Dr. M. Dathan Chesnut, MD

My name is Habakkuk Day Powell. I've been a patient of Dr. Chestnut for 10 years. I am very pleased to have him, don't want another. I can text any concerns, he gets right back to me. Never had this before. Janet and staff are on point. He's like having a good husband. Lol. I love my doctor.

I sought an MDVIP physician because I had been diagnosed with sinus cancer and then hit at a traffic light leaving me with severe injuries. I felt I needed 24 contact with a physician given my surgeries and medications. Dr Chesnut has served my needs far beyond my expectations. He has visited me in hospital, called me in hospital after surgeries and followed up immediately with surgeons and anesthesia teams, and he calls periodically just to check on me. He treats me like family and has saved my life more than once.

Early on, I found myself calling him in the middle of the night with very high blood pressure. The MDVIP fee paid for itself many times over the first year because I did not need an ambulance nor go to the hospital and sit for hours. I received better care, through him, at home. Into the second year, I was getting much better and regular visits to his office, his guidance and care for me lifted my health tremendously. In my third year additional surgeries were required. The contacts he has, the referrals he made, were important. When they replaced my knee from the accident, he called me in recovery, had reviewed the surgery notes and spoken to all my doctors. I could not have imagined a better physician, more caring, more knowledgeable, more involved for my life and more effective at bringing me back from the brink of death to a good active and healthy life.

His office staff and nurses are incredible. Other doctors schedule multiple people at one time and I have waited over 2 1/2 hours more than once, but not Dr. Chesnut. I don’t think I have ever waited 3 minutes. His staff answers the phone on the first ring. They are very knowledgeable, caring, and efficient at all they do. Shots and blood draws do not hurt. One can tell by being in the room that they are a loving family, team of employees who enjoy what they do for a living and enjoy working with Dr Chesnut.

MDVIP has been the perfect investment for my family. Dr Chesnut is far beyond expectation and the very best physician one could imagine. I don’t say these things lightly. I am older and I have had my share of unfortunate experiences with health. Through those experiences, I have had many other physicians and lived near great medical centers. No physician has come close to Dr Chesnut and no service has returned investment better than MDVIP. Good health affects our thinking, comfort and therefore our daily lives, careers, family and income. MDVIP has been a wonderful investment with a fantastic return.

Dr. Chesnut is a very compassionate & knowledgeable physician. He is top in my book. As a Clinical Engineer. I deal with clinicians on a daily basis. He is very easy to talk with and helps explain the options for your care. He is an excellent wellness coach too. He “practices what he preaches” and encourages my wellness. I have been with him for over 10 years and am in better shape now at 62 than I was at 52.

It’s very reassuring to know that when having a health issue, you can get in to see Dr Chesnut usually same or next day. I was also shocked to have him personally call or text me several times. Never had that personalized experience with any other physician. That means a lot!

What to say about this amazing doctor. Most doctors manage your illness. Dr. Chestnut guides you toward better health no matter where you start or how old you are.
Bad side effect. Can't stand the even the smell of fried food.

I moved here from Iowa in December 2014. By spring of 2015 we were having a hard time finding a doctor that would take a new Medicare patient in our area. When we found Dr. Chesnut we did not know wonderful he would be. He is attentive, patient, and readily available. I called last week and he even answered his phone on vacation! He is always pleasant as is his office staff. I highly recommend Dr. Chesnut!

I am a patient of Dr.Chesnut and I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to join MDVIP. He is an excellent physcian. His staff is very professional and courteous. Dr Chesnut is very caring and knowledgeable. He spends time with his patients and is always available to return your call. Dr. Chesnut provides excellent medical care and is always there when you need any medical advice.

Two years ago my Wife was in the hospital over Christmas, Dr. Chestnut was on Vacation and out of town, but he keep up with her hospital progress by phone and call me almost everyday with a update. Dr. Chestnut did not have hospital privileges and still came to see my wife in the hospital. Two weeks ago I was in the hospital overnight. Dr. Chestnut getting notice from the hospital came in to check on me. Five stars !

Simply outstanding. In the last six months Dr. Chestnut has “gone to bat” for me on at least two occasions. The first was when he personally called the ophthalmologist to get me seen immediately, when the ophthalmologist’s office had refused. Dr. Chesnut’s intervention probably saved my vision. Then in December I got a notice from Silver Scripts, that Repatha would no longer be covered. Again Dr. Chesnut knowing that this bio-logic had been extremely effective, contacted this PBM and got an “exception” approved. For years I have worked with various physicians and their practices, installing computer systems, so I have seen several doctors in their environment. And I can tell you Dr. Chesnut is one of the best. I would HIGHLY recommend Dr. Chesnut

Dr Chesnut exhibits all the traits of a wonderful doctor. He is an attentive, caring, and personable professional. He returns texts or phone calls promptly and personally calls to report tests results.

Hello Dr. Chesnut; After 3 to 4 months in severe pain because of pinched nerve in lower back, waiting for scheduled surgery, I am now out of pain! Thank you Dr. Chesnut and God bless you. Dr. Chesnut is very kind and always willing to do whatever you need or to see that you get whatever care you need. He is pleasant and it is a privilege, having a physician like him to call on when you're sick!

Dr. Chestnut listens you your concerns and will answer any questions with clarity. He takes his time to go over any test results. And he will Taylor treatment to you as an individual.

He renewed my faith in the medical field

I have a lot of health issues I am not used to having plus I am now taking daily medications. Dr. Chesnut & Janet are quick to see that I get them in a quick & timely manner [even when I do not remember until the last minute I need them]. Part of my new illnesses are I don't remember anything until it's time to run. They tell me when to run. I just love them.

Half a year later no change. Always great. But I don't ski anymore like that 13 years ago. Called seniorizing my life.
Again fun semi annual evaluation by our good family doc. We even talked about our hobbies with music. The doc now plays guitar. I bought the Diabelli pieces for guitar and piano. I I offered him to send the music sheets so we can play together. But thus far no answer.
