If you haven't tried the breakfast then you are definitely missing out. They say breakfast is the.most important meal of the day. Well this breakfast definitely gives a boost of energy. Don't be stingy with yourself, get the two meats and all the bells and whistles. Good folks and recognize those that support their efforts!

I've never had smothered pork chops and now my life is more complete. I could eat it with a spoon, so delicious.

The owner was very attentive and kind. The food we had was scrumptious! We ate the fried chicken plate and the fried pork chops plate. Their sides were yummy: candied yams and collard greens. The cornbread was fluffy and yummy! Definitely recommend you trying this place!

It was so so good....real soul food at a affordable price. Like no lie this was some of the best food I had in a while🤗

Absolutely loved everything I got from here. My only knock on the food would be the oxtails. I have eaten them from Caribbean restaurants for so long that I just rather get from the Caribbean places versus this place.

Cafe express is always delicious great customer service, friendly workers feels more like you walked into your family's house greeted with a smile and might see someone you haven't seen in forever.

Great soul food spot. While I think the quality of the main ingredients have gone down a little the food is still great! Best red beans in BR!

My boyfriend and I stopped here in April when we were in Baton Rouge because we wanted to try some authentic soul food. The food did not disappoint whatsoever! We are both from Canada and have never had American soul food and the food at Cafe Express lived up to all of my expectations. The place is no frills but the portions are heafty, the food is delicious and the staff are so sweet and kind ❤ One tip I have though is GO EARLY! By the time we got there (after 1:00 pm) they were sold out of a lot of there stuff that we would have loved to try-next time we are in Louisiana we will be sure to come by for an early lunch!

Absolutely wonderful! Great food! Great customer service. It is amazing to see a staple in the community still serving the people of Baton Rouge after all these years. It's an establishment that has been passed down generations. The owner is a great guy. He serves food as well as laughs and talks with his customers. Amazing place, will definitely return soon. I highly recommend 👌

The Cafe is excellent. I received a thin-cut, freshly prepared, properly seasoned pork chop along with grits, scrambled eggs, toast, and a beverage. The customer service is also really fantastic. Recomended

When I visit Baton Rouge LA, I make it my business to stop by for that good old HOME cooking. Fried Fish with 2 side of Collard green river and gravy, and Turkey wing potatoes salad with sweet peas

Loved it. Loved it. And I'll say it again..... Loved it. This is a place that's had everything imaginable fried in the kitchen (with love). I had a tough time choosing from the many offerings do I ordered two plates. Hey, don't judge, I saved one for dinner! The catfish was fried perfectly, the smothered pork chop was tender, the greens were good, the corn bread was sweet, and the potato salad was just right. There's not a lot of seating inside and most people are not there to dine in, they're just waiting on their orders. With that said, you may want to order ahead. In any case you can't go wrong and I suggest ordering two plates anyway. 😉

Made directly in front of you fresh by a kitchen magician?! Café Express is the kind of food and atmosphere everyone wishes for in their heart. Calling ahead is good, esp if you’re on the clock: I drive rideshare and will recommend this spot to my clients and fellow drivers. That’s the best compliment I can give a spot!

I have been a faithful customer for about 15 years and I have never been disappointed... Their cakes are completely signature and i never miss Thursdays b/c that is smothered ribs and smothered neckbones day and u fall in love with every bite...The staff is truly family 💪.. so if u looking for some true down south home cooking, check them out!Keep up the good work you guys!!!! 🥰🥰
