This is a fantastic family place. It has a great playground and picnic tables located on a very historic, unique place.

From the National Park Service:

“For emigrants, today's Birnie Park was more than just a place along the Oregon Trail. It was also an important camping and staging area. In order to leave Grande Ronde Valley and continue on the Trail, emigrants faced a nearly 1000 ft. climb up steep valley walls. Teams of oxen had to be combined in order to pull the wagons up this rise. The area now known as Birnie Park provided a perfect location to do this preparation.

“Site Information

Location (on C Avenue near Sixth Street, La Grande, Oregon)

The 2.2 acre park currently contains a trail-themed playground, interpretive exhibits, and a small paved path with eight glazed ceramic columns. These columns illustrate a pioneer family and the trip through the Grande Ronde Valley by covered wagon. They were designed by artists Don Gray and Tom Diamond.. Amenities include picnic tables, a small picnic shelter, and restrooms.”

Had a great time with my toddler niece with the slides and running around the park.

Has some great shade spots, picnic tables and a nice walkway. Really enjoyed the wildlife as well, there was a friendly deer along with a few birds along the outskirts.

Additionally, the provided water fountain and bathrooms were nice.

Our kids have always loved this park! Slides, climbing, swings and a kid-powered excavator! Swings are traditional belt, baby and accessible. Drinking fountain is on site but may be seasonal. Bathrooms also on site but not sure on availability. There are also a few picnic tables on site with a covered area near by.

This park is well kept, and the play structure is great for toddlers and babies without completely losing the fun aspect for older kids. I also appreciate the paths cutting through the grass fields here (they're great for riding bikes, scooters, etc.). My four year old loves this park, and I find that the 15 month old can also climb on the play structure without difficulty.

Great place to walk your dog or cat.
Amazing place obverse wild White Tail Deer and their Deer Families.
It has Swing Sets climbing bars
Restrooms. Nice parking areas for your vehicles.
It also has Picnic tables and a cover area with large picnic table with a chest board carved into them.
They have name plates for plants and trees.

For the kids this park has a newer play structure, swings for all ages, sand box with digger, and a couple other things to play with. The park includes a drinking fountain and well maintained public restroom right next to the playground, picnic tables with barbecues, a walking path with informational plaques, pretty landscaping, and lots of grass to run around on. It's not the largest park or playground, but it ticks all my boxes for a convenient and fun place for my young boys to play.

My kids love it is clean. My kids will play while I do laps playing Pokemon go. It has 2 gyms and 2 Pokemon stops. And it's smaller then most parks. And my dogs love it as well.

It's out on the back roads. Quiet and lots of wildlife. Almost ran into Turkey's today. Although still snow covered its a nice place to visit. Can't wait to see how it looks come spring.

Bernie Park is a nice clean park. There are deer that wander around in it. The kids toys are up to date and the environment is quiet and relaxing.

Nice place to walk our 12.5 year old lab. Paths could use a little upkeep and the wild turkeys made it an interesting lace to visit.

Cool park.... it caught my son's eye, we had fun. Interesting Oregon pioneer stories, with quotes from the settlers. Better than waiting at the hospital 👍👍

Gorgeous Parks. It Looks Small But That's Very Misleading When You Walk It. Also Very Much History. Dog Friendly Except On The Children's Park, Of Course.

I love this clean little park. It is small but had lots of fun stuff for the younger kids to play on.
