Janet's Montana Cafe

Janet's Montana Cafe was a delight to experience! On a rainy day at the beginning of this year, my friend and I brought our hunger and we enjoyed what we ordered. We ordered the Italian Sausage and the veggie omelets. They were both hefty and delicious. Then I also ordered the Boysenberry pie. It was fruity and tart in all the right ways. The decor was homey and comforting. The customer service was excellent! Pedro was our server, he was friendly and accurate. Also, the hostess at the entrance was great as well. These people make this restaurant a must. I will definitely be back. Eat up!!!

Hands down you must eat here!! Super cute little diner! Excellent service!! Oh my this food was top notch!! I rarely find a place that is a better cook than me, but this place had amazing cooks! I wish I had more room to eat even more delicious food! I can’t wait until I’m in the area again so I can eat here again!

Brought my family here for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 11:00 a.m. We only had to wait 15 minutes to be seated. This place is an absolute gem for breakfast and lunch. Every time we come here the food and service staff is always top-tier. My lady ordered spinach scramble 5 🌟 s my boys ordered the kid's French toast 5 🌟s and I always order the biscuits and gravy with bacon 5 🌟 . The food was delicious and the atmosphere was a country-style Cafe. If you want delicious Quality food, Great Service, and a quiet atmosphere this is the place for you. Best breakfast in San Diego!

We took out-of-town friends to Janet's because we knew they would have a memorable experience. Although it had been years since we last visited, we were not disappointed.
The decor is still unique (imported from Montana) and fun to see. (Not too many antler chandeliers around these here parts! )
We were pleasantly greeted and, luckily for us, there was no wait. We were seated immediately. Just as immediately a server appeared to take our drink orders. Magic!
We told our friends that they couldn't go wrong with ANYthing on the menu. And we were right. Each of us ordered something different, and everyone was pleased with their selection.
The food came fast and hot. Breakfast came with a choice of muffin. When I ordered the carrot, my server said, "Excellent choice," and it sure was!
I have more to say, but you should go, yourself, and have your own experience.
The only thing wrong with Janet's is that they are only open for breakfast and lunch.

I am in love with this Janet’s - they are all wonderful but this one! My friend and I go here every January for breakfast to start our trip to Quartzsite rock and mineral show. It just sets the tone-the building itself is such fun. You really feel like you have left San Diego and gone to the mountains. The food? Wish I could eat here more often than I do-we go several times during the year. Their breakfasts are phenomenal! The biscuits and muffins melt in your mouth. Truly fresh fruit. Eggs exactly as you wish. Service is superb. Treat yourself soon and go-you will be back again and again…

Janet’s was super in every single way, we ate here for lunch coming into town and we ate here for breakfast on our way out of town. The portions are HUGE and the atmosphere is rustic and peaceful and it just felt like summer. You can’t say that about many places nowadays.

What a great place for eat! We waited a tad but it was Sunday and Father’s Day to boot. They did a great job of getting people through quickly but we never felt rushed. The atmosphere outside is beautiful and inside was cozy. The service was very friendly and kind. The food was delicious and large portions. I would highly recommend!!

Awesome fast service, large portions and nice old time atmosphere. Huge sticky buns dripping with icing. Just the place to bring your subordinate storm trooper army to wind down after a long day of chasing rebels.

Portion sizes are big. Pancakes are hearty. Pie is phenomenal! Bison burgers are cooked to perfection.

Glad this place is becoming a birthday tradition. 🙌🏽

If you are going to be anywhere in the Alpine CA area you have GOT to go this place! The building is adorable and the staff is wonderful! The food is delicious and servings are huge. We will absolutely go there again 👍😁

Super cute rustic restaurant, great place to stop for breakfast on your way up to the mountains/Julian. Friendly, quick service. Delicious baked items. The home fries were really good, cooked just right with a little crispyness to them.

The place is gorgeous, nice and clean. The service was great, and the food delicious and they were big servings. The pancakes are huge, about 10 inch round.

We drove all the way to Alpine from Imperial Beach with the family on Sunday to try their breakfast due to the high ratings for their breakfast food. We discovered it to be true and were very pleased with the food, hospitality, cozy and beautiful restaurant in the middle of a small town with 15,000 people. The pork chops were grilled to perfection and the pancakes were so good. We didn’t care for the home potatoes since they were dried and not fully cooked but the overall experience was a good one. Will go back there again.

PROs: Great staff. Always great food & plenty of it! Beautiful place. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. Ready baked pies available to go.
CONs: Parking is very limited; it's not enough to accommodate the patrons visiting the restaurant. The main road is busy too if you must park out there.

I visit Janet's any chance I can get when I come through town. Unfortunately, the business hours ends at 2pm each day. So the place is only open for breakfast/brunch/lunch.

We had a great meal. The food was awesome and our waitress was the best. We will definitely be back.

Always tasty! Very large portions so it's easy to split. I've eaten here for breakfast, lunch and dinner... It's a lovely and peaceful venue. Eat inside where it's cozy or outside with your pets while the birds serenade you.
