Tate's Place

Nice place. Seems to be rather popular. Pretty happy with the service and speed overall. Generous portion sizes. I'm sitting at the counter watching the kitchen, and staff. They are operating great, even as the kitchen is flooded with orders. My order was pretty complicated and it came out perfect, and I haven't seen any mistakes come out at all. The wait staff members are all genuinely happy, nice and friendly. I've been taken care of wonderfully.

Great service. wonderful waitress. Delicious, fresh, breakfast for our party of five ladies. Quick service. Food prepared and served quickly. Hot coffee. Half & half and Vanilla creamer available. Plenty of parking. We thought there would be a long wait ... go inside. Plenty of tables. We ere seated once we arrived. Love this place and we'll be back soon. Staff wonderful friendly atmosphere small wait got seated quicker than promised time. My server Catie was excellent well attentive and knowledgeable very pro active with her tables. Food great quality hot .

Tate’s serves amazing specialty meals and quality breakfast and lunch selections on a daily basis. A friendly and knowledgeable wait staff and an efficient kitchen ensure that your meals are delicious and at your table in mere minutes. I would highly recommend.

A great place to stop for breakfast when coming home from Chicago! The menu is full of great options! Love the walnut raisin bread toast! The service is also outstanding! Never have to ask for a coffee refill!

We have eaten here multiple times. Cozy atmosphere, great food, always excellent service. I've used them for catering a few things. I've never been disappointed with food or service. Fresh fruit platter, great place for breakfast, brunch or lunch. I miss their Wednesday buffet night. Owner is amazing as well. Don't miss out on this local gem. Not too far off I-94 and 80, tollroad. If you're in local hotels by highways, you're a skip away. Check it out.

Fantastic. Very crowded. Booths would have been cool and felt more private. Men at table next to us were so close that they struck up a conversation. Food and service were amazing. There's an omelet filled with biscuits and gravy. I didn't know what to think but had to order it. It was the best thing ever.

The best spot for breakfast and lunch, hands down. The chicken fried steak is excellent. For lunch they'll sometimes have pot roast as a special, best pot roast I've ever had. They also bake their own homemade pies!

Always a great experience coming here. The breakfast food is excellent, service is good and friendly. Great locally owned family restaurant. Must try.

I heard the food was good, but I was not expecting it to be amazing!!! I got take out, so I have to say I was very impressed all silverware included..everything I ordered/special ordered was made perfectly..I live 10 minutes away..so food was piping hot when I arrived home!!
And the customer service was outstanding!! Friendly and extremely courteous..top 5 favorite!!!

Small place with great food. I love going to Tates for Sunday morning breakfast or lunch. Their tomato basil soup is my favorite :)

My mom and I got the pot roast special and the tortellini with italian sausage soup on Thursday and both of them were AWESOME- especially the soup!! Do you know when that soup will be on the menu again!?!?!

You will always get top quality hot, fresh and delicious food here. The best waffle fries ever. The service is fast too. The outside patio is also very nice when weather permits.

My Friend and I left the gym and we usually have Breakfast. We thought we would try a new place. I'm glad we did. The food and service were great.

My husband and I came to Portage to be close to the lake and to just spend time away for our anniversary. We looked up breakfast locations and this was the first one we saw. We loved it. The staff was so friendly and the food was amazing. We didn't have time to go again on Sunday before we left but we thought about it. We would definitely go again if we are ever in the area.

It was a great time and we were on the deck . Food was great and our server was Brandy. She's fun,fast and easy to interact with. We will go again.

If you want great service, great food, all at a cost which will make you and your wallet smile, Tate's is the place to go to. My friend and I love this restaurant...just wait until you see the large portions!

Surely a must try if you are driving on i90 Indiana. The taste was and quantity was very good, my personal favorite was the tomato basil soup and my dad absolutely enjoyed the chicken parmesan sandwich. The staff were very friendly, polite and had a good sense of humor finally the place was crowded but very clean ( including washrooms).

Nice local favorite place. In addition to a large breakfast and lunch menu there is a board with dsily/seasonal specials. Very friendly , attentive staff.
