This side of the sandy river was lovely. There is a lifeguard station with lifevests and there are swift and slow parts of the river there. There are sandy beaches with rocks and blackberries along the shore. There’s plenty of shade in the afternoon on that side without very many bugs. We had a lovely time and definitely plan to go again.

Enjoy nature’s bounty of waffle grilled cheese and soft serve ice cream from Sugarpine while watching rafters and kayakers tip over into the water after misjudging the curve their route would take on the water. (Everyone is safe as the water is shallow.)

Truly a mini paradise.

A truly beautiful place.

There’s a peacefulness to the environment as it brings you back to nature.

The river stream has a magical calmness to its tides.

There’s free parking with wide space to park your car.

Really nice park. Bigger than it looks on the map. The forested parts are really lush and the river running through is nice.
It was almost empty at 11am on a Saturday.
Posted signs that no pets are allowed.
Seems like a good place to enjoy nature with the family.

Was able to take 2 young kiddos on a beautiful and safe nature walk through the woods and then back along the river. When we arrived a river rescue fellow asked us if we wanted life vests--that's service!! Depending on river level (it was pretty low today) it is possibly to walk along the river the whole way, but there are ways to get up and over obstacles when the river is a little higher. There are times in the spring or late winter I wouldn't attempt that, though.

Love the cute little cozy park hidden away near the bathrooms. The bathrooms could use some deep cleaning, they smelled bad. Other than that, it was nice and shady.

Nice place to picnic while enjoying our meal from Sugarpine Drive-in.
There's a small sandy area, mostly rocks.

Great shady park with lots of BBQs, long tables and a playground and basketball court. The park is where many play or tube in the water. Also near the park is the gourmet farm-to-table drive inn called Sugar Pine grinds. T-F they also offer Hawaiian plates from food truck in back

Beautiful here. Quiet, tranquil and just far enough out of Portland to feel a little bit of the magic. Great place for a walk.

Beautiful park we with picnic area, walking trails and swimming in the Sandy River. Very popular location! Sugar Pine Drive In is also located here. So we don't have to drive anywhere else for the amazing soft-serve ice cream!!! ☺

Love this park. Never too busy, but also really enjoy the events that we've been to that were hosted here. The playground is a good size for younger kids and the trails by the river afford endless exploration. When it's very hot, jumping in the river for a swim is perfect.
