My boyfriend and I visited the Rusted Roof Barn for my 18th birthday and it was absolutely amazing! The horses are so full of personality and are wonderfully behaved. The owners Heather and Scott were an absolute joy to be around. If you're interested in a scenic trail ride that will make lasting memories choose this place!

My daughter and I, who had never been horseback riding, decided to go, and it was beyond amazing. At first we were terrified at the thought of being on a horse because we are not outdoors or nature kind of people but the owners were so warm and friendly and the horses were so sweet with there individual personalities that it felt natural. I rode Scout, and my daughter rode Pippi. The view on the trail was also amazing. This was the highlight of our whole trip. I can't thank the owners enough for such an amazing experience!!!

The whole family enjoyed the ride. The kids had so much fun. My wife and I were able to relax as the guides took care of everything.

Planning a fun day at Oak mountain state park starts with a horseback ride at Rusted Roof barn. The owners are great and make my husband and I feel welcome. The horses are amazing and calm. The ride itself is wonderful and being out in the woods on a horse is very calming. This group of riders were very diverse so that made it for me who just moved to the US even more fun. My very heavy Caribbean accent was no problem for the owners and that was a great plus! My husband and I def. going back soon because I am a horse lover. I think about taking lessons at Rusted Roof, so good was my experience!

We went yesterday to celebrate a couple things and it was a beautiful experience. Heather and Scott were super nice, they know each horse, their quirks and traits and help you understand them before you ride. The trail is gorgeous and if you're lucky and have such good weather, you're out for a lovely day!

We had a wonderful experience riding these calm horses. I went with my son’s middle school class. The owners were knowledgeable, friendly, and excellent instructors. Social distancing and mask wearing were upheld. Our ride through Christmas Tree Trail let us a a part of the park we haven’t seen before. Even the most horse shy in our group enjoyed the ride. The Rusted Roof Barn is such a great feature in Oak Mountain State Park and the Birmingham area.

Great experience at Rusted Roof Barn at Oak Mountain State Park! The owners, Heather and Scott really made me feel welcomed. They both are very friendly and have genuine smiles. You can tell they take pride in caring for the animals and their guests. The horses are well taken care of and seem to be happy. It was great learning the personalities of each horse. They did a great job sharing information about the horses and what to expect on the trail ride. The session was very informative. I learned a lot in a short time. Heather is a great instructor and did a great job engaging the riders on the trail ride. The trail ride was wonderful, so peaceful and relaxing. The horses are calm and well trained. I look forward to riding at Rusted Roof Barn again!

I might be a bit biased since I used to do volunteer work here, but I truly love this place! It’s in such a nice quiet location and the horses are always well behaved. Couldn’t recommend this place any harder!

Great family friendly experience inside Oak Mountain State Park, we really enjoyed it. The owners are very nice, truly genuine people and they were great with my kids. Heather took time to explain the basics of riding and what to expect on our trail ride. She made it a relaxing and pleasant experience. This was the highlight of our trip. Highly recommend!

Had a lovely morning ride through the park with my boyfriend on our visit to the Birmingham area. I appreciate that they let us ride even though we were the only two that day. Scott was a great guide for us and was fun to chat with during our ride. The horses are well taken care of and happy. Will definitely come ride here again next time we are in the area! Fall would be beautiful in the park.

I want to say "Thank you" to Heather and her husband at the Rusted Roof Barn. My husband & I took our 10 yr old daughter trail riding for her Birthday and it was the BEST experience EVER. Heather is so knowledgeable with the horses and an amazing riding instructor. We had so much fun!! We are already planning future rides!! Heather and her husband were so funny and even sang Happy Birthday to our daughter while on the trail rides, our daughter had the best time!! Thank u again for an amazing day!!

I hate that I'm not on social media to get this more exposure, but everyone at Rusted Roof Barn is INCREDIBLE. The facilities are clean, the horses are sweet and beautiful, and the people there are wonderful! The trails are so relaxing and beautiful. We had such a wonderful experience for my daughter's birthday. They did a great job introducing us to the horses are their silly personalities that made you fall in love with them!

If you're wanting to go on a relaxing ride in nature, this is the place to go! Having Rusted Roof Barn and their trails makes them stand out above all other State Parks.

I started taking lessons here about three years ago. Since the start, I’ve been welcomed, taught, and challenged. The trails are wonderful, beautiful and peaceful. Heather and Scott are quite possibly the best barn owners out there. They go above and beyond to care for all their horses, students, trail riders, and boarders.
Amy is an excellent instructor- she’s adaptable and kind, and knows the right way to challenge every student to be better.
I recently got a horse and have been boarding her here. Shes my first horse, and everyone has been so helpful in helping me adapt to horse ownership.
I could go on about the many experiences I’ve had here- all quite good- but I think I’ll leave it at this: Rusted Roof isn’t just a barn- it’s a home, and a family (a dang good one at that!)

What a great place to go on a trail ride. My wife and I visited Saturday Feb 20th and had a blast. The people that work here are very friendly and knowledgeable about the horses and obviously care a great deal about the horses as well as the customers. I recommend this to everyone that likes riding. gentle well trained and well taken care of horses. We will be back and thank you for a great day that was well worth the money.

Thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Heather and Scott are wonderful people but more importantly, they love the horses. It's not just a business to them. It's a way to share the love and passion for horses. It was touching to see so many rescue horses thriving.

Wow!! My husband and I are so happy that we discovered this horse back riding at oak mountain. We went last month, and we just did it agian. Such a nice ride into nature. We have no riding experience, so this was a perfect interdiction .. our guide told us exactly how to interact with our horse so we had a safe and enjoyable ride. I think everyone should try this. I know we will go back.
