A friend recommended this place & I’m so glad we tried it. It was so good we went back multiple times. I love how they cook the fruit inside the pancakes, instead of placing fruit only as toppings. It taste delicious. The staff is so kind, and I appreciate how everything indoor/outdoor was so clean.

Stopped by during my solo trip from NY due to good reviews. This place did not disappoint. It was a busy late Saturday afternoon but the service was quick and friendly and the food was tasty! Would def come back when in the area again which is hopefully soon because I love it here!

Best breakfast and lunch in the area, maybe even SoCal. I've been here a few times. Food is outstanding, never had a bad meal here. Food is always on point , fresh ingredients and good portions. I highly recommend this place.

Great cafe spot. Came here for breakfast with my family. It was recommended. We ordered the tri-tip eggs Benedict, French toast with a side of bacon, and two kids pancake plates. Wife gave the Benedict a 10/10. I wanted something different so I went with French toast. I really enjoyed it. Not overly sweet, but you can sweeten it up if needed. Bacon was crispy and made to perfection. Kids loved their pancakes. I recommend this place.

Wow! The food was phenomenal! We ordered the country burrito, the rustic breakfast sandwhich and the huckleberry cheesecake french toast (seasonal item) and everything was so delicious. The coffee was good too! I haven't had great breakfast like this in a long time. We will definitely be returning and recommending to anyone looking for a tasty breakfast spot!

Absolutely delicious. Both sweet and savory items on the menu are equally strong and flavorful. Everyone will find something they like here. The avocado toast is delicious.

Come here weekly for their latte and breakfast. Good coffee..great service. Like the variety of breakfast dishes they have. We've seen this place transformed from an old antique store to a bustling neighborhood cafe.

We were looking up great breakfast places in Carlsbad and this little corner restaurant came up. Topes has a walk up order counter but don’t let that discourage you from trying it! Food is really good and fresh and the coffee drinks are beautiful and tasty. It gets pretty busy on weekends and there is limited indoor seating as well as outdoor. They do being the food to the table and they have beer for those wanting a little cheer with their breakfast!

Love this place for breakfast/ brunch! Their chilaquiles are one of my favorites along with the blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes. If you are a hungry meat lover then get anything with the Cardiff crack. Amazing specialty drinks like rose white mocha are a real treat. You stand in line to order, get your number and grab a seat inside or outside Street parking available.

I'm currently on vacation from Wichita, Kansas. This place was recommended by my sister in law who lives here in Carlsbad.

Awesome Place!

Delicious food and vibe. You order first before sitting but don't worry, everyone finds a seat. Country steak is good, thin and flavorful with crunchy hash browns. If you want something heavier, get the crack and eggs or steak and eggs, super good and rich, will leave you in food coma. The burrito is a good choice if you want something you can cleanly eat just half of and take the rest home.

Coffee is solid, Mexican latte was good but not too sweet.

The cinnamon is freshly baked and not sweet at all, we got the non dirty version (which is just extra icing).

The food here is awesome. Not commercial, all home cooked type delicious breakfasts. Chai latte is very likely the best one I've ever had! We had an awesome first time experience and will def be going back. Pups 🐶 allowed at the outside seating too!

There are no shortage of beautiful coffee shops and brunch places here in Carlsbad. Cafe Topes has gone above and beyond to create a modern yet homey atmosphere with excellent food and originally flavorful drinks. I had their breakfast burrito with chorizo and before even taking my first bite it’s apparent that this was made with diligence and prepared perfectly. It’s clear they have perfected their recipes and love to make their food. Make sure you say hi to Josh for a welcoming conversation and to learn a little bit more about the area. I highly recommend you spend your late morning at Cafe Topes.

Cute little cafe. The staff were so friendly. No kids menu but it was still pretty kid friendly. Food was great!

This place is definitely a must go to breakfast spot. The food was absolutely amazing and service was great. Just be aware you order as you walk in so be prepared. Enough food in one order for two. Maybe even 3.

Cafe Topes is a 5 star gem!! Came in for breakfast and it was packed. You order at a central counter, get a number, and find your own seat. There are 2 patios and indoor seating, so even being extremely busy, it did not take long to find a seat.

We ordered a lavender mocha and turmeric latte, and both were exceptional (albeit pricey, at nearly $5 each). These trendy drinks often miss the mark, but these were perfect and you could taste each individual element.

For breakfast entrees, we ordered the country burrito (an off-menu special) and the 222 (create your own) with Maui pancakes, eggs, and sausage. Hot damn, everything exceeded expectations! For one, portions are huge! Also, everything is just so solidly good with a twist of innovation. The burrito was smothered with sausage & gravy, while the Maui pancakes feature shredded coconut, macadami nuts, bananas, and a cream cheese drizzle. I'm drooling recapping the meal!

Oh, this is also a dog friendly place, so bring the pups. We absolutely LOVED this little spot, and in fact, we are planning to go again before heading home!

Had the eggs Benedict and it was phenomenal. Also had the Iced Thai coffee and was absolutely delighted with the entire meal.

What a great place for brunch. This is the second time we’ve tried this place and both times we waited for a little bit in a fairly fast moving line to place our order at the counter. Once we placed our order we found an open table. They have a decent amount of both indoor and outdoor seating. It wasn’t long before our food was delivered to our table piping hot. The food is outstanding. The eggs, toast, hash browns and the star on the plate, the country fried steak were all so, so good! We highly recommend this quaint little spot.
