We purchased a propane fireplace in April. After numerous unsuccessful attempts to work with the manufacturer and marketer, I tried several local companies to see if they could get the igniter to work. No one was interested. At last, I reached MaryAnn at RFS. Bottom line: Tyler and Kevin figured out what the problem was, ordered and installed a new part. After the propane was connected, Kevin even returned to program the remote control. Works perfectly, nearly 6 months after we bought it! Highly recommend this company.

Refiners Fire Service fixed our fireplace after we used two other companies. The other two couldn’t do the job. They also made our dog happy!

My wife and I purchased a wood stove that needed to be installed. We reached out to Kevin at Refiners Fire Services to help us with the install since the company that sold us the stove failed to provide the service. Kevin came and gave us a professional and reasonable bid compared to other contractors. Kevin and his helper Tyler came out on the day they stated they would. Tyler was very friendly and professional during the install. He did a fantastic job installing our wood stove for us and cleaned up after himself. We are very pleased with the service and workmanship by Refiners Fire Services. We highly recommend their service and will definitely use them again.

Gas fireplace repair. I had called 5 other companies.They each told me that the part was no longer made for my 1992 Regency gas fireplace. They said the only solution was to purchase a new gas fireplace.
I kept calling and sending emails and photos to companies. I said I know the parts can be found in the back of a warehouse, in a service truck, or someone could just make a part, or find an aftermarket part.
The woman at answering the phone at Refiners assured me that Kevin could make my fireplace work. Sure enough, in less than 1/2 hour my pilot light was on and the flame was in the spreader.
No parts were needed. Kevin assured me that each part could be purchased after market from Mexico and China, WHEN I needed one.
Please, stand your ground. Be like me. Have your appliances repaired. You do not need to purchase new.

Awesome company from start to finish. They do a great job servicing my gas fireplace every year and they will come out to fix it for free (not including parts) if anything breaks for the entire cold season. Kevin is an expert and fun to talk to as well!

Wonderful experience! Margaret scheduled my appointment and was super friendly and helpful! They managed get to my fireplace repair/cleaning faster (and cheaper) than the other 2 places I called. I appreciated being sent a confirmation email with picture of my technician, and Kevin himself was awesome. He didn't mind talking me thru what he was doing (I like to be an informed home owner), he was thorough, clean and just overall great-so refreshing!

Kevin was fantastic. He was very knowledgeable and he did everything he possibly could to get our gas fireplace working. I would recommend him/Refiners Fire Services to anyone needing inspection, repair, or cleaning of their gas fireplace. I called a LOT of places before Refiners. Everywhere I called cost more money than Refiners and they all would have taken longer to come out and help me. You couldn't ask for better availability, service, or price. This is easily the best value I could find in the Portland Metro area.

Couldn't be happier. Very through front in prep. After the appointment was set, I received a very detailed email of what to expect, how to prep, phone numbers, service tech etc. On time, confirmation calls, returned calls, and service work. I was so happy with all aspects of the service. btw, Kevin used floor protection! That is reason enough to call them!

Responsive, knowledgeable & prompt. We purchased a building with 6 gas fireplaces and Kevin adjusted them all, troubleshooted, safety checked. Taught me a lot about our system. Very reasonable and friendly also office staff. Thank you, you are our go-to company.

Kevin was great! Very knowledgeable and courteous. He cleaned the fire place and showed me how to use it. He even cleaned the other fire place and showed me how to use it even though he was just there for the one.

Not super pleased with how everything turned out with this company.

I had them out in early 2023 because my fireplace wouldn’t turn on. They sent someone out who “fixed” it but then it stopped working about an hour later and he couldn’t figure out how to get the fan going and said I needed to call a mechanic for that. I called them back and they scheduled to come out later that week to fix it. They blamed it on the person being a new employee and then said they would send the owner out to fix (which he did both the pilot light and fan). It was $275 just for them to come out and $80 for the parts (Thermocouple) to be replaced, and somehow the top log got broken in the process. They were super busy and was fixed it was March and I no longer needed the fireplace as frequent. I started using it again in September and around the third time using it, it stopped working yet again. I called them up and they said because there was 6 months of elapsed time between when they fixed it and now, I would have to pay the $275 diagnostic fee all over again. I felt uncomfortable due to already having it fixed twice and now it stopped working after only a couple uses.

I called up a new company (Central Air Inc.) who just finished up and they said the reason it went out was because there was a bad seal all around the pilot light. It also only cost $160 for them to come out AND they have a one year time limit to call them up if anything happens again.

Really just disappointed that the wait time was so long, first technician couldn’t fix the fan and said I’d need to hire a mechanic (even though that description is in their “job duties” as a fireplace technician, second technician (or maybe the first) broke the top log which isn’t super apparent but is still not how it was before their work started, and then them wanting to charge me again after it stopped working only a couple times after turning it on.

I submitted a request for BBQ grill deep cleaning on angies list and was contacted by refiners. Looking at their website it did not look like this was a service they offered, so I emailed back to confirm that this was something they offered. After being told indeed that it is something they do I went ahead and scheduled an appointment. I should have gone with my gut feeling, the unit was cleaned but not thoroughly, the stainless steel surfaces were not even wiped down, anything outside of the grate and directly underneath it was not touched. At 225$ I was expecting a cleaning that would have been perhaps 2 hours, but not even 1 hour was spent in the cleaning processes. Honestly it looks like this job was too low level for the provider, I wish they would have just not accepted the job.

Hesitant to write this as my expectations may be too high. I just want other customers and this company to be aware of my experience. We aren't having any problems with our gas fireplace. This was just a maintenance appointment. First of all, I had to ask the tech to put his mask on. And, he didn't offer to put booties over his shoes. Second, I didn't get any advice like other reviewers mention on how to clean, (until I asked) maintain the fireplace etc. Third, the odor of the product he used to clean the glass has lingered in my house even with windows open. Fourth, the glass isn't even fully clean. I would have asked him to try to get the glass cleaner but I didn't want anymore fumes in the house from whatever he was using. In his defense, it was dirty. We don't clean it. And, lastly, I thought he would clean out the bottom area of all dust but it's still very dirty. He was here less than 20 minutes, and I paid $195. In my experience with other services, we would at least get SOME info, like, "this is what I looked at", "this is what I did", and maybe even a, "this is what you can do to keep it running efficiently." I just dont feel like there was enough value in this service.
