Capt. Thomson's Resort

4.5 star overall rating is too low. Capt. Thomson's Resort exceeded my wife and my expectations across the board. The great photos in many of the other reviews are spot on. Our visit began with very friendly and helpful staff at check-in. Our room appeared very clean and well maintained. Accommodations looked new with no wear. Perfect location right next to Uncle Sam Boat Tours and just a few minute walk from several restaurants and shopping. Highly recommend!

Stayed for one night. Folks were extremely friendly and helpful as soon as we got there. We were able to check in several hours earlier, which the hotel called us to let us know. Beautiful location on the river, room with water views, and convenient to shops and restaurant. Will definitely stay again.

WOW! What a special place. We went to Alex Bay for a wedding and weren't sure where to stay. I spent hours online deciding which hotel would be in the best location, with a reasonable price, and a view. Capt. Thomson's Resort is INCREDIBLE. Doesn't seem like much from the outside and then BOOM your room overlooks the Lawrence River with a private balcony and views of Castles! It is so romantic and comfortable and spacious. Absolutely PERFECT! The location is literally at the dock of the bay. If you come to this area you must stay here!

We just arrived today and I'll never be able to describe what a wonderful and perfect place this is. Upon check in, we were warmly greeted and immediately felt at home. Thank you for that. We found parking was ample and parked in front of our room. When walking in our room we were totally wowed with the beauty and decor of the room. Everything is ultra clean and smells so good. Then there's the view from our deck. My husband has never been to Alexandria Bay and when he saw the view out our window and from our deck, he was speechless. The deck and view of Boldt Castle, the boats and cargo ships was just amazing. Thank you Captain Thomson's for our amazing experience and I'm looking forward to the next days ahead staying at your resort. Top Notch 10 stars. We highly recommend. Blessings.

Loved this place.. very close to St. Lawrence River with beautiful view of river and Fort. Very neat and clean rooms.. Staff is also very nice and welcoming. Thanks for the hospitality. I will definitely visit again.

Comfortable rooms, reasonably priced. Many shops and restaurants in walking distance. Rooms were painted within the past year, and the color scheme is very pleasant. We had a bay view, but the river view would be preferable.

Magnificent place that all can enjoy! Accommodations were great! The room size was great for two on a honeymoon or a weekend getaway. But with advance notice, this place is willing to make things happen to the best of their ability! Awesome staff and great people all around.

Great place front desk person got us rooms on a Saturday night. All rooms have beautiful balconies for sunset or sunrise. Rooms are big and CLEAN.

I was so grateful to get this room. I was previously booked at Riveredge Resort and the rooms were dated and had a musty smell. I called Captain Thomas Resort and a gentleman by the name of Eric assisted me. We booked with them and canceled the other one out. As soon as I walked into Captain Thomas room it smelled so good! The place was spotless and was $100 cheaper! Listen up my friends if you want clean, friendly, and excellent rates look no further. Oh did I mention complimentary Paul De Lima coffee? Thank you!

I will definitely stay here again. Beautiful rooms. We were in the lower Harbour which has no view of Boldt castle but it was still amazing, including the view. Highly recommend.

We were a last moment check in and we were apprehensive. But happy to say. All was Outstanding!! From the warm welcome we received. To the view of Boldt Castle! Room was spotless. Would recommend to all.

Best hotel in Alex Bay. Can't beat the location next to Uncle Sam's Boat Tours and if you have a "main channel" or "upper harbor" room you have a great view of Boldt Castle. Everything was clean and comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!

This is a great hotel in Alexandria Bay. The pictures on their website do not do it justice. The rooms are large and updated. The views from the balconies are amazing. And the staff is absolutely amazing.

Best decision! The staff is very friendly, accommodating, efficient, and professional ! The room smelled great and bed linens were soft and extremely comfortable. I hit the bed and slept all night uninterrupted and woke feeling refreshed! The price is great and reasonable for the quality! They also have an outdoor pool for you to enjoy 😉 Uncle Sam BoatTour is right next door so you must do that or visit the castles. The riverwalk is very near to the hotel so you can walk that right in the morning or at night! The resort is right on the water and so you can’t go wrong to catch a beautiful sunset. For breakfast go right across the street to Rileys! They open at 7! Or you can drive 4 minutes up the street (or walk about 15 minutes) to The North Star! They also open at 7:00 ☺😋

We stayed here for a long weekend anniversary trip & we were so happy with our stay! We were in the king jacuzzi room w/ a balcony & view of Boldt castle & the view is amazing. The room was clean, the hotel was quiet, staff was super friendly & we highly enjoyed our stay!! As far as places near by we did stay towards the end of October & a lot of the restaurants & shops near the hotel were closed for the season but some we still open. We took a 20 min drive to Clayton, walked that area, & found a really nice restaurant for our anniversary dinner right on the water. 10/10 recommend this place when visiting the 1000 island region. You won’t be disappointed!

A great place to stay. Front desk very nice. Lots of parking and very clean room. We had a beautiful view. We stayed in a two room with a small kitchen. It was nice that we could leave our vehicle and walk to the Uncle Sam boat tour and walk around town.

My wife and I have been visiting this resort for the last nineteen years, since before we were married, and we now bring our children. If you are looking for the premier 1000 Islands experience, your stay needs to include this resort. The rooms are freshly remodeled with a fun nautical theme, the heated pool is fantastic, and the staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Lisa, the Director of Operations, is one of the best we’ve encountered. Her customer service and ability to find the right solution for any issue are unbeatable. If you are looking an unbeatable view of the river and Boldt Castle, I highly recommend the Main Channel rooms. Just book in advance because they sell out quickly.

This was our first visit to Alexandria Bay, and one of our favorite highlights was our room! We booked a king jacuzzi room on the upper channel. We had a balcony right up to the water with an incredible view of the river and Boldt Castle. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the room was spotless. The resort staff were so friendly and helpful! Our favorite part was definitely the location. Our room was within walking distance to literally everything we wanted to do! Right next to the pier for uncle Sam’s boat tours, steps from Riley’s on the river where we frequented for most of our meals, and lots of shopping and downtown night life. We are already planning our next trip back and fully plan to stay at Captain Thomson’s again!

We just got married at Boldt Castle and my wife and I, as well as, many of our guests stayed here. The rooms were spotless!!! I am very particular about my room! I couldn't find a piece of lint or anything out of place! The staff was great and were very receptive to all of our needs! The pool was clean and on top of it all, our view of the castle was perfect! We will definitely be staying there again!
