We stopped in at the Rotary Centennial Nature Center while visiting the Honeymoon Island State Park. This is a nice little nature center offering exhibits, displays and information about the history and nature of the park. The staff were friendly and informative. There is a gift store where you can purchase souvenirs as well as your annual park pass. The balcony around the building offers wonderful views of the Island and the Saint Joseph Sound. They also have a small garden area featuring local species of plants. A great place to stop when visiting the park.

Great place to buy annual passes for individuals or families. You will see information about the wildlife inside. They give you examples with photos. The maps also display the island trails. You can check out the great view outside. They have a plant garden with native Florida plants. Everyone is friendly and nice to talk to.

Honeymoon Island Park beach is a gem, miles and miles of white sand rugged beach w no development in sight. Bushes and dead bush stubs all scattered over, a very pretty sight. Except for the senior homes at the front end, there are no houses or commercial spots on the island, and that is the main reason everything looks so natural. We went there in late December, very pleasant to walk on the beach, high 60s, hardly anyone there in the late morning. The few people who were there seemed to be involved in shell collection, as the beach is a continuous pile of tiny shells. I picked a few, too. Shell walking is a good therapy for feet if you can manage to walk barefoot on the beach. I wanted to, but couldn't, since we were in a hurry as usual to reach the next beach destination - Cape San Blas - a narrow strip of land in the ocean, deep in the Florida pandale region, another heavenly beach. We found both these places by searching the map at random, for land that streatches out into the ocean like a bay. These two turned out to be top picks.

The walkway leading to the Honeymoon park is also truly awesome, with palm trees flanked by footpaths on both sides, really beautiful. There's nothing like that anywhere that I have seen - but I haven't seen that many beaches either - the closest seems to be Monterey or Pacific Grove, CA beaches.

The Nature Center is interesting. Several items about the local area and the wildlife, tides, etc. Some touristy things to buy. The personnel are really great with tidbits of interesting information. But one of the best and possibly most ignored aspects is the area out behind the Nature Center where there are picnic tables and benches. You can sit and take in the beautiful scenery and water views in very peaceful surroundings. It is worth going just for that.

Opened May 10, 2007, the Honeymoon Island Rotary Centennial Nature Center features the history of the local barrier islands. Over 1 million + visitors yearly to this Florida State Park. Staffed by volunteer docents, come enjoy the view.

Worth the stop Nature Center! Good amount of hands on interactive show pieces talking about the area. Stop and talk to the friendly Park Rangers inside too! They can tell you some secrets of the place along with some history explaining why the park is like it is today. Cool wildlife fossil and bone remains to see up and close from the park itself. There is a observation deck with free spotting scope stands to see the Eagle Nests.
