Great attraction for kids and adults. Scenic views a plenty, but train cars are also a vintage visual treat. Staff and professional and friendly, adding to the authentic train experience. Train cars are clean and well kept. Food and restrooms are available on the train. Trip to Attitash and back is perfect length for young children. Tunnel and bridge crossings keep it interesting and you’re back at the station before even one “are we there yet?”.

Travellers, this is a lovely and charming ride out of North Conway. It is a family friendly excursion that everyone should enjoy. We had tickets for the second floor sky dome which made the ride extremely enjoyable because the views from the sky dome are fantastic. The guide was very informative and he was interesting. There are two snack cars on the train for easy convenience. Sit back and enjoy ride. Check it out. We recommend.

TLDR - family fun

On a beautiful February day, we stopped by and met a couple of the engineers, Greg and Jeff, and were treated to a fabulous tour of the train yard, the turntable and shop, and the Pullman car. We heard some history, shared some stories and laughs, and spent some quality time soaking it all in. We really appreciated the time, and now I can hardly wait to actually take a train ride! Thanks & see you soon =)♡

Beautiful ride on the Mountaineer. My boyfriend and I forgot to order lunches, but the train had brought a few extras for those who forgot, as well as a nice snack bar. That was very appreciated. It’s unfortunate to read some of the reviews here.. it is an old fashioned train, you’re paying for the experience of being on a historic train! I’m not sure what others expected, but I appreciate the historic integrity that this train has, as well as the work put in that keeps it running. The views were spectacular and it was cool that they switch the side of the train you sit on to ensure you see views. The staff was very nice, and it was overall a great experience . Hopefully coming back soon to try the dome seating!

My family and I did the Santa Holiday Express. The ride is scenic along New Hampshire farmland and wildernesss. Make sure you arrive 30-45 minutes early on Thanksgiving weekend to not feel rushed. Our 1:00 PM train was fairly full. Be ready to wait about an hour to take a photo with Santa Claus when the train stops at the end of the line before returning back to the station. Cookies and hot chocolate were served while visiting Santa. Some snow was still on the ground so it kept my kids busy while waiting. We’d come back again!

We did the short 1 hr ride as it was my 4yr Olds 1st ride. It was perfect!!! Staff was great, we sat coach, and my son loved every minute!!!! We even got to see some deer in a field which was the highlight of his ride as well as seeing the engine car go past us to pull us back! Can't wait to try the longer trip next time !!!

I love this railway! Nice long track, engine sheds with a TURNTABLE and an operating steam locomotive. AND they are beginning to work on the restoration to service of another steam locomotive - a really big one! The only thing I can criticise is the web site. I would like to see a section with details of all their rolling stock, including history and if it's in service, under restoration etc. live web cams would also be nice. Take a look at www.iwsteamrailway.co.uk to get an idea of what I mean.
Oh, one more thing, we were able to take our small dog in the train, and also in the gift shop.

Definitely a recommended visit!

I've ridden all all three of the usual trains that Conway Scenic RR offers, the Conway Valley Train, Sawyer River Train, and the Mountaineer. All trains have a very interesting history to tell, whether it be from the vintage equipment, the scenery, or the stories told by the conductor that narrates most of the trip. Conway Scenic is advertised as taking a train back in time, and it it exceeds that expectation. There are options available for all price points and is a great way to spend a trip to North Conway. Even though tickets can be bought at kiosks on site, to skip some of the line I recommend buying them online, which can easily be done from their website. Besides the trains mentioned above they also run many seasonal and/or special event services.

It was beautiful. We saw amazing fall foliage along the way. There was clear view of the white mountains with other ones. Clouds sitting on the mountains. When they stopped the train ,they asked us to switch seats with the people who got the other side view so that while on the way back we could enjoy the other view as well. I liked right side view the best😊

For the most amazing views of fall foliage and the mountains in NH around Conway, I would highly recommend folks take this very scenic and relaxing railroad route. I went on the longer 5 hour ride but the views are unbeatable. There is also a narration by the conductor over the speaker about history of the rail line and facts about NH. Sit on the right side closest to the station for the best views.

Loved the scenic railway train! My granddaughter loved it! First time riding a train and perfect length, one hour. Friendly staff and clean train. We paid for first class. So worth it. Spacious seats and plenty of room.

Beautiful day. Took a train ride. Was a beautiful day but cool. The only disappointment we had was the foliage wasn't as good as in previous years. No color. Otherwise; a beautiful sunny day. A little breezy.

If you Visit Conway this is a must do!! Such an awesome experience with the family and the kids absolutely loved it! The views were spectacular. We did the Crawford Notch ride to the top. They have food and drinks to buy on the train they only accept cash. Overall, great food experience for the family.

What an amazing time visiting on a serendipitous encounter. Literally just stumbled on this incredible place while driving thru. Wish I had known about it before to experience the scenic trains. As a train fan though plenty of time was spent gawking at all the vintage trains and seeing this small station bustling with activity. Staff were incredibly friendly and took the time to explain some of the history. Definitely need to come back to get the full experience.

Riding this train was a bucket list item for me! I grew up an hour south and we vacationed in the area many times over the years. I never got to ride it as a kid so it was extra special for me 5 decades later! We rode up into Crawford Notch and stopped for a few minutes. The views are breathtaking approaching the Notch including the multiple waterfalls in the East side and below Mount Webster. We rolled into Fabyans (Bretton Woods) for a glimpse of the smallest, most dangerous mountain in the world! The trip back down through the Notch and all the way back to North Conway was just beautiful! The price to ride coach was very well worth it.

The staff on board was friendly and helpful. I even got to chat for a moment with our Engineer, Mark. I've got to mention the snack bar. I can't remember the sweet lady's name but I ordered a hot dog but it wasn't ready. She came to my seat to notify me it was ready!

Everyone should ride this train!

We took the mountaineer train ride and it was approximately 4+ hours ride. Great views and you get to get off the train for about 45mins once you reach up the mountain to take pictures. Keep in mind that you’re able to drive via car to the destination but the train offers a route that give you views that driving will not have access to. We almost missed the train as there were a farmers market that Saturday and parking was hard to find. Regardless, beautiful train ride!
Advice: bring your own drinks and food or you’ll pay a lot of money to buy on train.

We definitely enjoyed the experience. I don't see the sense in riding in any other cars than the hobo cars unless you have physical disabilities or other health issues in order to feel and experience the old way of train travel! We did ride the farthest rear car as the first cars were noisy with adolescents.

What a great day! Got to North Conway early to pick up the tickets and enjoy some time walking through town.
We took The Mountaineer and were seated in First Class. (Only because I needed to sit on cushioned seats) The train ride was terrific! Expertly narrated throughout the day. Beautiful scenery. Breath taking.
We got the box lunches. Order in advance. It was worth it to avoid the long lines at the snack bar.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We had a blast on the train! We got to seat on the back of the train, “on the patio” and got to wave a every one waiting at stop signs! If the weather permits it, you can pay $3 p/p and seat back there. Limited to 4 people only. We did the 1 hour ride and it was great!

The family got together for a short getaway and decided to try the Saco River tour, about 2.5hrs long. I attached some random pictures from the ride. Comfortable ride and definitely the perfect thing to do especially on a rainy day like we had.
