This is an immaculate business run by wonderful people. They take the time to source and produce incredibly high quality things. They are creative and unique there are not many businesses in the world with a vibe like what Warren and Lisa have cultivated especially in a butcher shop. If you can visit this place and get a sandwich and some fresh cuts of meat I highly recommend you do.

I came for the roast beef sandwich but that's only offered on Saturdays. So I went with the Italian sandwich instead. Hands down the best sandwich I've ever had. I'll be back for the beef. Also there take home meat selection is primo.

Best of the North Shore doesn’t go far enough to describe this amazing family-run business. One of my happy places.

My wife and I would make the pilgrimage to Newburyport once in a blue moon for their beefs (undisputed best north shore beef I’ve ever had). We were stoked when Warren and Lisa moved the business less than ten minutes down the road. Hard to resist going multiple times per week 😎

Whether it’s their sausages, meats, or never-miss daily served sandwiches (Italian + turkey bacon ranch are my faves), or one of their other-worldly daily specials that smash the boundaries of your palate, time and space - it’s always 10/10. There’s nothing like drinking a heady beer while you pick out your meat to BBQ for the weekend.

I can’t recommend this spot enough. Warren and Lisa have created an incredibly special business and they & their team bring the best vibes daily!

Never disappoints. Their quality and service is top notch. You can feel/see the passion and high integrity so strongly when in the shop. Sandwich of the day is always so tasty, creative and exciting. Their roast beef sandwiches on Saturdays are a treat to indulge in.

It's rare to find a business that's so unbelievably passionate about their craft. Their daily sandwiches are immensely creative and delicious. Their Saturday roast beef sandwiches are so popular that they have a line out the door every week - and it's well worth the wait. When asked why they don't make them every day, they respond that they're a whole animal butcher and it's not sustainable to source that much of one cut of an animal.

More importantly, their butchers are solidly knowledgeable and excited to give you exactly what you're looking for, or give you advice if you don't know what that is yet. On one visit we asked if they had any pig jowl and the butcher brought out an entire head and carved the jowl out for us. On another visit we asked for jowl again, but they had the jowl curing in the case to make guanciale! So we got some jowl bacon they had in the case instead and we were not disappointed.

Their dry aged steaks are gorgeous and totally worth coming back for - we asked about them and were told they weren't ready yet and to come back in a month. We went back a month later and they cut us a mouth-watering bone-in rib eye to our specified thickness and fat content (we had a choice of the leaner or fattier end). After cutting it open, the butcher held it up for the rest of the staff to gaze upon its glory.

In a world where most "butcher" shops don't sell much more than marinated steak tips wrapped in cellophane, this place stands out as a shining beacon in the crowd. It's not cheap, but worth every penny for the quality, as well as supporting a small business focused on sustainability.

Definitely a great place to come to to get your fix of flavored sausages hands down best place to go to. Drove all the way from Long Island New York. Definitely worth the trip

Phenomenal. This was about the 10th time I’ve been to modern butcher and their sandwiches are simply next level amazing. Their beefs on Saturdays are so top tier and their daily special sandwiches are sooo good. Also love their meats for the grill. Highly recommend!

The best butcher on the northshore or anywhere for that matter!!! Amazing family run business with the best selection and loveliest staff. We are such big fans can’t recommend them enough. Their sausages, Denver steaks and Korean bbq ribs are some of our absolute favourites but tbh they do not miss. We love you MB! NEVER CHANGE❤

I only can say amazing things about Modern Butcher. I get why the lines are so long on a Saturday are. Their sandwiches are masterpieces and one is better than the next. Their prepared foods are fresh and ready to go. The Butcher shop has a top quality section of meats of whatever you want. The owners Warren and Lisa are very accommodating and friendly. Warren picked my sandwiches for me. He always switches up the menu. Best selection of Sausages too. Their breakfast one looks delicious. I will be back.

The roast beef sandwich they have on Saturdays is incredible and what people talk about most but honestly every daily special sandwich and all the meats, especially the sausages, are 10/10. Everyone should use modern as their regular butcher shop.

Had the chicken parm sausages and they are amazing! I cannot wait to try different flavors. The staff was so friendly and informative. I ask what the best way to prepare the sausage was since I didn’t want to ruin them and they took the time to explain the best cooking method and best way to enjoy!

Amazing experience!! Their sandwiches can't be beat! The truffle chips and speck are incredible! Great selection of craft beers and all kinds of other goodies inside. Love the unique and delicious craft sausages!

Everything we tried was AMAZING!! Warren & Lisa were terrific and assisted us with our entire order which consisted of the daily Sandwich of Adobe rubbed Chicken w/ chorizo, cheese, Mexican slaw and chili oil..WOW. Added truffle chips with parmesan cheese and Speck as a snack coupled with a Down East Cider (Peach&Mango). Next we hit the butcher shop for Iberico lardo and custom sausages, what a day. We will definitely be back!

Great meats, even better people.

Whether it’s a grabbing pack of sausages for dinner during the week, stopping in for a sandwich for lunch, or scarfing down the best roast beef I’ve ever had, Modern Butcher is the absolute greatest.

I wish I could give this place 10 stars.

Sandwich of the day is fire everyday. If they have marrow burgers drop everything and buy them and grill them. Unbelievable. Great sausages too. Can't go wrong at Modern!

Amazing quality meats and everything to prepare them. Warren and Lisa and everyone else is beyond knowledgeable and helpful. Locally sourced, eat well, eat healthy. If you eat meat, but it here.

Most incredible fried mortadella sandwich. Others looked great too. Will have to try their highly touted 3 way some Saturday. This is a real butcher shop.

Quite possibly the best sandwich I have ever had

Thank you Modern Butcher for moving somewhat close to me! I'm in Gloucester and never quite made it to Newburyport. Always in search of great meat, poultry and gourmet provisions, etc.

Wow, our family was so impressed with our 1st visit last Sunday. Staff was super friendly, place hopping and the bacon cheeseburgers were the BEST ever, the 3 types of sausages we got were so flavorful and the steak tips just melted in your mouth!

Heading back up tomorrow to stock up for the weekend and will try some of the aged steaks as well as chicken and of course more of what I got last week!!! Thanks for making the bacon-cheeseburger sliders, they were awesome and our dog LOVED his smokey bone too!

PS: Heard your sandwiches are out of this world! Keep up the great work, it's awesome to see people PASSIONATE about what they do, and no doubt your are!
