Brown Skin Coffee Roaster

We stopped here when we were driving through on our way back to Minnesota and were so happy we decided on it! The service was great, food and drinks were delicious, and atmosphere was wonderful. The omelets and chicken and waffles were some of the best we’ve had in a while, and we also loved the matcha latte and peppermint white chocolate tea. The art on the walls is so beautiful, and love all the comfy seating they had.

First time being here. Was told about this place by my partner. I tried the Brown skin coffee. It was delicious and woke me up. The chocolate on the side was a cute touch. This place reminds me of something I’ll go to in Roger’s or Hyde Park. It’s nice to know that I don’t have to go to the city.

I really enjoyed my first visit to Brown Skin Coffee Roaster in Gary. It has so much space and such beautiful vibe along with well crafted beverages and food. It will be my go-to place for casual meetings and meet-ups with clients.

First time here and everything was delicious. Staff super friendly. There was a mistake and it was fixed without any problems. Nice clean and laid bck establishment. We will definitely be back. We went early part of the day and it got a decent crowd.

I LOVE that there is a wonderful space in Gary, Indiana for coffee, drinks and fellowship. This place is amazing and everyone should check it out. They rotate coffees and I have a nice mix of pastries and food options. They offer wine (but sadly, no beer that I know of) and I have had there food before and wish I could give it 4.5 stars as it's quite nice for lunch. It COULD be better - I say this because while everything can grow and improve, it's primarily that when I hold something to a higher standard I do expect 100%. Brown Skin Coffee is not PERFECT, but I am bougie coffee drinker and what prompted me to write this today is that I did not have a great cup of plain, black coffee. In fact, my coffee tasted sort of burnt. That said - I need no refund, and I will be returning. I leave ONLY POSITIVITY via this forum, as I plan on reaching out to the manager/owner to provide my feedback on how this place can be even better (and to inquire about how they store their coffee once brewed). The worker was lovely and again it's not on her, rather, this feedback is because I want this place to THRIVE. This is a place everyone needs to check out. As I was raised down the street and now live in a neighborhood that does NOT have a coffee shop or locale like Brown Skin Coffee, I will PRAISE and be PLEASED that something like this simply exists for all to visit. Take my money, because local businesses need it more, and this place deserves it.

I must admit that I am a funny acting person simply because I expect service if I am supporting an establishment.
I had my eye on this little spot for a while, and choose to start my Birthday off with a "BIRTHDAY Coffee" experience..... I wasn't ready! The energy is comfortable, clean, neat, artistic, relaxing.... SUPER CHILL.
As soon as I walked in the door, a Chess board caught my attention, someone greeted us instantly and invited us to use the board....we had not ordered a thing.

Brown Skin Coffee is a beautiful gem that we are lucky to have in the city of Gary. I was lucky to attend the grand opening, and "The Reggie Foster Experience" was the highlight as entertainment. The ambiance is beautiful, complete with outdoor dining. Big shout out to the owner, Ms. Shana Tate for bringing her vision back home❤

One of the only places not named McDonald’s to get coffee on a Sunday morning. Service was a tad bit slow but appreciate the young lady bringing my drink right out to me. Coffee was hot and, blended with Hazelnut, needed no additional sweetener and tasted delicious. Nice to visit the hometown and enjoy an asset to the city.

Friendly service with beautiful ambiance. The coffee hits the spot and the food is worth making a detour for! I had the chicken quesadilla and it was deliciously flavorful with restaurant quality plating and sides. Highly recommend making time to come by!

I finally had the pleasure of trying this place after having passed by a few times while out working. I ordered an iced vanilla coffee with oak milk. Then I switched to Carmel and the barista was like- you should do both!!! I said OK😁 I have to say this was one of the BEST iced coffees I’ve ever had! It was iced shaken and came out perfectly frothy, cold, and creamy! I’m not one to do reviews- but it was so delicious I had to give it a great review! The only downside is that it’s a little pricey - but I will definitely be back!

The staff was friendly, professional and very accommodating. Met the owner, she's really down to Earth. Brown Skin Coffee Roaster is now one of my new venues. The iced coffee and vanilla loaf cake was delicious. The next day for lunch l had a chicken wrap and Matcha iced tea.

What a spot! The coffee? Amazing! The service? Incredible! The food? Slaps! So glad we found this spot on our drive through town. Our iced coffees came beautifully styled and tasted amazing. I highly recommend the quesadilla, and don’t forget to grab one of their fresh pastries to go! Shana and her team have gone above and beyond to make you feel welcome at her shop.

A gem, if you know one !Weekly scheduled performance’s from Art to culture, live bands and live Dj. WINE Down Wednesday after work social event come enjoy wine tasting and signature latte and teas. This space also has great food. Stay tuned for more of events In the summer for outdoor series.

OMG, the best atmosphere I've been in in awhile! The and beverages are always in point and the owner is the sweetest little thing! I recommend for sure.

Very nice establishment! Finally a great place in Gary to get coffee and more and have a nice relaxing visit. Conversations, chess, read a book and more.

Shana is AMAZING....Breakfast is amazing and the coffee is PERFECT! The Tea is the Best. She opened up an HR early for my wife's Sunday School class for her Birthday! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This fairly new nice Coffee Shop is the region's best kept secret, but not anymore people, this establishment is a must see; with it "Grown Up Vibes".. The waitress Kim is now one of my Favorite People, and I want her doing my small upcoming event; this November 4th 2023. The owner is very Approachable & Funny, like family; and how the Coffee Shop is decorated fits the Shop's & Owner Brand. Northwest Indiana you are only cheating yourself, if you don't go and checkout this shop; at least one time this month. I will guarantee you this much, you won't be disappointed; and I highly recommend this business for your next "Coffee Experience".. Thanks Mama Vee for showing me this new spot to "Chill" at, in Gary Indiana..

The band was great! There was a nice crowd! It was a beautiful day and I sat in the outside seating. You could hear the band fine. I'll definitely return!

It was suck a great experience. It was so peaceful inside and so beautiful. My muffin so soft and fresh. The coffee was so great. Anthony was such an intelligent young man and so nice and patient.
