John Rankin and his family helped guide over 2000 slaves to freedom. The story of their amazing courage, resistance against the haters, and resilience, is told in great detail by the extremely knowledgeable tour guides. Everyone should know this history!

My husband and I just left after touring. We were expecting it to be interesting but Sarah the tour guide made it spectacular. She is very knowledgeable, personable and made the experience super cool!! Highly recommend. If we could give more stars we would. 😊

The views are breathtakingly beautiful. Even more awesome, it is enlightening history. The Rankin house was a key stop on the Underground Railroad. I arrived after hours and the home was closed but the grounds, the 100 steps to freedom, and the Underground Railroad trail was still accessible. I walked the steps and the trail. A humbling experience.

We had a fascinating visit to the home of one of the earliest conductors on the Underground Railroad! The docents are well versed and passionate about educating visitors about the work of John Rankin and his family as they helped escaped enslaved people make the journey to freedom.

While it may not appear like the Abolitionist Minister’s farm 150 years ago, it is nice to visit and see over the Ohio River into Kentucky. To imagine what it was like to see the candle burning in his window and know it was safe to cross over. History and the Underground Railroad.

This is my 2nd visit to Rankin House. My first was nearly 20 years ago and the improvements they've made are astounding. They have brought the house back closer to its original look. They've also added a visitor center and parking lot which we're not there 20 years ago. It's an incredible part of history and a testament to mankind's quest for freedom and two brotherly love.

My husband and I have been a lot. This time just hairbrush to be Juneteenth weekend, we took my mother in law who was shocked she had never heard of John Rankin or Ripley,Oh. Her walking to the steps was something, sad she couldn't tour inside but we'll take her back.

The tour guide is passionate about the local history, brilliant and well-spoken. He bought the Rankin family history to vivid life. The house and grounds are lovingly well preserved, the gift shop has a nice selection of books and other gifts... This wasn't just a museum visit for me. It was a pilgrimage and I was not disappointed. On the contrary, the beauty of the passion I found there confirmed mine own and I am forever grateful.
