We arrived on Christmas and stayed for several nights.
The Inn was a great location with quiet and very comfortable rooms.
What really made the stay memorable was the warm welcome and service from the staff, with a special call out to Kaya and Lori who both just made us feel at home.
The breakfast was impressive, and still dreaming of those blueberry pancakes. The Chef, Travis, and his team deliver on exceptional food for both breakfast and dinner. You will definitely want to make dinner reservations.
We can't wait to go back!

We’ve stayed here twice now with the previous owners annd the new owners and had a lovely time both times. Incredible three-course breakfast with pastries, and beautifully crafted main dishes, included in the stay. Comfortable and clean rooms, jacuzzi tubs are wonderful. And it’s just up the street from the Main Street and shops.

The service and staff are always so friendly and accommodating.

But the highlight is always the food and the three course dinners and dining experience. Sensational menus and flavors.

Rooms were only OK, but the beds were SUPER comfortable. Nothing luxurious, which was my expectation. Food was very, very good and the service was very good as well. I would definitely come back for a meal and a drink again as the location on Main St. was ideal.

I can't recommend the Hartstone Inn enough! The location to downtown Camden is fabulous and easily walkable to all restaurants and shopping. All the staff are friendly, offering suggestions on restaurants or places to get a cocktail and enjoy the views. The inn, too, is adorable, providing a perfect mix of the historical house and modern conveniences. The ensuite bathroom of the Toscana room was small but perfectly sufficient for showering. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and they provide USB charging on the nightstand. Breakfast is included with the rate and is served 8-10 am. I was pleasantly surprised with how tasty it was! They had delicious yogurt, granola, fresh wild Maine blueberries and other fruit, tasty croissants and other pastries, along with a buffet of scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, and bacon. Coffee was also really good! I am already looking forward to returning here!

Wow, my wife and I were blown away by how wonderful this place is! The owners, management and all of the staff make you actually feel welcome. Honest-to-goodness graciousness, not spray-can, pasted on customer service ambience and compulsory smiles. The room was amazing, beautiful, comfortable, and the food, both dinner and breakfast... again, nothing short of spectacular, with way more-than-adequate portions, again, unusual in a restaurant of this caliber. We have not ever been to a better place in Maine, and we have lived all around the state for the last 35 years. Hope to see you all again! And the pricing is one of the most amazing values for any inn or restaurant, combined, to be found in the state!

We stayed in Toscana on the second floor. The room was clean, comfortable and quite lovely. The staff was extremely kind and attentive and the location is walkable to everything in town.
We enjoyed the daily breakfast menu and would also encourage anyone visiting Camden to make dinner reservations at the inn. The dining experience was wonderful. We had a group of 6 and everyone loved their meal.
Thank you for great Maine getaway!

What an absolute gem. Every staff member here is so warm and inviting, they make you feel welcomed and cared for. We had the most delicious meals and cocktails, and enjoyed sitting outside by the fire. Our room was unbelievably cozy and spacious. Cannot recommend highly enough. The homemade cookies are to die for. We can’t wait to come back and try the cooking classes!

I called to see if guests other than the ones who are staying at the Inn can come for dinner. I was excited when they said yes. I loved the 3 course meal and $49 is very inexpensive for what you get. Delicious (more like so yummy I just want to taste more). The service is excellent and between the two servers, you're well cared for. I went on a Sunday rainy evening and was absolutely delighted. Thank you for being open. I had a terrific time.

For the courses,
Appetizer - Strawberry Rhubarb Gazpacho

Main Fare - Plantain Cod

Dessert - Strawberry Rhubarb Creme Brulee

We enjoyed our stay at the Hartstone Inn, so much in fact, that we will have a hard time staying at other bed and breakfasts! The staff was so friendly, the room was comfortable, and the food was AMAZING. I am gluten free, so I expected boring, bland food. Instead, I had the most delicious meals that were completely gluten-free. We loved our time in Camden, and especially our time at The Hartstone Inn.

The Hartstone Inn was more lovely than I could have ever expected! The location couldn’t be more perfect for a stay in Camden - it’s just a moment’s walk from the harbor and all of the dining and shopping spots - not to mention that Camden is a wonderful location if you’re hoping to stay in one place and travel all over Maine. The city is beautiful and charming. Our stay at Hartstone was perfect from beginning to end - it overflows with hospitality and is a destination in itself, with a full bar and kitchen offering cookies in the afternoon for guests, a cocktail hour in the afternoon with specialty cocktails and hours d’oeuvres enjoyed in their lovely sitting rooms or beautiful patio/garden spaces, and meals created by their award-winning chef and owner, Chef Michael Salmon! Rooms and washrooms are very well appointed and continue that friendly and welcoming vibe with thoughtful additions like glass bottles of water and chocolate waiting for you. The staff at Hartstone are exceptional people - we felt so welcome the moment that we walked in! We loved our stay at Hartstone and I can’t say enough about it - I’ll recommend it to anyone I hear is headed to Maine. Thank you for a more than lovely stay!

