The Rutherford Café

Located on Williams St just east of Sandusky St, next to the BP. There is paid public parking on the other side of the BP. Good food, made to order. A half of a sandwich with a fountain drink came to $11 after the tip.

I met family here for the second time recently because of their varied menu that offers vegan options. They have a great menu of various sandwiches, breakfast and lunch type. They are reasonably priced and they have chips and fountain drinks with a few other drink selections. And good bread, makes all the difference on a good sandwich 😁 It's nice for a cafe type meal. There's seating inside but not tons so if it's busy it could be hard to find a seat. I'll probably be back in the near future :)

Service here was fast and friendly. The space is very clean and relaxing. The sandwich I ordered was hot and delicious. This is a quick and easy stop to grab a great bite to eat.

We’ve had this place twice and would definitely recommend! I got the Smokey Sandusky on the gluten free bun. My husband really liked the Raging Beast. The candied jalapeño relish was delicious. Both times we’ve went right around noon and we had a little bit of a wait, which is expected. They seem to get a lot of online orders. Everyone in there was helpful with my gluten allergy. They also had dairy free cheese for my husband! They have limited seating so we took our sandwiches over to the Delaware Township gazebo and ate outside. Overall, the food was great but be prepared for a bit of a wait and limited seating around lunch time!

I will miss this beautiful little spot more than most now that I'm no longer working in the area. The sandwiches and salads are wonderful and wonderfully priced. Everything I've ordered from here has been packed full and tasty. The owners are superb and work the line along with their staff. Super friendly and informative when asking about menu items. Everything is customizable, and yet your food comes quickly. I'll always try to stop back next time I'm in Delaware!

This place was super friendly, nice and clean. The guy (I’m assuming to be the manager or owner) went above and beyond and even let me take some of the relish I liked from the sand-which home! On top of all that, I ordered the raging beast sandwich and it was absolutely the best sandwich I have ever ate in my life. 100/10.

Came in with my two younger kiddos. My sandwich, Southern Peach, was very good! Not sure I have a favorite sandwich but the Southern Peach is right up there! My kids ordered a kids item and both enjoyed it too! Staff were nice and wait time was not a issue. Will definitely be back!

Small sandwich shop a block off of the main drag in Delaware. Sandwich were good but not out of this world. I got the turkey reuben. Nice amount of turkey but I have had better. I would go back but would not make a special trip for it.

Great place for sandwiches or breakfast. It is small so can get crowded at peak times. Staff is friendly. I highly recommend the chicken salad sandwich!

This is a cute cafe that fits in well to Delaware’s small town charm. They are perfect for vegan options- offering vegan cheese’s, vegan cream cheese’s, and clearly marked vegan options. I wish they had some nice vegan soups too, but the sandwich was filling and the bread was very lovely. Definitely worth stopping in if you are looking for a good lunch spot!

What a great spot! Had the Gouda Morning breakfast sandwich and added bacon. Everything was fresh and delicious! We were so impressed that we returned that day for lunch! Had the chicken salad and The Rutherford, both were delicious! Highly recommend this spot!

Rutherford is the sandwich shop every town needs. Its like cheers when we walk in, they know us, they know our family and they know our favorite orders. Their catering is fantastic, their breakfast and lunch is great too.

Excellent sandwich, love the different combinations and they even have veggie sandwiches. Always receive excellent customer service, my favorite place for a sandwich ☺

The food was excellent and reasonably priced. We came here by accident, and it turned out to be a very fortunate accident. Try The Rutherford Cafe out when you're in Downtown Delaware!

Probably one of the best sandwiches I have ever had. The food is excellent and the people are very friendly and helpful. I had the Sandusky sandwich and it was heaven in a pretzel bun.

My husband & I tried this spot while visiting and it was by far the best bacon egg and cheese bagel we have both ever had! Simple but so tasty!

Wow! I was enjoying a beer at barley hopsters and became envious of the sandwich sitting next to me and had to have one..
Being a local to Delaware I always try and support local and you will not be disappointed! Hands down the best deli sandwich I've had in my life. The raging beast was amazing!

The restaurant had dairy-free cheese, but I didn't want it anyway. Nevertheless, my sub sandwich was pretty good with vinaigrette dressing.
