Wonderful park in a great location. Nicely kept and clean. Plenty for the family or individuals to do.

Excellent walking or running track and trails. Nice upgraded modern play area and splash pad. Clean restrooms. Soccer field with bleachers. Basketball courts available. Gazebos and pavilions with grills for parties. Rental or first come 1st serve picnic tables in covered areas or concrete in several uncovered shaded areas. Boat ramp for river entry, landing. Ample parking. Stage behind Booker building that's available to rent for events. Great festival location for car, auto, and holiday events.

This is an amazing stop over or local city child park. We are camping in our RV not far from here and i am one to look for a park that would keep my 3yr content. If it we summer i would have to drag him away. But it just rained so his scooter and a towel have done well to keep him happy.

What a well done playground. We stopped here on our way through VA from NC to have lunch and there were multiple picnic benches available all covered and the kids enjoyed the park and all the different elements. This town has done such a good job maintaining this area. Great job!!

Big, open fields by the river. Many opportunities for picnicking at different sites. A popular play area for kids. Clean restrooms. Nicely paved trail along the river with pretty scenery.

Lots of room to walk, playground for kids, you cam ride a bike, or play basketball at the courts. Loved it.

This park is a must-visit for families!

The sprayground is simply amazing. Some splash pads have a handful of features, but Altavista really went above and beyond choosing a whole variety of elements to enjoy. Thankfully this site has something for kids of all ages. I saw many tiny toddlers enjoying the smaller water sprayers at a safe distance away from the huge drenching bucket, and I saw a lot of big kids getting their full of excitement going through rings of water spraying at them, and spinning other features to direct water at their friends. 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲. 👍

We went to English Park before it's recent renovation, and one of the things I loved about it was the unique wooden playground equipment. I was so excited to see that some of the uniqueness I loved from before was carried into the new design, with a wooden bridge, a tunnel underneath it, and a huge mound of rocks and wood chips all around it. Essentially, you have a fairly safe area for your little outdoor enthusiasts to feel like they're on a miniature adventure on their own.

Directly beside that unique area is a beautiful metal and plastic set of playground equipment with the latest bits of playground ingenuity that you'll find on many playgrounds in bigger cities. For Altavista to pour so much money, effort, and love into this is truly a gift to all of Campbell County and beyond.

There are also swings for kids of all abilities, there is a web climbing feature, and there are basketball courts here, which are great for the older kids.

𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗹𝘆 𝗧𝗶𝗽𝘀:

- As with any playground there are plenty of opportunities to get hurt, so make sure you bring along a first-aid kit for your family. Our kids got hurt way more than usual on the wood chips/mulch as well as the rope area of the web climbing feature. In the future, I'll probably bring lightweight pants to throw on them after playing in the sprayground, and once the weather cools down if they're wearing thick jeans they'll probably get hurt way less than they did on the opening weekend of the splashpad.

- The bathrooms are in good condition, but they get gross quickly, so plan to try and avoid them. Thankfully they're there if you or your child really needs it though. 😬

- Arrive to the splashpad with plenty of water and sunscreen! I didn't see a drinking fountain anywhere, but it's possible I missed it.

Great atmosphere, bring your kids plenty of ways to enjoy i went there for BBQ competition and lived the location and the setup

A really fun place to spend time with your family and friends, it is a multi sport and recreational space! The river is a plus.

Nice park with a splash pad for all ages...because who doesn't like to cool off on a hot summer day! The playground is so convenient. Having them in one shared area makes it easy to keep an eye on all the kids. Highly recommend.

For people who like walking and exercising comfortably with the sound of running water.

Great little park to eat lunch, take the kids for a few hours, or get a walk in. Bathrooms were clean and well kept.

Great place to take the kids during any season! In the summer the water side of the playground is a blast for the kids-they have so much fun on those ☀ days running threw the 💦 🪣 and sprinklers! For those cooler days you have the other side of the playground and beautiful trails threw the 🌳🌲 or you can stay on the blacktop making access a breeze for moms with a stroller. My kids love looking at the 🚂 on display and the old wooden boat. The Fall season brings the changing of the 🍁🍂 into vibrant colors and the enjoyment of watching the kids find the perfect 🍁 to take home with them. You can ride 🚲, 🛹, or throw a 🥏, kick the ⚽ around, or search for your favorite little critters 🐿🦫🐇, and on the windy days you could even fly a 🪁 or just sit together and enjoy a picnic. There are so many options for you and the family to enjoy! I hope you all have as much fun with your family as I do with mine!

My husband and I love visiting this park-- especially with our dogs. There are so many cool features, including the Splash Pad area for the kids, and the lookout they have, where you can sit and look over the river. Its great to be able to go into the river and cool off during the summer, as well. The park is beautiful, and well maintained, and the trails are nice to take a walk, or bike ride on.
