Houndstooth Coffee

Quaint little cafe strategically located in the CBD of Austin. Finally a coffee shop in the US that does a chocolate drink right, though I would have wished it came in a much larger size and with less ice. It was so good and I had a second cup. It does not have a kitchen so only small sandwiches/burritos and some pastries are available. It sees a lot of customers but a good number are takeaways, leaving plenty of seating available. Overall a great place to get some work done.

Nice atmosphere and great tasting coffee. The vibes are on point here. It doesn't have the same soul that most coffee places in Austin have but it makes up for it in quality and branding. I had a great experience

Food: the strongest cortado! Order this if you want an extreme amount of energy to walk around downtown Austin

Service: very friendly! Told the barista I like it sweet and he suggested trying a local honey

Ambiance: very relaxing & clean. I suggest picking up a coffee here and begin exploring the city as a local or tourist :)

No latte art on the cortado I ordered, but that's irrelevant when the coffee is this good. I got a single origin choice, Burundi, and as someone who exclusively has made and drank single origin, African cortados daily for over a decade, this place is really, really good. I can smell the rich, sweet, citrusy (almost blackberry-like) notes even while the cup sits on the counter beneath me as I write this review. Beautiful initial taste and it lingers sweetly too. Perfect hot drink choice on a hot day, very refreshing.

Overall I would rate this cup at least a 94 or 95/100. Solid A, which is a high score from me. For improvments, the drink tasted ever-so-slightly sour after the tangy and aromatic first sip. Perhaps a little underextracted or just a feature of the roast and origin, but it's the only real mark down from perfection I'd have to say, if anything. I wish I had come here sooner on my trip, I'm only in Austin for 2 more days. I may visit again at least once before I leave.

Houndstooth Coffee is great and very conveniently located for me where I park at the Frost Bank building when I need to go to downtown. I just order a black drip coffee what ever available and every time tastes very smooth without a bitter taste. On busy days like during SXSW they serve coffee outside along with breakfast tacos from Taco Deli and pastries. This make it quicker to avoid standing in a long line.

The staff is very friendly and will talk to you about the coffee beans.

Always looking for something local (or local-ish) when I travel. Quiet and chill interior with great service and even better espresso. Price was reasonable and If I had the time I'd absolutely have spent my morning here.

The coffee is actually good and sophisticated. I got the espresso straight. Tasted like an authentic. Bitter notes in the after. Typical for a dark roast. Would come back for sure. Like that they provide a soda water with the espresso for cleansing of the palate.

Good cold brew. My wife got a vanilla latte. Admittedly, there was something a bit different about the vanilla that we didn’t love, but the latte was done very well and the atmosphere here is beautiful.

Above and beyond for customer service. Our barista was on point - professional and fast.

Nice place to sit and talk or work for an hour or so. It gas a freak vibe, and the coffee is good! Very well priced as well.
The Japanese Ice Coffee is a nice chill drink to try.

I had a fantastic experience at Houndstooth Coffee! The ambiance is cozy and inviting, perfect for catching up with friends or some quiet time. Their reserve coffee was exceptional, and the chocolate croissant was a delightful treat. Highly recommend.

My colleague and I from Melbourne were trying out multiple coffee shops in Austin, and, to our surprise, this coffee shop had a very decent flat white. We are quite a bit spoiled in Melbourne with our coffee scene. This place is definitely worth visiting for a nice cuppa!

Great coffee place. Good atmosphere and always great smell of fresh coffee. Pastries - there is a place for improvement, but you can always find a small chocolate bar.

I can't have caffeine and always struggle to find good decaf that I can order without judgement. Their decaf espresso is fantastic quality and I love the honey + lavender syrup in a latte. Great service that didn't scoff when I ordered decaf and very helpful in suggesting other places to visit in Austin.

My favorite coffee shop in Austin. When I’m in town for work, I always stop in. Don’t let the line scare you, it moves super quick and the staff are always super friendly. The coffee is top tier and if you’re hungry you can grab a pastry or breakfast taco. You gotta go.

This coffee establishment has the rare distinction of maintaining the same level of quality and service throughout the pandemic.

The coffee is excellent.
The staff is knowledgeable, professional and friendly.
The interior is clean and inviting.
The location is convenient.
The price is a little more (about a dollar or so) but well worth it.

Within walking distance from the LINE hotel, houndstooth coffee is incredible!

Great coffee spot downtown! Service was great and very friendly staff. I will say that the coffee is a little on the pricier end but it's great coffee none the less. Check it out!
