This is the best gym! It's such positive environment. The small classes make it so the coaches can pay everyone attention and help adjust form or suggest modifications. My mobility has gone way up since I started as well as my strength and stamina. All the coaches are amazing. 10/10 would recommend.

Love love love this gym! I found it randomly and decided to check it out. So glad I did, especially since I'm not one to do workouts.

The classes are small (less than 10), the coaches are super friendly and down to earth, and the exercises are meant to be pushing you while not killing you. I mostly do the powerlifting and really appreciate the help with form that the coaches provide. A free app on the phone helps me keep track of my weights and I never feel pressured.

Classmates come from all walks of life and I'm not the only momma there! I highly recommend this gym!!

I can honestly say that I look forward to working out each day at this gym! The coaches are very knowledgeable and the members are super supportive. I had never really lifted weights prior to joining this gym but with the help of the wonderful coaches, I feel stronger, healthier, and happier! The environment is not intimidating at all and the coaches really work with you to improve your form. I love the group work out classes--how the classes are well thought out with a great mix of conditioning and strength training.

This place is amazing. They want you to see the results you want and guide you to your goals with their knowledge and expertise. Small class sizes make it so that the coaches can correct form if need be. The support from not only coaches but members is great and very body positive. There are all sorts of body types at this gym which makes it less intimidating and the coaches are very approachable.

This gym is great! I was a bit nervous to start not knowing anything about weightlifting but quickly found that everyone was so welcoming and helpful. The trainers are great about meeting you at the level you’re at so each class works well for all skill levels and strengths.

I have attended Capital City Barbell for three + years. It is a wonderful place to pursue fitness. The coaching staff offer encouragement and expertise regardless of where you are on your journey. The facility is super clean and the equipment well organized. The atmosphere is friendly yet professional. I LOVE this gym!!!❤

Five weeks in, I'm feeling so much improvement in my strength and flexibility! All the instructors are approachable and quick with feedback or answers to questions during workouts - and the classes are small enough that even a group class feels much like a one-on-one session. I'm lifting with my hams and butt now instead of just my quads and back! After sending an email with questions about my personal goals, Tyler and John met with me to talk about short-term and long-term ways to reach them. They really care about your health and success :)

I’ve been with CCB for probably over a year now and I can’t recommend them enough! The workouts are really fun if you enjoy lifting. The workouts are great for any level of experience and the coaches are so supportive. Whatever your skill level or goals are, it’s a really welcoming environment!

I've enjoyed Capital city barbell from day one! I've always felt welcome, I never once felt judged about my fitness level. The coaches are always watching and correct my poor form when necessary. The encouragement from the other people in groups makes this a fun place to be. The best "me" time that I look forward too!

Amazing coaching that is available through both one on one and with group classes. It took me years to find a gym as fantastic as this one. It has not only a fantastic community, but coaches that care about your progress in strength, cardio, and form. If you’re just starting or a grizzled veteran, this is a perfect gym for you!

I love this gym! The coaches are very friendly, approachable, and super knowledgeable and willing to help and make sure you are doing the movement correctly. The vibe of the gym is warm and everyone is welcoming. And the classes are so fun!

CCB is a friendly place with a knowledge/skill based approach to training. I have really enjoyed getting to know Coach Steph Anson and getting her help on Weightlifting technique and her enthusiastic support to develop myself as an athlete. As someone in my 50's, certainly there are a lot of little voices whispering to cut it out! Lol. CCB's inclusive and gentle approach, letting folks move at their own pace, has been greatly appreciated.

This is the best gym I have ever been a member of. All the coaches are extremely knowledgeable and have been a great resource. Also nice to be part of a gym community devoid of egos. A rarity. I cannot recommend CCB enough.

I highly recommend Capital City Barbell! The coaches are great at listening to your individual interests and create a fun and encouraging atmosphere. I've been there for several years now and think their programming keeps me healthy and has allowed me to get even stronger. Capital City Barbell is an amazing gym. Steph and Tyler are very kind and welcoming. They have established a great, non-judgemental environment where all members get personal attention and make gains on their lifts. I was initially apprehensive about some of the lifts but with proper coaching and technique was quickly put at ease. I find the classes challenging and enjoy the daily variety of exercises. I always look forward to my workouts! If you are interested in getting stronger and having fun in a welcoming gym don’t hesitate to call Tyler and Steph.

I've worked out at a couple of other Crossfit and Crossfit style gyms in town before and no complaints or issues with those gyms.....however as I got older the more my body felt each and every workout and I needed something more sustainable. That's when I stumbled upon CCB. I was specifically looking for an Olympic weight lifting gym and theirs is the only one in town. I was worried about the fit and community at first....but at the very first workout, that fear was quickly laid to rest, every single person came up and introduced themselves and made me feel welcome and excited to have me there. The community is absolutely awesome! They have a very unique and special thing happening at their gym. I had been plagued by injuries and I wasn't even sure that I wanted to start working out again. I reached out to Steph and asked her about her gym and explained my situation....her attitude was infectious and inspiring. She made me feel like I could actually DO the workouts. I mean people always say 'ya ya we can modify' but to me it always sounds forced. With Steph she was so genuine and excited to be able to help me on my journey. Steph and Tyler are both incredibly knowledgable and helpful. I also have to point out....their organization and professionalism is top shelf! Every thing at them gym, in their emails, on their website....everything...all the little details make this place shine and the experience so much different than any of the other gyms in Salem. What stood out the most though was the knowledge. I hate working out places where everything is 'great' or 'perfect' when it comes to form....I wanted actual feedback and critiquing which is hard to find among other fitness enthusiasts and gyms. Steph and Tyler both were kind and constructive with their suggestions. I immediately started noticing improvements just form the littlest tweak. This gym isn't necessarily Crossfit....it's an Olympic weight lifting gym. Now that said they do have some Crossfit style elements but the focus truly is on the lifting and technique which is exactly what I was looking for. I felt like I was in safe hands with them and not in danger of potentially injuring myself further. After a major surgery, they tailored my workouts to fit my ability and I never felt like I was being a pain. Their gym is truly something special and I would highly recommend them! For the first time in a long time, I feel like I've found my weightlifting home.....the knowledge, people, and coaches make this place extra special. Go check them out!

I switched to CCB after a few years of doing CrossFit; I was tired of feeling beat up, and I had plateaued in my strength. Steph and Tyler have done a fantastic job of creating an inclusive gym environment where members check their egos at the door and build each other up through fun and challenging workouts. Their programming is intentional and designed to help you continue building your strength, they cap their class at numbers that allow you to receive personalized and meaningful feedback, and their focus on sustainable fitness and proper technique will allow you to make progress without wrecking your body. They also offer various styles of programming (strength and conditioning, Olympic lifting, powerlifting, and personal training), and are willing to work with you to help you meet (and even define!) your unique needs/goals. In an increasingly-crowded fitness market, you'll be hard pressed to find folks working this hard to do right by their clients; Salem is lucky to have this gem!

I love working out at Capital City Barbell such a great community of people! We have lots of fun extras like a CSA (share of garden goodies), get togethers and an outdoor club. The training is amazing, very individualized and such a knowledgeable staff!
