Evan's New York Style Deli

Ordered a reuben. Biggest, most delicious sandwich ever. And thank heavens they used Russian, not thousand island.

They were busy, phone ringing, people in line. But the guy behind the counter kept it moving. Super courteous, with amazing food. I wish I lived closer to Marblehead!

I am over the top to find high quality pastrami that can compete with a NY deli. Their Romanian pastrami is great- tender and flavorful. Lots of accompaniments, rolls, rye bread to round it out. You can get a sandwich or order cold cuts to go. Small take out with a few tables. Trust me on the pastrami!

Oh … my …. Goodness!!! We treated ourselves to a morning delivery of bagels and knishes and it was amazingly good!!! If you haven’t tried their (or anyone’s) knishes, you really should treat yourselves. I had the pastrami knish and the brisket knish. Both are delicious fistfuls of classic NY Deli meats in a light pastry - basically it’s handheld beef bbq without the sauce. Such a luxury! Evans is now our go to for delicious deli on the North Shore! Also a big shout out to Salem 104.9 FM for broadcasting from Evans NY Deli over the holidays - that how I learned about this great deli just a few blocks from the MHD historic district

From the customer service to the food everything was just perfect. The man behind the counter was very nice both on the phone when I placed the order and in person. It was my first time there my friend wanted a specialty sandwich from there specifically so I called up. I will definitely be back! Thanks ☺

My go to for a quality sandwich. Must get the pastrami knish, truly warms the soul.

Now THIS is a deli. Great knishes, superb sandwiches, excellent selection. Also and noteworthy: There are precisely two places on the North Shore to get outstanding chopped liver: Evan's and my kitchen and, no, I'm not inviting you over so get over to Evan's to learn what the real deal tastes like. Extra bonus - turns out Evan is a nice fellow w a sense of humor, which seems to be a common thread among the folks who work there so you get good deli & a nice environment. Take away or eat in. If you're within 50 miles, worth the drive.

Update - Forgot to mention: If you're up for an outstanding pastrami sandwich, this is your joint. Of course you can probably get one as good or nearly so simply by driving to my fav spot in Brooklyn but, face it, Marblehead isn't >that< hard to get to. I take mine on Rye w mustard - old schul - with a twist: put a nice slice of onion on for a little crunch & to wake up the taste buds for that OMG-that's-good Evan's pastrami flavor. You're welcome. Best NY-style deli on the north shore. Fresh thinly sliced pastrami melts in your mouth. Everything is good...they even carry Dr Brown soda which is the best...give it a try, especially the Cream or Black Cherry...so good. Call in advance as it can get busy during lunch hours.

Plucked straight out of NYC and dropped, intact, right here. Everything here is 100% the real deal, bar none. We drove an hour and it is worth it. Just go.

The girl that made my turkey club sandwich yesterday should get a $5 raise because she can make a fantastic sandwich the atmosphere was great the next time I'm in Marblehead /Swampscott I know where I'm going for a sandwich

Clean and well maintained, good sandwiches and excellent sides. Staff was friendly and attentive, but they were a little shy about reminding customers to put their mask on. I had to ask the other customers twice while there after customers had their masks off for a minute or so. I get it, I work food service and sometimes don't notice myself, so no marks off star wise. Still worth mentioning though.

Evan's recently prepared a dinner for 15 with which I was involved. Everyone raved about the food! The price was fair and the delivery excellent. Personally, I am at Evan's probably once a week. All three of his chicken salads are excellent as is the turkey. The new location is bright and attractive. We are so lucky to have such a terrific deli in Marblehead.

I've worked in several delis, a couple of them being very good. Evan's could possibly be the best in New England! Nice brisket and a great variety of home made knishes! I'm drooling now! LOL Worth a long trip! Have something shipped overnight! They're next door to the post office! Thanks, Evan!

I had a Reuben sandwich take out the other day. It was melt-in-your mouth great! And i could barely eat the entire thing. But I had to. My daughter had the Chicken Fingers and French Fries. She is 13, and very particular about her chicken fingers. Evan's is by far her favorite! No complaints at all!!

Excellent deli and Evan is a great host. Perfect eating experience. Not perfect? GOOGLE MAPS took me to location from three years ago, while posting correct address in deli's description. Google, why you want to punish seekers of deli? Why?

This is why you would have had to travel to NYC to get deli, except, now it's right in your own back yard. Evan's Deli is a teal jewel located in Marblehead, MA. I had a corned beef sandwich w/ spicy brown mustard on an onion roll and it was SOOOO good!! Piled high with lean, tender corned beef; what a treat. Do yourself a favor; go!!!!

This place is one of my absolute favorites, I can’t believe I waited this long to leave a review! Delicious, homey NY style deli (a rarity these days) with all the classics. In the mood for food? Do yourselves a favor and go!

A great Jewish deli love the pastrami. if your Hungry get the New Yorker lots of meat and so good. This is my stop on my way home from Marblehead.