The elephant in the room - the Inn was sold about a month ago. While I'm sure some guests were unhappy about this, the Inn and restaurant haven't changed a bit and are both amazing. We stayed 2 nights (10/21&10/22/2021) in the Paris Room on the 2nd floor. The attention to detail was incredible. The included breakfasts were delicious. We dined in the restaurant on our second night and absolutely loved it. Chef Brian has been with the Inn for 5 years and is still creating masterpieces. Cookies and coffee at 3PM and happy hour at 5PM with 1/2 priced cocktails and a free appetizer were great touches. The staff was extremely attentive, friendly and helpful and the general manager, Megan, took care of our every need. We just loved this Inn and will be back again for sure.

The experience was great. The room was nice and cozy with a great fireplace and comfy bed. The breakfast that was included was amazing and the dinner was tasty, different and fun. Kudos to the hostess who had to deal with a loud obnoxious couple claiming the food was reheated and it obviously wasn't. She handled it with great class as they tried to complain to other tables. We will be back!

Wonderful experience, and the breakfast is phenomenal. I loved the room (called the Garden), and it was even warm and ready for us when we arrived late at night. It's walking distance to the town too. Loved it, I hope to go back someday!

The first time we stayed at the Hartstone we stayed in the French Thyme room in the Hideaway. It was perfect! My wife was Chef for a Day with Chef Michael and had a wonderful experience. We were hooked and came back year after year. We love the outstanding hospitality, beautifully decorated rooms, attention to detail, incredible food and service. We have been on four of the European Foodie Adventures and they were life changing. We cannot wait to go again. If you are looking for an incredible get away look no further.

We’ve been frequenting the Hartstone Inn for 15+ years and it’s the only place we stay in Camden.
Early on we tried other hotels or B&Bs but once we found the Hartstone Inn, we’ve never stayed elsewhere.
The rooms are both comfortable and luxurious. Breakfast is beyond expectations - but you must try dinner! A world class chef and menu. We’ve never been disappointed. And should you like a cooking class, Chef Michael is an excellent, fun, and patient teacher.
The entire staff are incredibly pleasant and eager to make your stay memorable. Always full of great suggestions for things to do in the area.

My friend and I had dinner here and it was the best food we have aver had. We decided to indulge with the 5 course meal they offer and we were impressed with every single course. The gnocchi was the best I have ever had as well as the Mellon sorbet, and the pecan tart. Phenomenal food and service. Five star rating!

We extended our stay, that should tell you all you need to know. But it doesn't, because you wouldn't know how truly amazing Chef Michael and his staff are at providing you with a culinary tour while staying at their Inn. The staff made sure we had everything we needed starting with our arrival and all the way through to the to-go coffee as we checked out. Abby has done a wonderful job managing the Inn and we can't wait to hear how all our friends enjoy their stays.

Quaint, classy, cozy, warm and welcoming, this guesthouse doubles up as a 5-star restaurant—honestly! The rooms are all different and full of personality. Ours was the romantic Carriage House with a fireplace and jacuzzi and extremely comfortable bed. Outside on the patio are fire pits so it’s lovely to sit there, relax and drink wine.
Breakfast is included and it’s a gourmet treat! The “starter” was a pear and poppyseed little cake with a strawberry sauce and the main course was a pan cake cooked in a skillet with real local syrup and a delightfully-flavored cream cheese topping. The restaurant is a collection of cozy Victorian-style rooms, full of character. Service is excellent and the owners are kind and really want to make guests happy.
I LOVE this place and could live here! Camden’s waterfall and its cute Main Street shopping are a couple of minutes walk from the guesthouse so it’s in a perfect location.

This post is about the restaurant, have not stayed at the inn. We had dinner and thought it was one of the best ever. Scallops, salmon, lobster all were cooked to perfection. I also liked that a lot of vegetables were incorporated, including some very smoother butternut squash puree. The star was the souffle dessert.

My husband and I have stayed at the Hartstone annually for four years now and love our experience every single time. The rooms are impeccable, the food is divine, and the staff is attentive and warm. Even on quick day trips through Camden we make sure to stop for happy hour in their bar -- and always day hello to Megan, our favorite staffer. Can't recommend this place enough!
