Rainbows from the waterfall

The Rainbow Trailhead in Ogden, Utah, offers an exceptional hiking experience. Most of the trail is shaded, providing a comfortable hike even on sunny days. You'll encounter numerous peaks with fantastic views, and towards the top, you're rewarded with a breathtaking overlook of Ogden. If you take the right trail, you can reach the top of a ridge with a stunning view of a waterfall that's a few hundred feet tall, cascading across the road in Ogden Canyon.

We brought small children along, and they managed the hike just fine. Make sure to carry at least half a liter of water or more per person to stay hydrated. The trail itself is pretty smooth and is suitable for both hiking and mountain biking.

We did spot a rattlesnake on the trail, but as long as you keep your distance, it shouldn't be an issue. Overall, the Rainbow Trailhead is a fantastic outdoor adventure with beautiful scenery and manageable for families and individuals alike. Highly recommended!

One if my favorite hikes! Just be careful, I saw 3 snakes on the trail in one weeks time. Stay alert!

Plentiful parking, easy trail conditions when we visited. Interesting view of the man-made waterfall. I really want to know how the abandoned cars got into the woods!

We go here when we want a nice easy hike with lovely views and a good mix of shade and sun. Sometimes we see deer and of course always hear birds, especially on the upper half.

Being from Dallas, we don’t experience the awe inspiring grandeur of mountains and hiking trails like this. The weekend I visited, the Parleys Canyon fire started, so I stayed close to Ogden.

First it was the river, then this trail that got me hooked. Highly recommended for all but best to go with a friend if you’re not experienced at hiking slopes or occasionally slippery gravel right next to the edge...and best to have a walking stick...and bug spray handy.

The plateau overlooking the golf course was especially quiet and serene, with all sorts of interesting plants. Going back ASAP!

This is an easy little hike that will take you away from the city for a minute. Very wooded and shady. Flowers, birds, foliage. We continued on Overlook and had a nice view of the valley (and, unfortunately, the golf course).
Trail was a little narrow but not difficult.

Nice of Rainbow Gardens to let us park here. You can go along the steep valley wall westward or southward to the bench which is an ancient shore line. I just went with my son to collect rocks by the river. I found three pieces of red granite. One was falling apart , the next was a similar color and the last was slick and very hard. Granite forms at depth and eventually falls apart at the surface; so called isostatic rebound. My son found a cliff of boulders glued together with concrete. Go up further and see if you find the antique car.

OkAy this place will not disappoint. Throughout the trail you'll get a variety of gorgeous views. The deeper into the hike you goi the more and more you feel like you're in Hawaii. This is definitely an experience I would recommend

Nice easy trail. Children (not toddlers) could do this trail too. Active seniors can survive this trail also. It's pretty gradual not steep at all
