I highly recommend a reservation, there's nowhere to wait, because people will reserve places at the bar . We went here to celebrate my birthday 🎂! The restaurant is great! Exposed brick walls, tum ceilings, soft lighting but you can still see the menu lol
Our waitress was lovely! Friendly & helpful. The food was outstanding!! AND if it happens to be your birthday & you mention it to them, dessert is free for that person!

Everything about my experience was exceptional. We were served by Paul whom delighted us with suggestions on Appetizer & Main Course. His advisement was spot on and historic as we gained knowledge of our chefs history and the menu.

The best Medium Rare Steak on the North shore. It was absolute perfection. Additionally the drinks The Pain Killer (in photo) & Bourbon Smash were crafted in a way that guarantees constitent quality and sobriety everytime.

The chocolate cake was creative and insanely good... Savory like I wanted to live in this bowl. Its like a big Warm caramello exploded on vanilla ice cream and cake. 😀😀😀😀😀👍

We shall no longer call it the "New Barrel House" they have made thier own mark on cabot st! The apps are perfect for sharing, drinks are great, and entrees are masterfully prepared. Chef rocks and be sure to ask for Hannah (server) her understanding & excitement about the food is contagious and she was spot on with every suggestion!

The best bar and kitchen in Beverly used to be Barrel House. Then they changed it to Ellis square and my wife and I really thought it went down hill. The old head bartender was kind of awkward and the food wasn't what barrel houses were so we stopped going. Over the last year or so we've been going back. The new staff and new bartenders are awesome. The kitchen is pretty good. So we are back to being semi regulars.

Our experience was wonderful. My partner and I both got the Crispy Pork Belly and it may have been one of the best meals I have ever had. We got the New Potatoes as a side and they were so perfectly cooked they tasted like mashed potatoes. Lastly, we got the Toffee Pudding and it was exactly how Toffee Pudding should taste in my opinion. Tie that together with very good service and kind workers, and you have yourself a wonderful dining experience!

Had a great experience tonight. Without reservations we were still able to catch seats at the window. Cocktails were on point. We had an espresso martini and an old fashioned. Perfection! We shared a multigrain salad, flat bread and short ribs. Each were flavorful and plentiful.
If we lived here, we'd be regulars.

An excellent meal on all levels. The bread homemade and is just extraordinary. Would go back just for that! The potato croquettes, the burger, the mussels -- all wonderful. We went all out trying so many things and each fantastic. Even the cocktail was incredible. And the bartender, Brandon, was a delight. Only complaint at all: it is unacceptable to serve frozen fries. This has become a restaurant trend over the last few years and it's just not okay, especially as prices have increased. Other than that, I wholeheartedly tell you to go and eat here immediately.

I love Ellis square and it was great to sit at the bar. The cocktails were delicious and the bartender even made one special for me. The duck confit appetizer was DELICIOUS! we didn’t have enough room to finish our entrees but they were also very good. I had the house made fettuccine and my husband had the burger. I’m picky about burgers and I tried his, and it was very good!

We also got some wine which was pretty good!

I just wish they saved some bar seats for walk ins because if love you pop in without needing a reservation. I also wish they had a larger wine list. Though they do have a reserve list for liquor.

Oh man, I first went to Ellis Square pre-pandemic and it was phenomenal. Told my friends & brought my family. Everyone loved it and was thrilled to have such a high quality option (FINALLY) on the north shore. Fast forward a few years and I was overjoyed to find that ESq made it through the pandemic, and popped in with my partner for dinner. It was just excellent. We sat at the bar and had a wonderful conversation with our tender, and the food was just as good, if not better than it had been when I’d visited in 2019. It was so good that I brought my parents there for dinner again a few days later and they agreed that everything was top notch. I ‘d had the crispy pork belly with gnocchi on my first return trip, and on the second had the ricotta gnudi. I was also fortunate enough to get to sample the steak frites, seared scallops, polenta and steak tartare; everything was delicious. So, so so happy to have such a high-caliber establishment in our neighborhood and very excited to become a regular.

