and hear its history. They're always doing cool events here and have lots of cool features. I would bring the family here for a day of fun

This is the place to be if you love lighthouses, birds, and a nice walk. We were there in January and it was very quiet. Behind the Lighthouse is a small beach where you can walk along the water. In front of the lighthouse is a small observation deck, which is ideal for taking a picture. The entry to the park was $5, and we stayed there for an hour on our way from Tallahassee to Panama City Beach.

Visited on a Monday morning. Entry fee was $5. It takes 10 minutes to make it from the gate to the lighthouse. The lighthouse is closed, you cannot enter but the grounds and shoreline are. The park is full of Greenway trails for walking and running and biking. It's quiet and remote. Another good experience, when you're leaving, you'll pass a taqueria on the left if you're headed back to Tallahassee, stop there, it's awesome.
