The Bottom

I absolutely love The Bottom. After being away for almost a decade, I was so excited to move back and visit/reconnect with where I grew up. One thing I wanted to find as soon as I moved back was a local bookstore - The Bottom is definitely it in Knoxville. Black-owned and operated, this bookstore is absolutely where I’ll happily support and spend my money, knowing the funds go right back into local communities and programs. They have a fantastic selection, cozy vibes, friendly service and made it super easy to order some extra books in to pickup. Definitely recommend checking it out!

Very good selection of books. They also have teas and offer several classes/meetups. I attended a sewing class, and it was a lot of fun. Be sure to walk the back parking lot for some history of the area.

The book store is Beautiful! There are so many great authors and subjects to choose from. The set up of this store is tranquil and welcoming. For our first visit our kids got to join a program that gifts them a free book every month! How exciting for us all! We can't wait to visit again and again! We're new to the area but we've found a home! Special thanks to the staff. You guys are simply amazing!

Not only a nice variety of books (I was excited to find a book that I’ve been looking for for a while, but could only find online and at high prices), but the atmosphere is so cozy. It’s literally a “home” feeling. Very relaxing vibe. Books at reasonably priced. Staff conversational and friendly. I wish this business and community project much success!

This community center/bookshop/tea room/podcast studio is the most Unique, inviting, educational, warm and welcoming venue that I have ever visited. I SO enjoyed the informative tour with Jazmin Witherspoon and the delicious cup of tea. Learning the history of Knoxville's downtown Black neighborhoods of the 1950's was interesting and enlightening.

Today was my first time visiting and I am in love with this bookstore! They have so many books by black authors on a vast array of topics. If I could, I would buy every single book!
