I have literally never left a bad review but I’ve also never experienced such a bizarre and standoffish attitude from anyone in a professional setting. I went to pick up a Black Dog Candle order and the individual working gave me grief for using a recycled Yankee Candle bag to package my order, saying “oh yeah, you used a corporate bag when dropping off at a local business. We all thought that was funny”. They were also extremely rude when I initially only provided my first name for the order, saying “is that your first and last name”. Not to mention, it took me weeks to drop off the order in the first place. They were constantly closed with no update to their business hours on google, just a piece of receipt paper on the door. Then, when I finally was able to drop off the order, they did not notify the owner of Black Dog Candles for over a week. I had to email and notify her. If you’re so concerned about local business, maybe be kind to those that come in the store and keep your business partners in the loop.

Edit: in response to this absolutely lovely message from the owner of the store. I’m not upset about my service from Black Dog Candles at all. They provided a wonderful, locally made product and excellent customer service when I reached out to them via email. My review is in response to the way I was treated in the store which has only been backed up by the nasty response the owner has left on google. Why would I stay and shop when someone is so blatantly rude to me and went out of their way to make me uncomfortable? My experience still matters because I was in your store. I guess if you don’t buy anything right away or if you’re trying to patronize another business, you deserve to be berated by the owner. As far as business hours go, there’s nothing on any site or social media to indicate when your hours might change. Which is frustrating for potential patrons who show up to shop but find nothing but a piece of receipt paper to indicate when you *might* be open again. Half the time, when I tried to return to the store on the date it was supposed to reopen (according to the papers left on the door), there was a new notice left saying the store was still closed.
Additionally, it doesn’t take much searching to find that the owner of this business has a history of exhibiting distasteful behavior towards her customers. Let me be clear, the one star review I’m leaving is for Mine & Yours.
