Excellent Decaf Americano. Definitely the best I've had while visiting San Diego.

Chill atmosphere, and personable service.

Note: I noticed on the way out that there was a pathway from the main drag. Just look for the metal gate - this makes the shop much easier to access, if you're not coming up from the beach :)

We had coffee from a few places in Carlsbad and this was by far the best!! Definitely go here if you’re reading this review!! :) I got a vanilla and hazelnut iced latte, it was amazing! The syrups are homemade and delicious!

Great vibes and amazing coffee. This little hidden gem is the best place in Carlsbad if you’re a coffee lover. The outdoor seating area is full of beautiful fragrant flowers and succulents which makes for a nice relaxing spot to sit and sip your coffee. Go check this place out!

Ray and co. have created lil spot that is unique to its environment. In the hustle and bustle of SoCal to find an actual hole in the wall is rare. The coffee is really good. The technique is consistent and proper. It fits the space perfectly. He obviously wants to be out surfing, but that doesn’t come across as resent. That energy is funneled into as cool, calm, collected and balanced of a cup as you’ll have out there. Thanks for giving me the desire to be a regular and for being such a good representative of the industry.

Good coffee. Cool retro Knick knack patty whacks inside. Not Starbucks plus 100! Open 8-2. Go while they’re open and check the 60 something station wagon out front.

Ordered a iced vanilla latte and it was solid. Coffee had a nice bold taste to it and it was the perfect sweetness. Also digging the vintage camera decor. And they’re for sale!

AMAZING coffee. Expertly well made espresso drinks and they even have fun homemade syrups to choose from like cinnamon and ginger fig. The selection of old cameras and Knick knacks make this a unique coffee shop that you should not miss.

Cute little coffee shop hidden behind everything, awesome vibe with some cozy outdoor seating. Had a beautiful, delicious latte in a cute ceramic mug. Also got a to-go drip coffee which was a well brewed lighter roast. Would return.

If you are a local and want to get away from the tourists and have a great cup of Joe, this little gem is your spot.

The beans are not over-roasted like the Corporate Mermaid brand, and has a great flavor, is smooth and robust.

This spot is tucked away behind the main buildings on the Cbad Village strip, and is a walk up, order, and go spot. The shop offers a small collection of vintage items for sale inclusing old surf photos, camera's, reggae vinyl, etc...

There is no seating inside the shop, buy it offers a super chill patio that definitely promotes the good vibes. There are lots of tiny succulent plants surrounding you while you sip on your latte.

The owner worked the counter, Ray. Super chill dude, has great taste in décor (really homely vibe), and makes a damn fine cup of coffee. They roast their own beans, and it’s some of the best I’ve ever had. Next time I go I’ll definitely grab a bag of coffee on my way out!

Low key lo-fi spot. Super quiet and relaxing patio to have a coffee on.

I've spent the last 4 years traveling all over the country for work and I make it a point to visit new, craft coffee roasteries in each location. I also live in the Pacific Northwest where coffee is religion. Quite simply, Interim is one of the best I've visited. I also brought whole beans home for the wife and she said they were better than anything we've purchased thus far. Keep up the good work Interim!

Thank goddess I finally found a coffee shop I like in Carlsbad west of I5! A great cup of coffee (Americano) with the correct number of espresso shots (4) without costing me several days coffee budget.
The other trendy coffee houses are ridiculous with their 2 shots only, even if they do offer larger sizes just charge more for water in a bigger cup! Sick. Can’t believe locals accept that.

However, at Interim it may be a no frills little coffee shop but he does coffee right!
Ray is a helpful, patient, friendly & excellent barista.

Sadly no heavy cream but that apparently is standard round town too.

So I give 5 stars and will be back tomorrow with my own heavy cream for an excellent, strong and reasonably priced Americano.
My 16oz iced Americano double quad 1/2 caf was $4.50. Best tasting coffee for fair price.
I recommend.

GREAT coffee! These guys are the real deal - they are passionate about their craft, and it really comes through in the taste and quality of the brew.

Come for the records, stay for the coffee. Great little, welcoming spot tucked behind “the big names on the boulevard”, with only a sandwich board out front on the sidewalk to guide you back. Nice little selection of vinyl, camera and coffee - all things analog. Thanks for supporting the cause! Will be a regular stop for my family and I whenever we’re in town, if not for the cameras and vinyl then just to say, “Hi”.
