Dr. Zafar is wonderful and I feel so lucky to have found this practice!!! I was a mess on my first visit and 2 years later, I feel a lot better and most importantly feel like I have someone to count on which makes a huge difference. It didn't TAKE 2 years to feel better, I felt better in 2 weeks!!! Just wanted to be clear. I highly recommend GVP :)

The incompetence of this place is outstanding. Called a week ago to refill a prescription and literally still nothing back. If you have any problems doubt count on them fixing it. Although my doctor is very nice. This just really bothers me that it isn't taken seriously.

took time off middle workday once to have my first consult , never seen a psychiatrist before. I was nervous. reception never informed me they were behind an hour. psychiatrist made me feel like a small helpless idiot. felt like she had no sympathy. maybe she thought I was just there for meds. Also wont let me see the other doctor if I've seen one there before

The female receptionist who answered the phone should be ashamed of herself. Individuals suffering from mental health issues should never be spoken to like she does. There’s so many more offices that care about their patients well-being - seek those out before ever going here.

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF CONTINUING MEDS. I have been to both psychiatrists at this practice.
I recently moved here from out of state (where I have blissfully enjoyed empathetic, quality mental healthcare as a baseline). I have been to Dr. Elliott AND Dr. Zafar.
Yes, as others have intimated, the Dr. Elliott experience can be quite dehumanizing, but at least he is 100% clear upfront that no, he will not be continuing any medicines for you that you are currently on if they happen to be considered a "controlled substance" because he simply "does not believe in them." Convenient viewpoint to have considering the fact that there are currently government crackdowns on doctors for prescribing controlled substances. It is abundantly clear that regardless of whether a patient's best interests include the use of a controlled substance, this Dr. has different priorities.
Because I could not continue my care with him, I then went to Dr. Zafar in hopes of appropriate care. She did have a better bedside manner, if you will. Seeing my prescription for the lowest denomination of a controlled substance, she IMMEDIATELY slashed the prescription to ONE THIRD of what I had been getting for three years from my other mental healthcare team (I provided her with paper and physical proof of my previous prescription). In order to even get THAT consideration, I was made to go on antidepressants (which I reluctantly did so I could get what I actually needed). I agreed to her cutting my prescription down to ONE THIRD because she assured me repeatedly that as soon as I ran out she would immediately refill the prescription, so I never needed to worry about "running out," as someone would naturally do if their doctor was cutting down their prescription so drastically. (Let me reiterate, this Dr. slashed my prescription without knowing me at all! Where is the justification for such a dramatic medication change other than that she is looking out for herself, not for the patient?) Well, I just went six days with no medicine because, yes, I did "run out," and no, this Dr. did not come through with her word. When I saw her in person, she relentlessly recanted on everything she promised me regarding not having to worry about "running out." She had the tact to call me "high strung" when I have been beside myself, unmedicated with unrelenting anxiety attacks for six days. Yes, Dr. Zafar, when patients are not medicated properly as promised, they tend to become "high strung." Instead of understanding the severity of being unmedicated for days, she became defensive and repetitive-stating that "You have your medication NOW, so it is not a problem."
Seeking help from both of these psychiatrists has resulted in exacerbated acute anxiety and grossly restricted medication.
Please, please, please, especially if you have anxiety that requires immediate care.... do not trust this facility's doctors to act in your best interest. They are more concerned with keeping controlled substance prescriptions down to a minimum because it covers them...... not you.

Wow, Called for Appointment, Debbie answered, she was short, rude, and said no appointments until December, truly felt like I was bothering her, held on to make appointment, Sandra Said next available December 31st 2015 what a joke, we will make appointment and shop elsewhere...........Whoa, Rude AF

If these DR's can't handle the workload they shouldn't be in business, 5 months for a Psychologist could cause many a suicides and is not good patient care IMO
