Heard of Steve from my mom, told him my price point and ideal age of car and he found me a really good car for $4,200. He made sure I knew that the car needed new tires soon and recommended a place for me to get them.

Very satisfied. Bought 2 Dodge Grand Caravans. Looking to buy again today for someone else.

Not a great experience. Craigslist seller. Purchased a vehicle from him that he purchased at auction. Vehicle had some miles on it (100kish) and was over a decade old but overall in good shape body wise. Allegedly he had someone fix up a few major issues with the vehicle. Trouble is that the issues he had fixed there were spotty records for, and he couldn't even produce who it was that made the repairs. For example the timing belt 'sticker' showing milage was a post it note with tape. We realized later that he was probably the one making the repairs which he is not legally allowed to do in the town or as just a sort of 'handy man' dealer. This is likely why he was so evasive about repairs even though he personally ordered and had receipts for the part themselves. I guess they just got themselves into the vehicle by some sort of fairy dealer magic. Were desperate so we bought it anyways and the test drive seemed to go ok but that was just the beginning.

Within a week of the sale, maintenance light went off; about a half dozen codes triggered verified at two mechanics. An accessory belt also began screeching badly which was hidden by a warm start vs a cold start. The rear sub was completely blown and hidden by adjustments to the audio front/rear. The car did not pass inspection either. When I brought the issues to Steve he denied them, got defensive and confrontational and accused me.

Some of the issues had to be fixed immediately and we absolutely needed the car. Steve took advantage of this and did almost nothing. He took the car in, but even though one of the major issues was an improperly installed and off timing belt, he cleaned put a valve, gave me $200 for the other costs (not nearly enough) and said to test it out again. At this point with our lives and desperation we just didn't have time to be out a car and drive to meet him some distance away to no avail. He obviously was making things difficult just to drag things along.

An absolutely irresponsible dealer who I am amazed has a state license. If you see one of his posting steer clear.

This guy is definitely a swindling car salesman. Knows more than you and will use that to cover up problems or do hack repairs
