Whatever you do, do not do business with Wood. I’m a graduate student at A-State completing a project funded by a small grant. With limited resources, I price things out before making a purchase. Wood had the lowest price for schedule 40, so I chose to order my PVC from them. Without providing/confirming a quote, they cut the PVC so it was no longer returnable, then charged a 384% markup. They charged $1,576.10 for an order that cost $410.18 on their website. I built the order on the website and saved a copy of the quote. I told them these were the dimensions I had seen online, and confirmed that they were what we were ordering, so they knew I was using their site to research/make purchasing decisions. At pickup, they said they knew the prices online weren’t accurate, so they were aware and never informed us. When I called to request that they refund the difference and honor the advertised price, they said that it was standard in construction for prices to be different from what is listed. While I understand market variability and contractor discounts, a 384% difference is not standard. The listed prices are predatory and deliberately deceptive, and this business is perfectly comfortable scamming a student with VERY limited funding. They are disreputable, and do not deserve your business.
