Thistle Cafe

This place is an absolute gem! They have tasty breakfast items and their tacos are delicious! Their TexMex food is wonderful! I recently had their Mole Enchiladas and I’ll definitely be ordering them again! They’re always friendly and their service is phenomenal! The owner and the staff are the kindest people! There’s an indoor area with plenty of seating and they also have an outside eating area that’s perfect for when you want to enjoy the nice weather.

Awesome little breakfast option tucked down off the sidewalk next to the Chase building. Friendly team and nice menu options. $25 for breakfast for 2, great deal. Ordered steak burrito and 2 garden tacos, add egg. Two help yourself salads options available in a counter in the back. Green was super spicy but both were perfect for the food. Seating is cushioned high tops, easy to sit and eat comfortably. We will be back!

I never write reviews, but I work in the neighborhood, I've been going here for years, and I owe it to Herman and his team to write one. Hands down the best breakfast tacos in downtown Austin. Made to order. Fast and friendly. Great coffee. I go for lunch every once in a while and whatever you order it is fast, fresh, and flavorful, served with a smile. And if you go often enough, they know and call you by name. An Austin Treasure.

With most places around town charging obscene prices for a salad ($20 for a salad is outrageous), this is one of the few remaining traditional lunch places available downtown. The service is excellent, everyone is always welcoming and talkative, there's plenty of options (for vegetarians too), and everything is always clean and well maintained. If you're looking for a salad, wrap, or sandwich, you can't beat this place!

By far the cheapest big breakfast in downtown. $7 for a complete meal. That's crazy for Austin. On top of this, they have the friendliest staff and have extremely good customer service that gets you your meal in 5 minutes. I don't know how more people aren't going to this gem!

I have yet to have a bad experience eating at Thistle Cafe and have eaten here 10-15 times. The breakfast tacos (especially the barnyard and country) and sandwiches are bomb.

Today I tried their California club wrap and tomato basil bisque which was also great.

Aside from the food, the staff is extremely friendly and welcoming.

I ordered the omelet and was pleasantly surprised at how generous the serving was. It was worth the $9, for sure. It was fresh, tasty and honestly fed me for my whole work day. Ordering online was super easy and I love that I could use my CashApp to pay.

It was my first time here today, and I absolutely loved it. There was a very nice gentleman taking orders and delivering the food to the customers. He did a great job manning the place. Very polite and kind. The food was just what I needed on a chilly day- tomato basil soul and a grilled cheese & ham sandwich.

This will hands down be my favorite cafe to grab breakfast from in the morning! Delicious food with friendly and fast service and nice chill vibe.

Ordered a Carmel latte and a chorizo breakfast taco. Taco was so good I ordered another one! Green salsa is amazing!

Visiting Austin, stopped by this cafe while walking by, such a cool spot! Had a great experience. The guy working was awesome!

What a fun surprising place found sub-main level of an office building. I had the beef tacos with rice and beans, so tasty. My wife had the enchiladas and she loved them. This is a great spot to stop in for a breakfast or lunch if you find yourself downtown Austin.

Found this gem while on vacation. Nothing fancy nor pricey, but FANTASTIC food and service! The manager was so delighted to have us visiting his establishment, made us feel so welcomed. The waffles were out of the world and great tacos!

Casual and laid back. Food is wonderful for the price. Service is not doting or anything (order at counter) but the staff are very friendly.
Atmosphere is chill. Nice place to unwind for a bit, maybe get some laptop work done.

This place is amazing! Breakfast tacos were excellent. Even better than the food are the people who work there; from the man taking our order to the chef/owner (not sure) who walked around checking on us!
