This location on Boston st is not the same as the one downtown - it is confusing because some folks have uploaded pictures of the center st one by mistake. This location has the yummy bread, coffee, and pastries but no seating, the hours are different, and no hot food options like the paninis, sandwiches, etc. Parking is much easier. Come here if you want to buy the bread, go to the other location if you want the cafe experience and hang out.

Favorite bakery in the area. I always try to visit a few times when I’m in town. Delicious for lunch and sweet/savory treats. The staff are always very friendly, too!

I come here almost daily. Cold brew is awesome, I am also a big fan of their latte on cooler days. The pastry selection is excellent, and I like they keep rotating in interesting varieties of scones. There are some awesome folks working here - with very rare exception they are pleasant to talk to & quick to help.

This place has the best cheese danish I've ever eaten in my life! Also love the scones - so many great flavors! Lots of unique items and some classic pastries too, as well as breads and coffee, tea, lattes, etc. Great stop for breakfast on my way to work.

Larger than their downtown Salem location but same goodies. Like that they separated the coffee station. Good amount of parking.

Many places in CA are adding this fee for workers. They’ve done it for years. The cost of living there was always very high. The North Shore is reaching those levels too. I like to support companies that value workers and taste great too

Amazing bread. My newest go to place. French Bread baguettes are the best. Chocolate croissants amazing. Altogether way better than anything at any supermarket. The new 139 Boston St location in Salem MA is great because it has PARKING.

Went here last weekend and the coffee tasted great! The bakery looked good too, but we weren't there to try the baked goods. I have heard from fellow Peabody residents that the baked goods are great.

Two suggestions for management/owner though, and they don't change my opinion on the place because it was great!
When we went for our first time, it was a bit confusing on where to order since there is a coffee counter and a separate baked goods counter. A sign for "order here" would be very beneficial. We stood in the center of the shop for a good 3 minutes before making the determination that there is no cash register at the coffee counter.
The other suggestion... Take down names or give order numbers for the coffee orders. After we ordered our coffee, we sat down at the window to wait for them to be ready. A person came in 5 minutes after we ordered and sat at the coffee bar... The barista put down our "to-go" coffees in front of the guy at the bar instead of saying a name or order number... he just assumed it was the guy sitting at the coffee bar, even though that guy had just showed up.

Other than the two confusions, this place is great! We will definitely be back!

After outgrowing its original location on Central Street in Salem, A&J King opened a new, flagship location on Boston Street in Salem. Both locations offer wonderful baked goods, with everything made on the premises. The original Central Street location is downtown and easily accessible by foot from other popular tourist museums, restaurants, bars, and so on, and parking for that location is either metered street parking or in a nearby garage. The Boston Street location is in a more suburban setting with its own, free parking immediately outside the building.

Despite going to A&J King many times, I've never explored parts of their menu such as their sandwiches. Rather, I've always gone for the breads and desserts, and I've never been disappointed with what I've bought there. The owners, Andy & Jackie King, are serious bakers who wrote their own book about artisan baking (Baking by Hand, 2013), and their products are from the finest baking traditions of Europe and America. The products do not contain preservatives so don't expect the baked goods to last for more than a few days unfrozen. For the best selection, go earlier in the day. As closing time approaches, the pickings can get slim at busy times like weekends and holidays and during Salem's peak tourist season of the summer and October.

Great staff, really good pastries and baked goods, very clean and organized. Was very busy when we arrived, but the line moved quickly. The staff didn't seem overwhelmed, and took care with each customer. Looks like I've found a new breakfast spot!

It was a rough day, so my wife and I stopped for some coffee and pastries.

We had been wanting to try this bakery, and we were glad we did. There was this pesto, grape tomato, and I think feta cheese danish that was wicked good. I prefer savory over sweet. My wife got un pain au chocolat, she really enjoyed it and gave me a piece (yeah, pretty freakin awesome!) to try.

The coffee my wife got was a flavorful fall-flavored coffee that reminded me of grandma's. I forget the name and will update on my next visit. It being a warm day, the iced mocha cappuccino was the perfect option.

They are such a nice company. We had trouble with picking up an online order today. They were apoplectic about it not being able to be found. (we had receipts!) They made it right. Chalked it up to growing pains.

But they are more than nice, they are DELICIOUS!!!

This is their new place..Sam and Skyler are great people who take care of you upon your arrival...There are also a few other gals, but unfortunately I have not met them as yet, but they too, are great..The walnut and olive loaves are fantastic....I slice the bread, place a little olive oil on both sides and pan fry it..hmmm so good...Also, their pastries are worth it....

Come here for your “PSL”!!! They make their own pumpkin syrup & it’s Amazing (it’s not overly sweet, probably way less preservatives & chemicals). Friendly staff too is a bonus!

Probably one of the best bakeries around. Their new location isn't much larger than the original but the coffee bar is fun and had all the same great selections!
