I've been in post offices from Illinois to California. The woman who works here (Robin) is always kind, patient, friendly...It's shocking because USPS doesn't staff this place well. It's normally just her running the counter solo. That's gotta get old. But needless to say, Robin is always pleasant.

I Larry Brannan, have used this post office almost daily (excepting Sundays of course) for over 25 years. I say it is the best one in Highlands and in Macon county. The policies and services are not established or controlled by the Postmaster! It starts with the US congress controlling costs, hours and services. Then at the district level, all details are managed by persons in Asheville or Greenville. Also, the system now requires the customers to do more so much more online. The Postmaster has to deal with at least two unions and has no say in who is sent to work in the post office building and on the delivery routes. Yet, it is the Postmaster who catches all the flak and rude/impatient persons who have something go amiss or simply do not understand how little control the people in the post office building have over your missing/late mail or the more complex intricacies of our 'modern' postal system. It is just like confronting the poor clerk in a store that is trying to get you to understand and accept store policies set by persons way above her pay grade! I say Five stars is only half enough.

Great service. Thank you for being kind and efficient during these strange times. The only complaint I have are the hours of operation. Many of the locals here have to work outside of Highlands. Seasonal jobs don't pay wages that last through the off season. You can't take care of your families that way. So, having to work till five or six in Franklin when the post office closes at 4:15 is a pain. I know that the super rich tourists and the retirees are the bread and butter of this town. But there are so many of us here that don't fit in that group. We matter too. Thanks for reading my post.

Every time I come to this post office the lady behind the counter is extremely rude. She has a bad habit of speaking to people like they are stupid and frequently blames and belittles customers for failed deliveries or missing packages. She has on multiple occasions cut me off mid sentence with a snappy attitude and regularly makes complaints about delivering mail to the company I work (at a very low level) for. My mail is consistently lost or unavailable here.

Personal service probably is best. Their phone service is the worst imaginable. You start by calling an 800# that gets you nowhere. No matter what you punch in, you get this same irritating voice asking what you want, over and over again. I'm very computer and voice mail savvy but this one even stumped me. It was TERRIBLE and never got my question answered. Don't waste your time calling the 800#. All you will get out of it will be stress.

Everyone here is great EXCEPT the bitter old man! He is so impatient, arrogant and is just overall very unpleasant to encounter! I personally know people who avoid going to this post office just because of this sour old man. Please do us all a favor, quit your job if you hate it. Otherwise just don’t huff and puff about your job while you are doing it. It makes us all really uncomfortable and it doesn’t help anything.

It is truly a shame because everyone else here is so sweet and helpful. To have such a miserable old man working here really sucks all the positive energy out of the postal office.

Just look at all the negative 1 star reviews this usps office has and look at how many are about that old man.

Whoever is responsible for hiring this man, please do something.....

The highlands post office the worse I have ever seen.. human beings do not deal with phone calls? only unhelpful recorders .. instead of adding more inadequate voice's which doesn't help us the people.. hire a real person..who can answer our questions.. incompetent at its best.. be sure this person have at least a smile to be courteous..men are very unwelcome.. dislike to go there.. kindnes is easier:)

THE OLDER MAN THAT WORKS HERE IS INCREDIBLY RUDE!!!

I am from out of state. I called a week ahead to make sure I could have an amazon order delivered here and was told I could, just to have it done general delivery. The items were sent in two orders. The first time I came to pick up an item that was delivered he told me I would have to come back at another time to pick it up because he didn’t have time to look for it.

When I came back a couple days later for the other package he was very rude and told me I couldn’t have packages delivered there and made me pay $8.80 to receive my package.

A package of mine has been lost and my postman wasn’t very nice or helpful about it. He swears he didn’t have it but online says it was delivered. This is the third time with this bull and it should not happen!! I have never had this many problems with USPS but these guys obviously do not care.

The man in the office came out long enough to be very rude about addressing and packaging and ran back in his office before he had to do any work. He has return many my packages for bogus reasons. This is no way for him to make friends. Just sad..........

The man in here is horrible. He will return or break your packages as often as he can. He is rude and vile. He needs to be fired and replaced. Don't try to reason with him, he is just a lonely little man.

If I could give less than one star I would. Rules and regulations change according to situation and everyday is a different story. Terrible is the only word I can think of.

Extremely rude. They've just been rejecting my mail because I didn't tell them to deliver it....and had the nastiest attitude about it.

Not very polite; and takes forever to get help. When you finally do get help they act agitated and annoyed that they have to help you.
