Syi Express Cafe

SYI Express Cafe serves a rotating menu of basics from a steamtable in a sort of "food hall" along with three other vendors. The food is good if occassionally too salty.

They serve lunch M-F and breakfast on Saturday while the Farmers Market is on. As SYI relies on the nearby state office workers for their business they are NOT open on state holidays.

I very much enjoy the peach cobbler for dessert.

SYI is a good place to.get a quick and tasty lunch if you find yourself in downtown Baton Rouge.

The atmosphere is utilitarian as this space is part of a state parking garage.

The best Lasagna ever! A great location with fair prices, great serving sizes and fantastic friendly staff!

This place made me SICK off of their breakfast, and SICK off of their lunch. What a shame not taking food safety seriously. I saw these people prepping their lunch having fish on the counter around 7am in the morning. A little too early to prep fish don’t you think? Who knows how long that was sitting out.
