If you drive further ahead, about eight minutes, of the Bridal Veil Falls there's an area on the left to park for the Dry falls. There is a machine to buy a parking pass. When I passed to check it was a free fee day. I'm unclear if it's because it's Saturday or because of the hour. Also, come early because there is limited parking spaces! We were leaving around 2 PM and there was a line of five cars waiting for a parking space. There is a restroom here, it is like an outhouse as in no flushing or running water. Make sure to bring water and hand sanitizer. Yes, you can smell the bathroom. Those with a sensitive smell don't get near the small brown house with two black tubes on either side.
Now, to see the Dry Falls you must go down a path slopping down with stairs. I saw many elderly with a cane being able to walk down with assistance.
It is incredibly beautiful. Plenty of picture worthy spots. Definitely a family spot. There were many who came with children and carpooled to the area. There were also many bikers on the road. This scenic spot is one of many on the road. A definite place to bring family or come with friends.

There is no trail to reach the waterfall.
It is amazing.
I was there on 12/26/23 and it was empty.
I am in love with this waterfall.
Going behind it is an incredible experience.

Incredible waterfall!!! The walk was easy, paved with handrails but can be slippery or icy if you go in the winter. Good to have an inhaler if you require one, coming back up both my aunt and I were needing one. So fun to walk behind and see all the water flowing in front of you.

Limited parking, so on Labor Day Weekend, not much chance of getting in to see the falls. There was a line of cars bottling up the river side of the road to turn into the parking lot. Maybe I’ll try it on a weekday early on in the day - and then I can post a more promising review! 😁

Updated 9/9/23: Went early morning the weekend AFTER Labor Day, so I was the only one in the parking lot! Pay your $3 fee at the kiosk (or QR code), then take the nicely paved stairs and trail down to the falls. Yes, you can walk on the path behind the falls and stay mostly dry, except for spray from the falls and the occasional drip from the rock ceiling above.
Pit toilets by the parking lot. Parking space for about 20 vehicles. Best to enter the parking lot from the Franklin direction on 64, especially if busy. You won’t be able to turn left across traffic if coming from Highlands on a busy day.

Visited on 7/23/23
$3 to park, cash or card
Beautiful waterfall not far from the parking area. Lots of steps but not too difficult. We were able to walk behind the falls which is pretty cool. Our Dog enjoyed it too 😊

Of all of the waterfalls we've seen so far, this is our favorite! The kids LOVE walking behind the waterfalls. It's not a far walk at all. There are stairs involved but not a ridiculous amount. There's only one walkway in and out of the waterfall so it can get chaotic when it gets busy. It is muddy behind the falls, so keep that in mind when choosing your shoes for the hike. This waterfall is a must-see. There is a fee of $3 for this waterfall, and there is a kiosk that takes credit card payments. There are bathrooms on site and a good amount of parking.

Great fun place to stop with short walk to the falls. Great place to stop even if you aren’t visiting the area!

Super huge flow waterfall was far from dry. It had been raning five days straight the week before we went, making for an awesome experience. Stairs were well maintained so even the blind gentleman I was behind had no problem navigating the walk down. Great place

Probably the most unique falls I've been to so far. Just amazing! You can put this at the top of your list.
It's pretty commercialized and very easy to get to with stairs and a designated pathway down through the gorge. Going behind the falls was the best part! You will certainly feel the mist and be slightly damp but not unpleasantly drenched. There is a $3 parking fee but it may be the best $3 you will ever spend.

P.S. Bridal Veil Falls is also nearby, check that one out too. Not nearly as big but still a pretty cool sight to see.

Short walk on a paved walkway from the parking lot with stairs. Was super gorgeous! And you can even walk behind the falls.

O M G! I can't believe I almost missed this one. The stairs and walkway were a little treacherous because the overnight temperature was down below freezing and one section of stairs and walkway were icy. They had the path that goes behind the falls blocked off for safety reasons because of ice as well. But this is an amazing waterfall.

You need to see this! It's so amazing!
Very short walk on sidewalk and steps to see this waterfall. It's right on the main road with a big parking lot. Just park your car and follow the path. If you choose, you can keep following the sidewalk behind/under the waterfall and walk around to the other side....prepare to get sprinkled. Would caution that the path is wet and has some algae up close to the falls and behind it. So worth taking the time to stop and see it.

I did not walk all the way down and underneath the falls, but did see other people walking way down there. We were there during peak colors also, two weeks ago.

No effort all reward kind of hike. Walk down a set of stairs to one of the coolest waterfalls you’ll ever find.

What awesome view and sight, we took the short easy walk down and behind the falls. Took some pictures and made a memorable trip even better. Parking can be a pain but have patience and spot will open, just wait at the entrance. It a honor system self pay, worth the 2 or 3 bucks per persons.

Definitely one of the best waterfalls in western North Carolina. Dry Falls is a strange name because you’re sure to get wet if you go under it. Parking lot is somewhat small and there are bathrooms there and picnic tables as well. The walk down has some stairs but not difficult and was nicely paved. Not much else to do there besides the falls but still well worth it to stop by.

Beautiful drive up to the falls. You can view the falls from the overlook at the parking lot as well as walking down to the falls.

We had a great time here. Biggest issue is parking since there is not a lot available if you go on a busy day like the weekend but generally if you are patient you will get a spot since people come and go often. You may spend an hour or two here. The walk to the falls is not long and is an easy path to walk even with young kids. There are places to sit and rest if you need to but it's really not necessary unless you have someone older with you. It's not the type of place where you are going to get in the water (hence the name) but you will get a nice mist when you walk under the falls especially if the wind is blowing.

Our favorite water fall. Safe walking path behind the falls, providing a great way to cool off in summer and unique pictures of all 4 sides of the waterfall.
