Crowne Plaza Portland-Downtown Conv Ctr

I've been to my fair share of hotels throughout the years, but the Crowne Plaza was definitely one of the better stays I've had out of all of them. Visited for a convention. I needed an early check-in and was nervous about whether I would actually be able to do so. I called the day prior and was informed that I could arrive early, and upon arrival, I was able to check in with ease and without having any issues. The front desk staff was fantastic and even got me a room further up and with a pretty decent view of the city.

Stay wise, I would say things were pretty average. The rooms were nice, maybe a little dated but nothing to complain about. The beds were comfortable and very clean, and the room was clean and spacious. The in-room amenities were great. The thermostat was a bit strange, and the room did get fairly cold as expected for November, but extra blankets were available in the rooms closet. The bathroom was pretty standard, though there was a lot of counter space. The only issue with the rooms was that you could hear a decent amount of commotion from the hall and the other rooms. It's not so bad you couldn't ignore it, but it definitely took some adjusting to.

The pool/spa was alright. The temperature of the spa was a lot better than some out there. Again, everything seemed clean for the most part. Unfortunately, I had an incident on the last night where I stepped on some glass that was left behind (likely by another guest), but the staff was incredibly kind and quick to get it cleaned up, so I can't complain too much.

In regards to the safety of the area. The hotel was less than a 10 minute walk from the convention center, which was part of why I booked with them. It was also in close proximity to a few stores and multiple food options. For the most part, it's fairly safe. Not anymore dangerous than any other area in a large city, though I suppose it could be jarring for people who've never lived in or stayed in a place like Portland. Most of the walk was well lit, and the hotel itself was very well lit on the property. I felt safe and comfortable walking back from the convention center at around 10 p.m., so in my opinion, the area was alright as long as you're aware and pay attention.

Overall, this was a great hotel, the price was reasonable, and I intend to return next year for another stay. I definitely recommend it when searching for a hotel near the convention center.

Definitely would stay again. Wish the pool and bar had extended hours. After our event it was either eat at the bar or go for a dip. Sadness 😔. Food was great. Rooms modern and Clean. Quite stay. walked to the Moda. Staff was really nice. Thanks guys!

We chose this hotel b/c of its close proximity to the Convention Center. I will say it’s a bit more expensive then other hotels but it will save you parking fees and headaches trying to park at the Convention center. Also this was within walking distance to our event. Hotel and Rooms are nice and clean. Breakfast was delicious with many food/snack choices. We also got 2 complimentary vouchers for breakfast. Check in staff were wonderful even though they were very busy. Breakfast staff were very nice as well. Safe place. Will definitely stay here again for another event!

We rented nine rooms for the night of the TobyMac concert and couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. The front desk staff was very welcoming and helpful. Our rooms were updated and clean and the walk to the Moda Center even felt safe! We will definitely stay here again.

Pretty impressed how you can barely hear I-5 in our city view room or any trains. Hardly heard neighbors either. Beds were super comfy and the King City View room we had was extremely spacious. Didn’t get to use the pool or hot tub but they looked nice.

Right by the Moda center this place is luxurious. Quick 10 minute walk to watch Raptors vs Portland. Loved the secure parking and the closeness to the trams.

I chose this hotel because is pretty close to the downtown area with a short walk across the bridge to get there. The tram stop is also just a block away if you don't want to walk.
As an IHG diamond member, I've been to plenty of hotels lately and this one exemplifies what is the best of IHG. I've never been disappointed with Crown Plaza and look forward to coming here again and eating those Chilaquiles one more time.

We love staying here when we are going to moda center events. We like to just walk there and walk back. Always very clean facility. Absolutely love there lotion, soaps and shampoo and conditioner. Please send me some. It's sooo yummy smelling

Had a really good stay here, all the staff I spoke to were really friendly and helpful - had an issue on my first night that there was no shower curtain in my bathroom, but that was rectified within 10 minutes of me contacting reception :) Nice having a swimming pool on site which I used a couple of times. Location is convenient for a number of bus routes and the Max is only about a 5 minute walk.

Great location for a concert at the Moda Center. I took my Mom and her friend, who are seniors, and we walked to the concert. It was just the right distance, about 10 minutes.
The staff was very friendly and gave good suggestions.

Reason for edit was I was wrong about hotel charging 50% of room fee in taxes, I was taken by the booking site, which I thought was the hotel. Just be careful about how you book.

Good location and nice views from the room. The room looks exactly like the pictures. The only downside is they charge $25 for parking per day. THEY HAVE THEIR OWN PARKING LOT!!

By far one of the most underrated hotels in Portland. This hotel has impressed me with not only great customer service and clean rooms but by far the best food from any hotel I've ever stayed at. And I've stayed all over the world. You have to try the Chiliquiles or Waffle with Nutella. Even the presentation is impressive. I've read a lot of reviews on here and can assure you when it comes to Portlands "issue with homeless" this hotel is actual one of the better ones.

This was a perfect place and location to stay close to everything and the highway. They have a pool and hot tub. It's a secure building as well. Had to pay $25 for parking. There is a restaurant on the ground floor I didn't get a chance to visit. The manager corrected me on the parking I guess not so bad if you compare. Oh and I forgot there is a free shuttle that will run you I think up to 3 miles to businesses. Totally forgot to mention that. The driver was really nice and friendly. I went to the rum club on the same side of the hotel.

If you're going to any events at the Rose garden, now known as veterans memorial or Moda center for an event this is the place to stay!!! Easy walk to the event and back

Wow! Stayed here as a guest of Amtrak, but rooms are in the $150-$200 range based on Google maps, and I feel the overall quality and service of the hotel is definitely up to par, or inline with that price range, it's VERY nice here! Everything worked good, including fancy digital thermostat, and fancy coffee maker (which also included a selection of tea!). The room is clean and modern and in great shape/repair, I'm thinking this is a fairly new and modern hotel? There is an In-house restaurant & bar that also does room delivery, and also a mini-mart area where you can purchase snacks and drinks to take your room! 😎👍

Usually use this location when going to a basketball game. But comes in handy when the downtown locations are full. Service and facilities were great as always.

Good location if you’re watching NBA game in Moda centre, room was spacious, good ventilation, place was not crowded.

This city is plagued by one of the worst unhoused populations in the world. This Property is in relatively safer, cleaner neighborhood compared to comparable properties that are inundated by petty crime. Rooms are standard and views are charming. They offer bicycles to explore the city and staff are knowledgeable and friendly

If you are visiting the convention center, this is a great hotel. About a 10 minute walk to both the convention center and the MAX station. The staff was attentive and friendly. If you are coming to or from the PDX airport we found out that the hotel shuttle is not 24 hours. So if you have a very early flight (before 4am) you will need to find another mode of transportation to the airport.
