Melissa does a meticulous job...and she knows color!!! I took my twin 17 year old girls to see her & wow....they both wanted something fun & different, and Melissa delivered- TASTEFULLY! I am always so pleased with her work & I trust her so much that I usually don’t even tag along on their appointments. She is also very knowledgeable about hair health & what treatments will be right for your hair type. She has certainly helped me improve the quality of my aging locks!

I must add that I feel very safe at Mayapple- one client at a time sure gives me peace of mind right now.

I have naturally curly hair and I have always struggled to find someone who could cut it correctly and help me tame my curls. It wasn’t until senior year of high school when my teacher shared Melissa’s name with me. As a fellow curly girl, I trusted her advice and booked an appointment. And I’m so glad I did! I absolutely love this Salon. I have very thick curly hair and I wouldn't go anywhere else to get it cut. It's so hard to find someone who can do my ind of hair well, but I also have friends that go to her who have thin straight hair so I think she can do any type of hair well. I always love how my hair turns out and when she's done with my hair I pretty much wake up every morning and my hair is basically perfect. On top of that the salon itself is beautiful and fun to be in while getting your hair done.

Melissa Arens, owner, is a warm and very skilled, talented stylist. She has a vast range of abilities and is always willing to try new things, or come up with something you like. I've been going to Mayapple many years and am very pleased with the service and warmth and thoughtfulness of its stylists. As a person with curly hair, I especially like how she thinks about and cuts my hair.

Very professional, clean, yet laid back and fun atmosphere! Great talented stylists that I'd recommend to anyone! It's a cute little salon/boutique. All the ladies are wonderful and so kind towards their clients. They never put you down for your ideas but gently let you know if the idea would work for you or not. And then they make it work for you in an amazing way. I've been to other hair dressers that tell me my hairs to flat or thin An there's nothing they can do. The stylists there made me feel beautiful An gave me a gorgeous style I never would of dreamed would work for me!!!

I've been going to Mayapple for close to 10 years. I can't say enough good things about Melissa as an individual or her business, but I'll point out the things that I appreciate about my experience as a client.

The environment is very chill. The shades are always pulled back, which gives you a lot of natural lighting and if it's a beautiful day you'll find some windows opened to give you some fresh air. It's an inclusive atmosphere that is catered to the individual client.

In the current climate with COVID some may have concerns about safety or sanitation. This is the beauty of a place like Mayapple. It's appointment based, so you will be the only client in the building. Even before COVID this was a huge plus for me as I prefer smaller crowds. I am also pretty particular about germs and cleanliness, so I wouldn't be continuing to go to Mayapple if I didn't feel the sanitation wasn't top notch.

Mel really took the time to listen and work with me on what I wanted and what actually worked for my curly hair. All curly girls in NWA give her a call next time y'all need a special cut!