My friends and I tried this place for one of our regular re connect dinners. The space is very cozy and pleasant. We loved the exposed brick interiors and the soft lighting. The service was courteous and prompt. It’s a limited menu which is always my preference in restaurants, but I still spotted options for varied dietary needs once you read the ingredients. We tried the spice duck breast on a bed of orzo, mushrooms and Brussels sprouts. It was delicious! Duck cooked to perfection and the whole dish packed with flavor. My friend really enjoyed the bouillabaisse. I didn’t try it but it looked fantastic. For dessert we shared the chocolate crème brûlée. It was good, I personally prefer the traditional but seeing innovation is alway refreshing. For a final touch, I tried the little Giuseppe cocktail and Oh My! that was absolutely delicious. I recommend giving this spot a try! We did not regret it!

Locals of Beverly here - we’ve been to Ellis a bunch. Always a great experience. Fantastic food, high quality. Arancini is awesome. Fresh oysters, steak tartare, chicken breast, and flat iron steak are all delicious. Even their simple salad is seasoned perfectly. They also have great craft cocktails with FRESH ingredients! Not pre-made. It’s our favorite date night spot. Quality customer service is always appreciated as well!

Wonderful atmosphere good Food. Awesome service. Even the owner came out to say Hi. I recommend this place to everyone.

Chef has changed since opening but has really hit his stride - incredible bar never missed a bit and food is now fabulous again too. Excellent service and ambience. Still so happy to have this be in my neighborhood.

This place is the best. Food is incredible (chef used to be at Boston's excellent Grill 23), bar program is hands down the best in Beverly and would compete handily in Camberville, service is top notch, ambience elegant and chill. Just go!

First off it was a busy Saturday and we got quick setting at the bar instead of waiting an hour for the dining area. This turn out to be a win for us! The bartender Brandon was fantastic, entertaining conversation and a joy just to watch make drinks. His service was top notch and our meals were great. Will return again

Ate here tonight with my wife before a show at The Cabot. In short, it was a great experience and I'd recommend it to anyone. It was busy (Sat night) and we ate at the bar. There was crowd noise, but there was no problem holding a conversation.

Service was prompt and very helpful (bartenders were our servers). Made a great daiquiri (off their cocktail menu) and it was served with a large ice cube. A great start.

The menu offered about 7 appetizers, 4 pastas, and 6 entrees. There were also several options for wines by the glass and bottle. It’s not a huge menu, but there’s options for everyone. Plus I think it's better to do a few things well rather than lots of mediocre things.

To start, we shared the oysters, which were very fresh and delicious. My wife ordered the Faroe Island salmon and I had the tenderloin. My wife is an expert in making grilled salmon at home and rarely orders it at restaurants because it doesn't usually measure up. This dish was outstanding and she loved it. My steak was a very generous portion and was cooked to perfection (medium rare). The Bernaise sauce was very well balanced and the meat was perfectly sauced (just the right amount and not drowning in it). The broccolini was also cooked expertly, with just a little "crunch".

Overall the meals were excellent and the drinks were very well done. All delivered with great service by friendly, helpful servers (busy bartenders in this case).

We will definitely be back.

Had dinner last night NYE with a few friends. First time for all of us. Matt our server was very attentive as were the other staff members. Not your average menu. Food was absolutely delicious. The trout was yummy. Drinks were on spot.

We spent a long day in Salem...mostly waiting in lines but so much fun. Ellis Square Social was the perfect place to go for dinner. The food was amazing, our server was wonderful and we had a great end to an already awesome day!

Food was amazing! Service was quick friendly and helpful. Menu was a bit more on the "high end" side which my bf learned after accidently ordering after ordering beef Tartare...he had no idea what it was! Lol but amazing restaurant just more for a fancy night

I can't tell you how happy I am to see this place back up and running. This was a real proper changing of the guard and Ellis Square Social is fantastic. I went with a good friend of mine who is a chef and we both just went off into cloud nine. The wait staff are honest and gave wonderful recommendations to the dishes we looked at, the dishes were excellent and the drinks are well crafted from the bar. The atmosphere here is perfect for any occasion and has a really nice speak-easy vibe overall. Looking forward to visiting Ellis Square Social for many more events to come.

They have a well-stocked bar, very creative drink menu, and incredibly knowledgeable bartenders. Their food is high quality, and is ranked among the best on the North Shore. The restaurant has a great atmosphere with Edison bulbs and soft, warm lighting.
