Sundre Sand and Gravel is a fantastic place to work for. Truck Boss Dave is a stand up guy and knows how to teach you the ropes if you don't already know them. On the truck side they have nice, well maintained KWs with ISX Cummins backed by 18 speed Eatons. The Head Master Diesel Tech/ Shop Forman is a guy named Dan. Dan worked for Cummins for 15 plus years and really knows his stuff. I very much enjoyed our conversations about regeneration systems and the sad fact that we are not going back to the "dinosaurs" 3406 CAT's, N14s, Detroit Series 60s etc. Out in the field, they have nice maintained heavy equipment that has auto greasers! Dozers are D9s and loaders are WA500's. Ran across two different plant operators. The first was Dylan. Nice hard working fella. He can problem solve and is a pretty good welder. The Second was a man by the name of Mike Aka Stretch.... When you see him you will know 6 ft 7 and slim! He's pound for pound one of the hardest workers I've ever seen. I did my best to keep up but feel I fell a little short. A very patient teacher and kind hearted man. The biggest lesson he tought me was quite simple. Keep your head down, always ask whats next and never let your emotions to what one says to you affect your future...... I'll never forget that. An Operator by the name of Chad is absolutely hilarious. He can make you laugh even when you are having a rough day. He's a smooth Operator too. All the guys I seen there are an extremely talented bunch. Then there's Paul. Paul is what's referred to as a driver/pusher in the oil fields and Ranching Business. A no nonsense/ Fire and Brimstone type of man. The good ones know when they are pushing to hard. The bad ones never learn and run off a lot of young talent. Not my place to say which he is. He knows though. It's not weeding out the weak anymore so to speak, the weak won't even show up....... Last but not least by any means is Shane and Sheldon. They are hands down the most stand up guys that I've ever shoveled out a bin box with. It's hard to believe that the owners of a company that large will still go toe to toe with anyone. In there 50's at that! They will 1000% get knee deep in mud with you. They are both extremely hard working and clever. By schooling, one is an Engneer and the other is an Aircraft Mechanic...... I think their father was extremely proud of the men he raised. Together there's absolutely nothing those men can't accomplish. They make some pretty good rock and sand too!
