Second set of irons I've purchased here, very happy I went back. Mark is patient, knowledgeable and friendly; fitting process was fantastic and I feel confident the right irons are in my bag. Only place I'll buy clubs from, can't beat the service. Mary is great too, love this shop, highly recommend.

Mark is awesome. I had a return which resulted in store credit. We worked together to identify a great putter, as well as some changes to my clubs -- different shafts and new grips. Mark was easy to work with, very engaging, and has a lot of selection at his store. I really liked visiting there and talking with him, and wish I didn't live so far away. I strongly recommend Essex Golf & Sportswear!

Dropped an iron off on Monday to get reshafted. Asked if they could have it ready by Tuesday because I was headed out of town early Wednesday. No problem at all. Aren't many golf shops these days that can provide that level of expediency.

Not to mention Mark provided the same exact shaft and grip even though they weren't on display. Must've had some stock in the back.

Great service all around. Not sure what these other comments are about. If you want help, ask. Not that hard of a concept. Certainly no reason to give a local shop a 1 star rating.

Mark is a super nice guy. If your serious about golf and want to get fitted go to this place. The only place to go in South Eastern CT. All others are a joke.

On a side note Mark has a lot of patience and put up with me as I was getting fitted. He let me try every option. He also hooks it up with deals. If you spend a certain amount he will give store credit.

Some other reviews complain about price but they are fair. Support your local business.

Mark and Mary were very nice and knowledgeable! Mark is excellent at helping people get what they need in the world of golf from beginners to the more advanced. Mary was a pleasure to talk to as she helped cash me out. Highly recommend for golf clubs, club fitting or golf clothing.

Great family business , super nice people and prices are where they should be. I have spoken to mark and his wife four times about what irons I should upgrade to and each time they couldn’t be nicer and are very helpful in the process . As a local business owner I know the importance of customer service and how people should be treated and so do they.
( pulling the trigger on epics in the next couple weeks!)

Staff are friendly, prices are fair. Custom fitting and club testing are available. The owner helped me out greatly buying a set of used kids clubs for my 5 year old son saving me a ton of money over buying new.

I'd much rather be a patron of a small locally owned business where I can get great individual service than save a few dollars at a nationwide chain where they simply want your money.

I have been using this golf shop for a couple years and always have a great experience. Mark and his wife couldn’t be more pleasant and helpful. Mark gives me honest opinions when asked and never try’s to sell you something that’s not right for your game. Nice selection of clothing too.
