Such sweet and helpful staff, the store itself has everything you'd need and then some! Can't stress enough how great the staff are.. smart, kind, efficient, knowledgeable and thoughtful. My go to music shop and should be yours too 💚 Nothing bad to say and everything to want! Everything is in fantastic condition and is a very clean environment.

The service here is top notch! Everyone is super helpful to share their musical knowledge. I have bought multiple Hohner harmonicas here as well as sheet music, microphones, and Fender speakers. Everything has worked great.

First off, some of the finest instruments in PDX. But, to the Portland music store on Southeast division; please put a LARGER sign (lighted even) to indicate where your *%#+ing parking is located. How about one of those giant curved arrows with Portland Music in giant letters? ( btw, if you already have something like that and I missed it? My bad, disregard my petty rant). This location is nearly impossible to get into if you don’t know where the semi hidden lot is and if you miss it on the first try, you’ve got to go do complicated maneuvers and drive around multiple blocks and turns to get back to it so please mark your parking better! I gave up on it last time because of this, (rush hour, forget it). And all other parking nearby is other businesses only. So skipped it. That’s my only gripe. Otherwise a great store. Again 5 stars for the store!

I brought in my son's violin to have the bridge reset. The guys that helped were very nice, quick and then took the time to retune it. Did this for no charge! I was so grateful I didn't have to drive further out. Highly recommend, I will be going back for any further musical needs. Thank you guys!!

My go-to guitar store, shout out to Zach for a quick & easy restring on my acoustic! Highly recommend PMC if you want to get any work done on your acoustic! 10/10 recommend!

I've used music shops all over the country and I've never had better service than at the Portland Music Company on Division. I can't recommend them enough.

My absolute go-to store for any questions about my guitar and ukuleles for two years now. The staff have always been outstandingly friendly and go out of their way to get you what you need or point you somewhere that can. Beautiful instruments, knowledgeable staff, clean and inviting storefront.

Great music store, fair price for used equipment and when I needed to upgrade my son's guitar pedals they were a huge help and I was able to sell his old ones for cash or store credit or trade. Really laid back environment. Lots of selection and knowledgeable staff.

I've spent a lot of time around this place. I respect the staff so much for everything they do. They are extremely knowledgeable and kind-hearted. One of the things that I respect the most is the amount of honesty they give. If they don't know the answer to something they'll tell you rather than pretend that they know. The best part about that is that they are also so very willing to try and get to the bottom of it. Whether its a routing issue in your DAW to knowing which cable you need. The staff is far from pretentious, willing to help anyone get to the source of the problem or at the very least the start of a solution. The stock is always top notch as well, with an in-house tech it's hard to let much slip by without it being addressed. I've picked up many guitars that play poorly out of the box or had issues, and this is why shopping local is so great. They put their hands on the instruments to make sure that they play at a pro level, even if they are budget instruments. They are also willing to special order instruments for you! Some companies have an unfortunately long lead-time in terms of orders. But the last guitar I got from them (with a lead-time of 18 months) showed up in 6!

I bought a Taylor 310 from Portland Music in 2001 at their old downtown store. It is in perfect shape however, I wanted something more playable for pleasure. Keenan and Marvin were amazing. Keenan worked with me for hours and Marvin kept an ear out and checking in. I walked out with a different guitar than I went in to buy and I couldn't be happier. I love my new Martin OOO-18. Best musical investment that I have made for myself, ever! Thanks guys!

Seriously, every time I come here I get the most attentive and friendly service! I'm impressed anew every single time. When my daughter and I were in today, Matt and Laura (as usual) gave us top-notch service. Amazing selection and they encourage customers to walk through the store and play anything. It's obvious every time I'm here that this is a great workplace and the employees are happy. Screw Amazon and other large chain stores, buy local and keep your dollars in our community! The service is always better anyway.

Probably the best place I found to get what you want. The people here are super helpful and have even gotten me some parts from the back for free in my time of need. It's way better to support local then to buy from Amazon or Walmart

Dylan Schatzkamer is fantastic.
When it comes to action, set up, articulation of an instrument based on style of play (in this case bass) he an expert.

Had a slight shift in my Fender Precision and he saw the tweak it needed. The action felt stiff and restrictive yesterday. (Slight Shift in climate in the studio)

Brought it in to Dylan and within 20 minutes it felt like the day I bought the instrument.
